Brake Masters was founded in Phoenix, Arizona, by brothers Eric and Shalom Laytin in 1982. Originally named Auto Brakes, this pair of immigrants from Israel changed the name the following year to Brake Masters. In 1984, the brothers opened a second location.
Today, the company has 89 stores in Arizona, Texas, California, Nevada and New Mexico. The company specializes in brake repair and replacements but also performs other types of auto repair and maintenance, such as oil changes, front end alignments, clutches, and batteries. The company only employs ASE certified technicians, unlike many auto repair shops.
Brake Masters currently has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. Although there have been complaints to the BBB, CEO Eric Laytin states that those problems were promptly addressed. Headquarters are located in Tucson, Arizona.
