After being laid off from his sales job in the 2008 recession, Tom Patterson decided to be/do/make something different. He remembered that many successful people today made their fortune simply by “building a better mousetrap.” Patterson thought that one of the things that annoyed him as a salesman was the “fabric gut” from his underwear. He decided to redesign men’s underwear.
He searched for the perfect fabric and had a tailor make the original 15 pairs by hand. He gave them out to friends and asked for honest feedback. Once he believed he had the perfect fabric and fit, Patterson and girlfriend/partner Erin Fujimoto moved to San Diego for manufacturing.
Today, the company sells their products at some of the finest retailers in the US, including Nordstrom, Saks, and Neiman Marcus. In just 5 years, revenue has surpassed the million dollar mark.
Patterson isn’t planning on stopping at men’s underwear but wants to continue to make improved products for men’s socks, robes, and pajamas. The company began producing women’s underwear and camisoles in early 2018.
By 2016, the company states that it had sold more than 2 million pairs of men’s underwear and had their products in more than 500 stores. The company also has an extensive e-commerce site.
Company headquarters are now located in New York, New York.

Amazing company. The product is hard to beat. I’ve tried other brands since and they all disappoint.
I saw Tommy John has more options now at Target and Nordstrom Rack, which are nice but nothing compares to Air and their second skin line. My husband has thick thighs that rub and has had zero issues with his undies. Seems like most of these complaints are negative nellies but there is a reason why this company is so well loved. my 2 cents is the product is worth every cent!

I ordered 3 pair as part of a valentine day gift for my wife. Paid an extra $5.00 for a gift box. Items arrived WITHOUT the gift box. When I called to have a box shipped they told me it couldn’t be done. The only remedy was to refund my money for the box or receive a credit on my next order. Really? My NEXT order? You really think I will place a NEXT order with a company that can’t simply send me a box? I was told the box has no SKU number so it can’t be sent. I find it hard to believe that this is an insurmountable problem for any company. Here’s how you do it. You make a call to the person who sends the boxes, ask them to pick up a box put it in a shipping box and address it. BINGO! Terrible and I mean TERRIBLE, uncaring customer service. Overpriced product with crappy service.

I ordered for my husband on black Fridy and still do not have my merchandise but they have my money. The person who emailed me wants to send me product I didn’t order. When I asked what happened, he basically wrote there was a d delivery problem, yet I had received a delivery date of 12/2/19. Based on what I read ani e and my experience, this company needs to be looked into.

I bought several pair December 2018. 3 pairs have been defective now including the replacement. THey will not replace any others… way over priced for inferior products that fray and have holes and are plain junk…… then you have to deal with people that could care less… the customer service is as bad as their product. Very disappointed because I did like the product in the beginning….

I am particularly displeased with the attitude of the salesperson in Valencia, Ca.
I wanted to order an extra pair in addition to the five pair exchange and was informed that the only way to accomplish an additional purchase was to possible to include with the exchange, but it would have to be shipped separately and I would have to pay the postage.s
I informed the agent top just forget an additional sale.
I tried to reach the corporate office and a recording said the number was out of order.
