Arkansas Electric Cooperative was founded in 1949 in Little Rock, Arkansas. This is a nonprofit utility cooperative which offers wholesale energy to 17 cooperatives.
The company currently serves more than 500,000 customers, covering about 62% of the entire state of Arkansas. A few members of this cooperative are C&L Electric Cooperative, Farmers Electric Cooperative, Mississippi County Electric Cooperative, and Clay County Electric Cooperative.
Arkansas Electric Cooperative, better known as AECC, also provides electricity, though long term purchase plans, such as their current 20 year agreement with Flat Ridge 2 Wind Farms in Kansas and a 20 year agreement with Origin Wind Farm in Oklahoma.
