In 1961-1962, Nicholas Pascarella was traveling the US in search of cheap land on which to build a restaurant. His car had a flat tire in Augusta, Georgia. The employees at the tire repair shop convinced Pascarella that he should purchase land there to build his restaurant.
The first Western Sizzlin Buffet restaurant opened in Agusta, Georgia, in February 1962. Today, the company has about 46 franchises in 13 states and is best known for its unique steaks.
Pascarella believed that “If searing the bottom of the steak made it juicy, adding flames to the top would make them twice as good.” This lead to the company’s renowned searing process trademarked as the FlameKist steak.
Due to the coronavirus, some franchisees were forced to close permanently in 2020.
The company operates as a subsidiary of Biglari Holdings, which is owned by the current CEO Sardar Biglari. Biglari Holdings also owns the Steak N Shake restaurant chain.
Western Sizzlin maintains a corporate office in Roanoake, Virginia.

Today is my 71st birthday (09/07/2022). I wanted to go to Dalton Ga Western Sizzler in Dalton Ga with my husband (and 8 lb Morkie who is an ADA service animal) to celebrate. The manager there was extremely rude even as I produced Federal I.D. confirmation for my dog. I took her mat for her to sit on. She is clearly TRAINED, well behaved and clean……we take her everywhere. The manager asked what my disability was. My husband then told her it was none of her business (I have diabetes) as we had all the necessary paperwork. She said she was following Western Sizzler guidelines and wouldn’t allow me to take a picture of the guidelines. My husband had returned to the car w/ our 8 lb dog and my reading glasses were in the car, so I couldn’t read what she was showing me. I’ve attached a link to the ADA guidelines. My birthday was ruined because of your no service animal policy. Unless you can give me a reasonable explanation, I will go to social media and legal representation. To say I’m disappointed and upset would be an understatement. BELOW is the trained service animal with me today.

Has never been a problem until a recent visit at the Dalton, GA store. I’m went and be sat down as my be wife is going through be line. Unt ok l the General manager of this store for Ed me to get up and wait by the kitchen for my wife. I have never have to do this before I have gone on Easter, Mother’s Day Sundays be after church I have never never be before been be subject by to such tota lol by disregard and be disrespect before. I know there is is a line I understand that but to be again bb edited tonight but it is he as NEVER been an issue… It’s no wonder resteraunts as a whole are suffering with this type of treatment to be patrons. I know situations but I also know that on a whole we handicap people are a minority and there should be exceptions. Heck go look at my parked in a handicap spot also it needs to noted and exceptions be allowed and not treated with such disdain and malice.
