Samsonite was founded in 1910 by luggage salesman Jesse Shwayder, in Denver, Colorado. Shwayder decided he could build a better, stronger suitcase than most of the cardboard sided ones. A religious man, Shwayder called his first suitcase Samson, after the strong man in the bible. Later, the name was changed to Samsonite.
Today, most Samsonite cases and bags are made in India, although headquarters are in Mansfield, Massachusetts. The company is now owned by the investment firm CVC Capital Partners, who purchased the company in 2007 for $1.7 billion. Samsonite is perhaps one of the best-known names in the luggage industry.
Company stock in Hong Kong took a hit after the CEO, Ramesh Tainwala, was forced to step down after it was revealed that his education credentials were fake.
Samsonite luggage, bags, and cases are sold under several names, including American Tourister, Hartmann, Samsonite Red, Gregory Mountain Products, and High Sierra.
Headquarters for the US are located in Mansfield, Massachusetts.

Fans of Samsonite for long time, bought over 15 suitcases over years. 3 years COVID made less travel, suitcases wheel dissolve. Brought to Samsonite service centre in Hong Kong look for repair, shocked to know repairing cost was US$52.00 per wheel, including admin cost, repair 4 wheels cost US$230.00, seems they would rather you to buy a new one instead of repair. Cannot believe such high repairing charge, although like the brand, will not recommend friends to buy Samsonite suitcase nor their other products going forward. Like one said, they took your money and don’t care anymore.

Go to a store with real people who care and will support their product, this company sucks and could care less, they got your money, good luck!!!

Tried to buy Boyt luggage (over $ 2,000.00) but impossible to buy with this company. Boyt was great until this company bought them, now they suck, stay away.
Customer service is rude, belligerent, doesn’t know their product line, good luck trying to reach someone with a brain or a telephone numbers of anyone who can help you, buyer beware.
I wouldn’t do business with this company if their products were free. Welcome to big business in an attempt to model amazon on-line shopping. They are a nightmare.

Please help –
I am a senior citizen and proud owner of a large Samsonite Luggage. The handle broke when I lifted the bag – it clearly can’t be repaired. I have owned it for about
three years, using it for travel about 3 times per year.
Please advise me of any financial compensation you can provide.
Thank you for your attention.

We have been using Samsonite luggage since 1965. In fact we did not know about any other luggage that was so sturdy yet light. I found it too be one of the best.

I purchase this item in Nov 21,2017 when I received the package I find it small and I wanted a bigger luggage. I call the customer service and ask I want to return the item and if they can send me a prepaid label so I could drop off at UPS. I even send email regarding the issue no response or call.
I have order a new set of luggage online in exchange on the 1st order.
I’m hopping I could get a prepaid return label ASAP. Thank you.

Your warranty and claims is unacceptable.
Multiple phone calls with different directions and false accusations all add to bureaucracy in a claim being rejected.
Samsonite seem to take as many steps in order not paying a warranty claim.
Im am greatly disappointed with push back from Samsonite Australia which is completely unjustified.
Samsonite company policy is to reject all claims and to wear down the customer.
How Samsonite has not been investigated is beyond me.

Go to a store where there are people who care about your product and actually will take care of your purchase.

We have used Samsonite products for more than 40 years, including several sets of luggage and gifts of luggage to children and grandchildren. The only problem we have ever encountered was the “pulls” coming off the zippers. On April 20, 2017, I purchased a Laser Pro 17.3″ Laptop backpack for use on business trips. While preparing for my third flight with this backpack, I noted the seam of a side pocket (perhaps for an umbrella) was pulling out from the seam (approximately 2″). I have never used this pocket, and it is apparent there was not enough ‘fabric’ sewn in to hold it. The store referred me to you as they say is their policy. I have been instructed to go by or mail the product to the nearest authorized repair location some two hours away. I was told they would repair or replace it IF it was a manufacturing defect, and was also told shipping was at my expense. As a ‘courtesy’ the condescending young man (following company policies) did make a determination they could make a ‘one time exception’ and will send me a free shipping label. I find this entire process greatly lacking in customer service and have determined Samsonite is not interested in my future business. While I will follow through (without any choice), I will be looking at other products for future purchase, including my grandson’s graduation next Spring.

WHY DO YOU MAKE CARRY ON LUGGAGE ADVERTISED AS “21” INCHES AND IT IS ACTUALLY 23 IN. AND EXCEEDS THE AIRLINE ALLOWANCES WHICH SPECIFY 22 IN. I JUST PURCHASED TWO AMERICAN TOURISTER “21” IN. PIECES AND THEY WERE RECJECTED BY BRITISH AIRWAYS AS BEING AN INCH TO LARGE AND COULD NOT BE CARRIED ON THE AIRPLANE! AMERICAN AIRLINES ALSO HAS THE 22 IN LIMIT. IF YOU ARE NOT AWARE ,THE HEIGHT MEASUREMENT OF THE ITEM INCLUDES THE WHEELS.
YOUR CORPORATE RESEARCH HAS A PROBLEM

I ordered a suitcase online for my niece. I got a confirmation email and thought all was well. After the item did not arrive in 7 days, I called your customer service. I was told that the order did not process. I was not able to find out why it did not process, the customer service agent kept saying that I would be contacted via email in a couple of days by the customer advocate. I cannot talk to the advocate in person because they do not have a direct line. I cannot get the gift delivered quickly and must go through this ridiculous process.
I do not know how you plan to compete in the online retail space with this type of frustrating interaction with your customers. I would never try to order online again or buy anything from you. As a partner in a retail practice, this is a terrible way to do business. When I can buy a suitcase on Amazon and get it the next day this is unacceptable. I would have been okay if the person in customer could have fixed the proble,, but no I have to go through the process. It’s bad enough that I was not contacted when the transaction did not go through.
