Visionworks was founded in 1984 in San Antonio, Texas. Originally called Eye Care Centers of America, the company offers designer, brand name frames for eyeglasses and sunglasses. Most locations offer eye exams on site or have a contract with a nearby ophthalmologist. Many locations have on site lens service with eyeglass service available in one hour in some cases.

Visionworks also provides contact lens exams and sells contact lenses both online and at most locations.

The company has 670 optical retail stores in 41 states as well as The District of Columbia and more than 5,500 employees. The company plans on opening an additional 95 stores in 2016, mostly in Michigan and New York.

In October 2019, Visionworks was acquired by VPS Global for an undisclosed amount.

Due to the coronavirus and subsequent quaratine, Visionworks was forced to close nearly 60% of its 700 locations and lay off approximately 4,000 employees in April 2020.

Food 4 Less Corporate Office

Food 4 Less was founded in 19777 by Lou Falley. Falley’s stores were full service until they were purchased by Fleming Companies, Inc., and were mostly located in Kansas and Missouri. The company changed hands again and was purchased in 1997 by Ralph’s markets, which was then purchased by Kroger in 1998. In Northern California, the company uses the name Foods Company. Although Kroger’s still operates many of the Food 4 Less stores, there are some locations that have been franchised out to various other grocery chains.

Food 4 Less is based out of Compton, California. The company is a warehouse type of supermarket that has “no frills” such as decorative shelves or even box boys. Customers bag their own groceries at the checkout stand and benefit by saving money on food.

New Seasons Market Corporate Office

New Seasons Market was founded in 1999 by Stan Amy. The company started off with three families and 50 friends for funding their idea to have an organic supermarket that featured foods grown and produced in the Pacific Northwest. The company started off with one local supermarket in the Portland, Oregon, area. By 2008, the company had grown to 9 stores and by 2013, the company had 15 stores and 3,000 employees.

New Seasons Market belongs to the “B Corporations”, in which participating companies donate 10 % of their after tax profits to community projects and organizations. The company acquired New Leaf Community Markets of California in late 2013. New Seasons plans to open 3 additional stores by the end of 2016.
