Davanni’s Pizza and Hot Hoagies, more commonly known as Davanni’s, was founded in 1947 in New York, under the name Pontillo’s. Not liking the name, owners played with different names until they came up with Davanni’s. The company has operated under this name since 1983. Davanni’s operates a chain of pizza and sandwich shops in the state of Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and one in Chicago, Illinois.
Currently, the company has 22 locations in 4 states. The restaurant is best known for using local suppliers for all their ingredients. In addition to pizza, the company also offers hoagies, lasagna, calzones, pastas, salads, desserts, as well as a vegetarian menu. Each location offers “party rooms” and now serves craft beer and wine.
Davanni’s Pizza is family owned and operated, with no franchises. Headquarters are now located in Plymouth, Minnesota.

To whom it concerns,
On Tuesday December 11th at 8:15pm I placed a call to your Brooklyn Center store to place a carry out/pickup order. When the female employee answered the phone I said, “Hi, can I place an order for pickup?” The response I received in return was just plain foul and appalling. With an awful attitude the female employee responded, “ ummm… No you can’t (long pause)….we close in 15 minutes.” Click she hung up on me. There wasn’t an “unfortunately we stop taking orders by a certain time” or an “I’m so sorry but we’ve stopped taking orders for the evening” or an “ our policy is ..” nothing was polite, friendly, or customer service oriented about this persons response in any shape matter or form. It was simply and quite literally appalling and abhorrent. I will be sharing my experience with others. I have such a bad taste about Ever contacting your restaurant again.

My son and I had a very strange experience at the Plymouth Davanni’s Sunday 11-1-2020. The restaurant was not very busy when we ordered, a couple customers waiting for their order and a few people seated in the dining area. We placed our order of a Calzone and a Large Deep Dish Pizza at 12:46 PM. As we were ordering 8-10 teenaged males were standing behind us none of them wearing masks or social distancing. As we chose a booth to wait for our food we noticed many more teenagers both male and female entering the restaurant. None of these teenagers were wearing masks nor social distancing yet they were allowed to order food. While waiting for our food a few of the girls decided to sit in the booth right next to us. One of the girls took the sign off the table/booth next to ours stating “Do not use this table” another girl pulled another table and chairs over next to the booth. A total of eleven girls were sitting right next to us not one of them wearing a mask. No Davanni’s employee ever said a word to these girls. I would estimate about 35 teenagers in this group were now in the restaurant. None of them wearing masks. After waiting about 30 minutes for our food my son asked an employee how much longer it would be for our order to be ready. My son was told it would be up to 30 more minutes and that sometimes Deep Dish pizzas take up to 60 minutes to prepare. The employee said he was sorry we were not told that when we ordered. 10-12 of the male teenagers were standing and waiting around the front counter/ordering area. We engaged in conversation with some of them, they did not believe in the mask and social distancing policies and were not going to abide by them. I then spoke with the manager and he said there was nothing he could do about it. I then called the Plymouth Police and asked if an officer would come and talk to the teenagers. Two Police Officers arrived and talked to the manager in private. At that time I asked for a refund for our meal as it still was not ready. I was told only the manager can authorize a refund so we had to wait for the manager to finish with the Officers. The Police Officers came out after a few minutes and told us there was nothing they could do about this and that if we did not want to stay we could take our food out with us or ask for a refund. The Officer also said that he was not going to talk to the teenagers. Our food still was not ready after 45-50 minutes so we asked for a refund and left. Again we placed our order before any of the teenagers did, we saw many of them get their orders yet ours was still not ready. The disobedient teenagers got their way, got their food and basically took over your restaurant while we were made to feel like we did some thing wrong. What did the teenagers learn from this? As a group they can do what ever they want and get away with it with no consequences Most businesses put customer and employee safety as their number one priority even over profits but that was not the case on this day. My son and I were very disappointed in the way Davanni’s handled this.
