Gallery Furniture was founded by current CEO and owner Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale in Houston, Texas, in 1982. McIngvale started the company with a pickup truck for delivery and $5,000 cash.
Although the company did well initially, but the oil industry in Texas took a turn for the worse. McIngvale took his last $10K and invested it into advertising (doing the voice over himself) on two television stations. Although he wasn’t very pleased with the ad, it did well, turning business around.
Today, Gallery Furniture has 3 locations; two in Houston, Texas, and one in Richmond, Texas. The company was recently in the spotlight after Hurricane Harvey, which flooded most of Houston. McIngvale opened his stores to be used as shelters for those who were unable to stay in their homes.

Wow just spoke to Mack himself and asked for help for our county that has been struck by wildfires. People have lost their entire belongs.
His reply-little tight on money right now call back in a week. So extremely rude, no compassion and just hung up without saying anything more.
Wow is all I have to say at this moment. I guess he’s all for show.

My name is Rosalyn Vitatoe. I teach a group of 20 first grade students. I am reaching out to you on behalf of my students at De Zavala Elementary School in the Houston Independent School District. De Zavala is located in the heart of Magnolia, in an area called ‘The East End’ of Houston. The area is economically disadvantaged. The COVID-19 situation has put my students in a situation where they are not able to take advantage of the electronic resources which the district offers online to enhance and support their learning experiences in Reading and Math. I am writing this letter to ask if your company would be willing to donate iPads or a similar device to my students to give them the opportunity that many other students have across our city.

On Sept 20/18 our daughter took us to Gallery Furniture on 99 looking for 2 nice recliners for myself and my wife.Turns out it was the best move we could do we ended purchasing each a nice leather rocker recliner and sofa to match which also reclines. We wanted to take the time to say the salesman William Smith was very helpful , courteous,took his time with us thanks to William and the quality in the furniture we ended up purchasing on that day. Then my wife set up the delivery for Oct 9/18 which at that time 2 very nice delivery men Derrick and Alonzo came and delivered our sofa and recliners they were both very nice and helpful and very courteous. In ending my wife and I give you all A plus.and our future furniture purchases we are definitely going direct to your 99 store and look up William Smith to help us. Thanks for everything we are very happy satisfied customers enjoying our beautiful sofa and recliners. We will surely be sending you all more business.

William Smith took extra careful time did not rush us which we appreciated very much. Our complete experience was AWESOME. We had our new furniture delivered on Oct 9/2018 by our choice and the 2 delivery men, Derrick and Alonzo were very very nice and helpful and very courteous set up every item where we wanted them. i will close by saying salesman and delivery men but get A plus. and when we need any items for our new home you can bet we are going to the same salesman and same store.
