Tenneco Inc. acquired PCA in 1965 and expanded the company’s product portfolio to include aluminum, clear plastic, foam products, molded fiber, and pressware.

In 1999 Tenneco spun-off PCA into an independent company and renamed Pactiv Corporation.

Pactiv Corporation was acquired by Reynolds Group Holdings Limited in 2010.

Today Pactiv’s products include plastic cups, deli, takeout, catering containers, and tableware which are used in the restaurant, packer/processor, supermarket, and industrial industries. The company sells its products in North America, Europe and Asia.

The company was founded in 1947 by Frank C. Sullivan as Republic Powdered Metals, which sold heavy-duty roof coating made of aluminum called Alumanation.

After Sullivan’s death in 1971 RMP Inc. was created as a holding company in order to expand into the paint and coatings industry. Thomas C. Sullivan, the founder’s son, became CEO of the holding company. He ran the company for more than three decades. During his tenure net sales increased from $11 million to $2 billion.

When Tom retired in 2002 his son, Frank C. Sullivan, took over the company.

Today RPM International’s brands include Stonhard, Tremco, Illbruck, Carboline, Flowcrete, Universal Sealants, and Euco.

The company has 94 manufacturing plants in 24 countries and sells its products in 160 countries. It is the world’s sixth-largest paint and coating company.
