CHS, Inc. has its roots in the 1929 organization of the regional cooperative, North Pacific Grain Growers, Inc (NPGG). The Farmers Union Grain Terminal Association (GTA) was founded in 1938. These two cooperatives eventually merged in 1983 to form the Harvest States Cooperatives.
In 1931 Farmers Union Central Exchange was founded in Minnesota. This cooperative later became Cenex, which became a seed, plant, and food business. They later expanded into transportation, convenience stores, and gas stations.
In 1998 Cenex and Harvard States merged to form the Cenex Harvest States Cooperatives, an integrated agricultural food systems company that linked producers to consumers.
In 2000 CHS Cooperatives was adopted as the new name of the company, and then CHS, Inc. in 2003. Cenex is the company’s energy brand.
Today CHS, Inc. is a Fortune 100 business owned by U.S. agricultural cooperatives, farmers, ranchers, and thousands of preferred stockholders. They own and operate food processing and wholesale, farm supply, Cenex brand fuel, financial services, and retail businesses. They are also co-owner of Ventura Foods, a processor of vegetable oil. Their revenue for 2012 was $40.6 billion.

Purchased gas at the Antique City Cenex in Walnut, IA on 2/24/15 @ 2:49:54PM on Pump #8. My vehicle made it to Missouri Valley, IA before the engine light came on. By the time we arrived in Blair, NE – my car completely shut down. Had to have my car towed to Woodhouse Ford Service Department where they had to completely pump out the entire gas tank due to a large amount water in my fuel – which cost me $213.85. Contacted the Walnut, IA Cenex gas station on 2/25/14, and spoke to a lady who advised that her supervisor, “Petra” was not in at that time, but that they had 3 previous calls/complaints and that they had shut down some of the pumps and were waiting for the state to come in and expect the tanks. She also advised that “Petra” would contact me by 2/26/15 in reference to this situation. I again attempted to contact “Petra” on 2/26/15 at 11:00AM and again, she was not in the building, but was advised that she would call. I want refunded the money back for the damage Cenex caused and for the water filled gas that I paid for!! Please contact me immediately.

This with the gas price just happened today November 29, 2014. The complaint will be going into the better business bureau today also.

Cenex located on Pleasant View Rd Middleton, WI. The big sign says $2.64/gal. I pumped in the gas and my receipt showed $2.76/gal. I went in to complain and was told it was not on the pump that I used but on the other pumps. The sign does not specify that it is for certain pumps. The pumps say “Cenex” so it should be on all pumps because the sign itself is a Cenex sign. This is false advertising and is being reported to the Better Business Bureau also.

I have been without propane for four days now. They keep telling us that they are going to come out to our home, but obviously they haven’t. We have used cenex propane for the last ten years, but ever since they moved the company to Moorhead, MN they have been rude and certainly unhelpful. What can I do? I have already called another company to help us fill our tank, but since Cenex keeps telling us they will come out here I didn’t schedule anything with them. Guess I need to.

To whom this may concern;
I’m not sure if I have the correct place, but this is a start. Yesterday the 25th of May in the am I filling my gas tank at a Cenex Gas Station in Green Bay, WI 601 N. Military Ave.
As I was filling my gas tank I noticed that the gasoline was spilling out and I don’t mean just drops. I stopped pumping when I was at about $18.92, this is when I noticed that the gas was spilling out. This handle did not have one of those rubber seals/circles around the tube/nozzle, which is normally on there to prevent gasoline from spilling out.
The gasoline however was pouring out right around the area where the actual handle and tube/nozzle meet. Gasoline is not cheap now a day for this to have happened.
At this point I stopped pumping gas and headed into tell the attendant. She asked me to go to another pump so that I could fill my tank and to come in when I was done. I did pay with my visa card so it does show how I did pump from two different pumps simultaneously.
The attendant did write a note for the station manager and assured me that the manager would call me by noon yesterday or at the latest today. It is now 8:30pm and so far no one has called me. I did call them and I was told that the manager is not in. I was also told that the corporate office is in Appleton, WI, which I cannot find.
I did ask this attendant to leave another message on my behalf; he assured me that he would. What else can I do? The attendant from yesterday was nice, she was going to put something to let other clients know that this pump was out of order, and leave my message, but this does not do anything for the gas that poured out of my car. The amount of gasoline that poured out was so that I had to get paper towels to wipe it off my car. Once again these were not just a few drops that spilled out.
Someone needs to respond to what happened. Was there no response because I was from out of town & they figure that I would not follow up?
Thank you,
Mrs. Maria Ema Hernandez

Twice in the last week, I have attempted to use my American Express Card in the pumps at two locations in Enid, OK. I have been using the card there for over ten years, but just recently, the card is not accepted at the pumps. The pump takes my card, asks the normal questions about a car wash and then shows “Thank You”, prints a receipt with no purchase. However, my pending charges on my AMEX account reflects the $99.00.
I have had my AMEX card for more then 25 years and have never had this problem before. It occurs at every CENEX gas station in town. If I go inside, I can buy gas by having them swipe the card with a pre-paid amount.
I spend about $200 a month on gas and unless someone can resolve this issue, I will buy elsewhere as I will not accept walking into the store and waiting waitin for a clerk to swipe the card for a prepaid amount.
The last station I used was Holdings at 905 N. Cleveland in Enid, OK, on 03/23/14. The receipt reflects approval # 515305.
Please advise.
