Arctic Circle Restaurant was founded in 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah, by Don Carlos Edwards. The original business was nothing more than a refreshment stand, which evolved into Don Carlos BBQ, to the Arctic Circle Restaurant of today.

The company operates a chain of American cuisine, fast food style restaurants. Originally beginning with one location, the company now has 28 company stores and 45 franchised operations in seven Western states in the US. Approximately 50 percent of the locations are in Utah, with the headquarters being located in Midvale, Utah.

The company is known for selling unusual food items that are not typically found at other burger chains such as fried halibut and fries, taco salads, along with unusual drinks such as fresh lime squeeze drinks and non-alcoholic lime Rickey’s.

Arctic Circle CEO Gary Roberts claims that the company was the first to introduce both kid’s meals and fry sauce to the public.

In July 2020, Arctic Circle donated $100,000 to a Utah food bank due to the coronavirus crisis.

The company also donated $5,000 to an Idaho Foodbank.

The original restaurant operating in Salt Lake City is still going strong as of December 2022.

I would like to know what the brown topper coating is made of. I worked at a Arctic Circle back in high school in the 70’s. I moved and lived in a state where there are no Arctic Circles and have fond memories of brown toppers, fry sauce and their great food. I just moved back to care for my 88 year old mom and couldn’t wait to relive my youth. The fry sauce was good even though they no longer make it like our owner/manager did- it was fresh. I went to get a brown topper and it tastes just like brown hard wax not the melt in your mouth topping I remember. It was horrible, I just wanted to know if they added wax to the mix to stretch their buck. I remember it tasting like chocolate, maybe kids just have no clue what good is. The burgers taste like every other burger joint, sorry to see they changed everything.

Tell me that Brown Toppers used to taste great as I remember them. I now live in St. George and brown toppers will never lure me in.

You know I have been a long time customer of artic circle in twin falls, but from now on we will not be a customer of this establishment because of lousy service and poorly cooked food. Just passing this on.

I wonder how a company can survive 70 years with the crappy, Slow, and incompetent service. Let’s see, arrived at the store on 4700 South and 2700 West at 5:02PM waited in line behind two cars for ever. After the cars in front of me got their food at 5:37PM, 5 minutes later, the girl at the window finally opened the window and asked what are you waiting for? Like she couldn’t figure out that I was the last one waiting for food. Then she said you need to move to lane # 2. What so I can wait another 42 minutes for an (f)ing hotdog? Never again.

I have watched severe sexual discrimination at the artic circle on Utah Ave in Idaho Falls idaho. Employees vaping in the rest rooms instead of working are females and get rewarded and premoted. No male is allowed in any supivisory position. Single mothers given raises and supervisory positions for being single mothers who cannot do the job they have. Hostile work environment with mangers talking bad and initiating hostility towards male workers, failure to follow idaho law on 48 hr check release after termination when requested. Not cleaning equipment correctly aND terminating one employee while others can do the same or worse with no consequences. The owner Kelly is initiating and encouraging sexual discrimination and making sure employees are aware she is supposedly friends with some one with the labor board. Making employees feel they cannot go to the labor board for complaints. This is only a small amount of the issues at this restaurant not counting the burnt food being served, food being left to sit and served etc.

In the last several days we’ve been to Artic Circle here in Elko, NV. Last Sunday, June 2nd, the speaker was not working at the drive through so you had to wait in line. When we finally got up to the speaker, we wanted to try the new swirl cone. T|hey don’t have the machine for it. Said the company was suppose to send one to Elko. Then again yesterday when we went, the 5th, the grill was not working so you couldn’t get anything such as a hamburger. The kids working there didn’t have gloves on to serve out ice cream cones and were filthy. I’ve complained before to the manager but to no avail. Kids handle change and go right back to serving. The cones didn’t have a wrap on them like some do, and no gloves like I stated before. This place is disgusting.

I went to the Arctic Circle in Elko Nevada Wednesday the 28th of June and I’m finally recovered from a horrific illness of food poisoning from that store. I went in there sometime between 12 and 1 in the afternoon I ordered two fresh corn dogs which I did not get fresh they were old and sitting under the heat lamp for who-knows-how-long they were not even hot anymore just warm so I can only eat one. I also ordered a five-piece shrimp no french fries just the shrimp and an Almond Roca small ice cream shakethe first piece of shrimp which tasted good I ate the second piece of shrimp had a texture as if it was not cooked all the way so the third piece of shrimp I bit in half and looked at it to see if it was cooked all the way through search shrimp look white No Gray areas of rawness so I popped it in my mouth and started to eat it again the texture felt as it was not cooked so I did it out and threw it away within 5 hours of eating that little bit of food from their store my illness started I had severe diarrhea for the next three days I was so severely ill I thought I would die I have never in my life at 48 years old then that sick. I will never ever go to Arctic Circle anywhere ever again and I will continue to advise people beware.

I went to 4796 S Redwood Road location today 28Mar at about 12:45 pm to grab lunch in drive through and get back to work. While at the window I saw and heard a man pick up my taco salad and look at it like something was wrong. He then showed it to the gal at the window who commented that they “need to remember to put water in the meat.” The man walked out of my sight towards the back of the store. When he came back he gave me a salad in a bag. I pulled forward and looked at it before I drove away. The meat looked a bit darker than usual – but otherwise looked like it was OK. I WAS WRONG! The meat was cooked down so much that the spices were very concentrated not only tasting like -5 day old left overs but burning the back of my throat. There were also chunks of meat that were so dried out they were hard which I had to spit out. My lunch was un-eatable and I did not have time to go back to the restaurant. It was the worst fast ‘food’ I’ve ever seen. When deciding to email a complaint – I also found I did not even get a receipt.
