Butterball was founded in June of 1940 when Ada Walker of Wyoming, Ohio, applied for a patent for her way of making turkey. Today, Butterball is one of the leading producers of turkeys in the US. The company sells more than 1 billion pounds of turkey meat each year.
Although the Butterball name has been around since 1940, the word was actually just a trademark. It became a company in 2006 when Maxwell Farms and Seaboard Corporation, who each owned half of the name, decided to join forces and create Butterball, LLC.
In 2008, the company states that it had $1.5 billion in revenue and employs more than 5,500 persons. The company is most famous for its pop-out type of timer, which indicates that the turkey is thoroughly cooked, as well as their Turkey Talk Line, where customers can ask for help with their turkey.
In March 2021, employees at the Butterball plant in North Carolina began vaccination efforts against the COVID-19 virus.
Butterball maintains a corporate office in Garner, North Carolina.

I work in Huntsville and I guess we are back to working 12 hours a day again I guess nobody cares if we have a life or not A lot of people are getting ready to quit because they have no time with their family. Something has got to be done about this it’s hard to do anything when you get off at 8 every night
Dr says
Large pipe fell from the ceiling again last night right onto the roto. Lucky no one was hurt. Had to stay late every day so far. Andcthis was a week where every day was only around 30 thousand birds. Should be able to get out by 5 every day. Andrew promised we would have a regular schedule after they started night shift. There wouldn’t be this staying late all the freaking time.
And when you try to talk to him or justin about your concerns or problem going on they dismiss you or ‘were not going to discuss that’s and AJ strutting about in his shirt that says f..k you’re feeling. Guess that’s butterballs attitude f you feelings f your life work yourself to death and shut-up.
We’re going to break if something doesnt change soon.
Daryle says
And another thing. Everything breaks so much birds fall in awkward places that equipment should be locked out. But management tells you to reach in and get the birds out. And reach around guards. They will deny it of course. But I’ve been told to hurry up and just stick my hand where it could get crushed without putting my lock on it.
And day shift works over so much every day shouldn’t they get payed the same hourly rate as night shift during the hours they overlap.
Daryle says
What AJ did to Kelli was wrong. Calling all the redhats into his office to chew her out publicly. Those tub of birds did sit there too long, but she can’t turn them into employee sale without a supervisor approving it. She called Brad 7 times to get him to come so she could do it. I know this for sure. I was there some of the times. He never came up there. He is very lazy about getting anything done. He has paper work from January he still hasn’t done. The Ozark plant is run like a Joke.
The managers don’t seem to know anything about what is going on in the plant. We lost 16 people just last week. We can’t keep anyone very long because of how horrible the conditions are. Every piece of equipment breaks every day multiple times a day. It doesn’t just make for long days but makes the work very hard and stressful in itself. We will never be able to keep people if this keeps up. No one wants to work 13 hours a day with difficult equipment. The rotos keep breaking and making bins of cut offs. That takes probably the longest time to get reworked and back on the rotos. The box makers break every single day and keep it so that boxing can’t keep up and they get between 20 to 25 bins a day. When will there be relief.
What will it take to get something fixed right. The days wouldn’t be so long and work so hard if we could just get the machine to run right. That has to be the first step to fixing the problems at the plant. Then we can get restaffed and the general attitude of the plant will increase. Throwing bonuses around isn’t helping anymore. No one cares about the money when you are frustrated and exhausted and never see your families anymore. You get depressed. Like the one guy who tried to jump off the bridge last month.
And poor Kelli is trying hard even though she herself is not even a red hat and is doing the red hat job. Having her staff walk out and calling her a cunt because he has to ask them to stay late. Someone needs to evaluate all the jobs at the plant and find where all the problems are. Maybe someone outside the plant not associated with Andrew and Justin.

I work for butterball in Huntsville Arkansas in the packaging and boxing departments we work 11 to 12 hours a day does corporate care about their employees because management here don’t
Very. Tired says
I work for the butterball plant in Huntsville Arkansas they are working the packaging and boxing departments 12 hours a day 6 days a week. We are short handed because nobody wants to work them long hours They get paid less then the rest of the departments which is not fair these people have no time with their family’s we’ve been doing this for 6 to 8 months how long are they going to kept kill people
Dr says
Are we ever going to have good days again at the ozark plant? It is hard on your body working till 8 to 8:30 every night. Machines break down constantly every day and it feels unsafe working here. No one seems to want to acknowledge how hard it is and just want o throw money around to say it’s ok to work people like this.
Very Tired says
I know how you feel I work at Huntsville and packaging and boxing work 12 hours a day to. Nobody cares
dr says
Wow our Ozark plant has got a new low. Working a holiday weekend. You. Know I’m not a young man anymore. I can’t hadlevthese 11 12 hour workdays anymore. And I have a family. I need to see them. They need to see me. What do we have to do to see our families any more. Start a union file a lawsuit jees. And what happened to if we worked so many hours straight we were required to get a ten minute break. That hasn’t happened in a LONG time. And we certainly work late hours straight.

Human Resource Department:
Please review your HR department In Huntsville, AR. Tell me it’s OK for the safety person is wrong in having a 71 yr old woman go to her Dr to get a medical release due to fact she couldn’t get up or down on a stand(unsafe). The safety mgr was suspended for this. Plus this Hr person continually verbally abuses calling safety person stupid, ignorant daily in front of witnesses. Please review. I don’t know this HR person. But abuse and discrimination comes in many FORMS.
