Advance America, Cash Advance Centers, Inc. was founded in 1997.
The company is one of the largest payday advance firms in the US and is active in 30 states, operating with more than 2,000 locations.
Advance America, Cash Advance Centers, Inc. also operates 400 locations under the names National Cash Advance, Check Advance, First American Cash Advance, First American Cash Loans, Purpose Financial, and Purpose Money.
Whether the loan is though one of the company’s locations or online the procedure is the same: the borrower shows proof of identification, source of income, bank account, and references. Loans are between $50 to $1,000 and are meant to be paid back within a very short period of time.
The company has a “D” from the Better Business Bureau because of unresolved customer complaints.
Advance America was sued in 2004 in a class action lawsuit in North Carolina that accused the company of charging illegal fees and interest rates. Advance America was charging a monthly fee of $149.95 on loan repayment that did not count toward paying off the loan. The lawsuit was settled in 2010 for $18.75 million to more than 140,000 North Carolina consumers.
The company was acquired in 2012 by Grupo Elektra for $780 million.

I just left an email message through your website regarding my October loan which should have been taken out of my checking account on the 3rd, and was not taken out till the 6th, which will now, not clear the bank. I need and answer IMMEDIATELY, as to what I am to do because the money in my account will NOW, not be enough to cover my loan. PLUS, I will need more money for the month of November, which will be almost impossible because of this horrible situation. I am going to post this in Instagram, Google, and Facebook, so everyone can see it.

I received a call from Advanced America offering me a loan for 10,000. The call came from a New York area code but I also spoke to a guy in Florida. They asked for no fees up front but then that changed to wanting the first months monthly payment up front. This guy used your name. I’m assuming this is a scam but thought you should know.

We have had over 30 phone calls from Cash Advance, 773-869-0933, in the last 3 days on our private Sheriff dept. patrol phones. We have tried a dozen times to reason with the people to get us off the calling list. I am turning this over to the state attorney’s office as we have been able to get off your list. You will need to handle this right away to avoid prosecution or other legal remedies.

Hello my name is Cyrenthia Thompson and I’m writing because I have had a title pawn with the Dothan Store on East Main Street since 2014, and it is now 2017. I’ve paid on time every month since I’ve had it and still haven’t paid it off. I was wondering if by some chance I can be relieved of thus debt by the grace if God Alone. U know I’ve paid back almost three times what I have borrowed and I just don’t have an extra $300 to pay it off. I got $500 at the time of the loan but it is getting no smaller. If someone could call me I would appreciate it 334-828-XXXXX. Please and thanks in advance, Cyrenthia Thompson

I was an employee at Advance America from May 2016- until March 2016 as an employee with this company the DDO that we had was very nice for the first few months after getting to know the company a little bit more all of that went down hill. I recently got a new manager and while speaking to this manager I was told that the DDO said that she promoted her to this position because we both were BLACK and hoped that we would work together. Not a nice thing to say. Shockingly while working for advance America I was consistently badgered about my customer services skills and every little thing that I had done. While going into work today I had this particular DDO stand in my face and taunt me to make her move off of camera then fire me because I told her how I felt. Hopefully other DDO’s with this company don’t do this to their employees and value you them as well
