Ravenclaw Robotics says
Good Evening!
I hope your day has gone well. My name is Jessica Zhang, and I am a member of an FTC robotics team called RavenClaw Robotics at Rice Middle School, a public school at Plano ISD in Texas. Our goal is to promote STEM education to our local community through presentations, workshops, and mentorships.
If you’re unfamiliar with FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge), it is a robotics competition for students in grades 7-12, with teams building, designing, and coding their own robots to compete against other teams in a predetermined Robot Game.
Here’s a little background information about our team:
We have won many awards during the 2020-2021 season, including:
TX FTC North FLYSET Qualifier #4 REMOTE:
– Inspire Award 3rd Place
– Connect Award 3rd Place
TX FTC North Townview Qualifier #8 REMOTE:
– Connect Award 3rd Place
– Motivate Award 1st Place
TX FTC North Hedrick May Day Mech Madness #10 HYBRID:
– Inspire Award 3rd Place
– Motivate Award 1st Place
– Regionals Advancement
TX FTC North Regional Championship REMOTE:
– Motivate Award 1st Place
– States Advancement
TX FTC State Championship HYBRID:
– Motivate Award 3rd Place
More recently, we won Connect Award 1st Place, Control Award 3rd Place, and a Super Qualifier Advancement at our 12/11/21 qualifier.
I was wondering if your Public Affairs Team would be willing to offer our robotics team some insight on any STEM-related mentoring or sponsorship opportunities since all of us on the team are quite interested in pursuing careers in STEM. We would love to have programming or engineering mentorships that could potentially be held through zoom or another platform. For sponsorships, team grants or other means of funding would be helpful. The funding would allow us to buy parts and continue doing robotics and support our cause of promoting STEM. Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated. As always, you’ll be included in both our website and our Engineering Portfolio, along with a 3D-printed plate with your company logo put onto our robot’s sponsor/mentor board.
Have a great rest of your day!
Thanks and Best Regards,
Jessica Zhang
