Cummins Inc. was founded in 1919 by Clessie Cummins as the Cummins Engine Company.

The new company was focused on developing the diesel engine, which had been invented 20 years earlier.

In 1933 the Model H engines was introduced, and was used in small railroad switchers.

Today Cummins Inc. designs, manufactures,  and distributes engines, filtration, and power generation products. The company also services engines and other related equipment, including fuel systems, filtration, emission controls, and electrical power generation systems.

TRW Automotive Corporate Office

TRW Automotive is a supplier of components, modules, and systems for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

TRW Automotive in its present form was created when aerospace company Northrop Grumman purchased competitor TRW in 2002 and subsequently sold its automotive division to Blackstone Group, a private equity firm.

Blackstone took the company public in 2004.

The Pep Boys: Manny, Moe & Jack is commonly branded as Pep Boys. The company sells brand name and private label auto parts and provides automotive services.

Pep Boys was founded when Emanuel “Manny” Rosenfeld, Maurice “Moe” Strauss, Graham “Jack” Jackson, and Moe Radavitz pooled $800 together to open an auto parts store in 1921.

They named the store Pep Auto Supplies after Pep Valve grinding compound that they sold in the store.

In the early 1930’s Pep Boys had 40 stores in Philadelphia and had expanded to the West Coast with a store opened by Manny’s brother Maury.

In November 2018, the company announced that they were introducing a program where customers could purchase tires from Amazon and have them delivered to Pep Boys for installation.

The company pulled advertising from Facebook after discovering that Cambridge Analytica had breached the personal information of Facebook users.

In September 2019, the company was fined $3.7 million for dumping hazardous waste into regular trash bins designed for landfills. 

In September 2020, the company announced their top technicans of the year.

Jiffy Lube Corporate Office

The first Jiffy Lube was established by Edwin H. Washburn in 1971 in Ogden, Utah.

Washburn franchised 6 locations between 1971 and 1979.

In 1979 W. James Hindman bought out the 7 locations, established Jiffy Lube International, and moved the company’s headquarters to Baltimore, Maryland.

Jiffy Lube went public in 1987 and had over 1,000 locations by 1989.

In 1998 Pennzoil and Quaker State merged and the 581 Q Lube locations were merged into Jiffy Lube.

Today, Jiffy Lube is a chain that offers oil changes and other automotive services through over 2,000 locations in North America.

The company has had several problems with Jiffy Lube franchises, especially in the Los Angeles area, charging for work that was not done or for doing work that was against manufacturer recommendations.

In 2022, the company announced that it would help car owners fight back against catalytic converter thieves by engraving the part(s) with the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on the converter, discouraging theft.
