99 Cents Only Stores was founded by David Gold in 1982 as a means to liquidate wines at his liquor store.

After experimenting with different prices, Gold realized that customers were more likely to buy items priced 99 cents.

He soon opened an entire store full of items prices 99 cents.

The company has marketing and sales promotions based on the numbers 9 and 99, for example the first 9 customers at a new store can buy an expensive item for 99 cents.

Today 99 Cents Only Stores has more than 330 stores which sell brand name and private-label food, beverages, health and beauty aids, household goods, seasonal items, hardware, and toys.

Almost 75% of the stores are located in California. The remaining stores are in Arizona, Texas, and Nevada.

The company formerly traded publicly on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol NDN, but was taken private in 2012 by private equity firm Ares Management and the Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board.

This page is useless. Obviously no one in Corporate reviews it. Best to put complaints/comments in writing and send via email or USPS (certified, signed receipt requested ). They’ll probably ignore those too. I visited the La Brea/Willoughby store in Los Angeles yesterday—after 2 years away—and boy, how the mighty have fallen. What once was a great idea, with good prices and good stock, has deteriorated 100%, since David Gold (the founder) sold it, into a scary, dirty mess with limited options and prices that for some items are higher than at Ralphs Supermarket for that same item. Plus instances of food tampering, like staff deliberately unsealing all the turmeric spice jars and emptying out half the contents, returning jars to the shelf with broken seals and charging money. Seriously? Yep. Health violation for sure. Would be funny if it weren’t so flagrantly disgusting. Don’t see this enterprise lasting much longer.

I’m a new employee to store 118 . I applied to a store and that manager agreed to me working early and tiday as my first day he has me working late . When I called him back to tell him he was upset and simply said as to why I didn’t apoptosis they store closer to me . It made me very uncomfortable as to how am I to work with or around him .

There are no hand baskets at 260 E. 10th St., Gilroy CA 95020. They have been missing for weeks due to them being stolen apparently. I was told they weren’t going to be replaced!? I was subjected to an argumentative rep from India. Do they feel they can treat customers this way because they are 99 cents?
    Give me a break it’s 99 cents not Bloomingdale’s.

I see you district HR manager is Shirene Alexis. This woman has used her company car a Toyota Camry to drive around convicted felons and drug addicts in Upland and Fontana California. She is a very good well spoken Trinidad accent woman but she’s also a covert narcissist. Her entire family is made up of scammers and drug addicts. If you don’t believe me just Google her ex husband’s name Lincoln Anthony Berridge securities scam in 1987 in the LA times. Her is also a child molester who molested his own kids. Please do not let the Grey hair and reading glasses fool you this woman is dangerous.

I’ve been shopping 99 cents for yrs and today I’ve an issue with cashier. I’m asking the cashier to but my 2 bottles of detergent inside the bad. Cashier replied that the bottle make handle for you to carry not inside the bag. Then she turned away and said “A-hole”. I was disappointed hearing that from the cashier. I was explaining to the manager and she didn’t do anything about it. Cashier also keeps denying that she didn’t called me that. I saw her face trying to denied as much as she can when the manager were there. Cashier need to be trained on how to approach with the customer. I don’t know if I want to be back that store location again.

Just asking to put item in the plastic bag and get smart remark and a name call. That’s not worth it.

Reg: employee 2691 Eva AKA Patty
    07/12/2020 11:31am 0135 05 2691 Eva

This woman is very rude. The other day when
I was exchange some items she yelled at me
and pointed at me as if I were a child.
Then I seen her step on top of the counter
with her dirty shoes on this is where
people place there food. She did not
have any covering under her shoes at all.
This is very disturbing behavior. She is
acting very aggressive. Today when I went
shopping she had an attitude when I asked
her not to charge me for the bag because I
have EBT. She still charged me and once
again during this rude interaction she
points at me. She proceeds to over charge
me. When I checked my receipt I went back
in to the store she threw the dime at me
and did not even apoligize. And when I asked
her for her name she said Patty but my
    receipt says Eva.

Patty or Eva is discriminating against
me because I am Black and Gay, everytime
I go in there to shop. She is trying to
set me up & provoke me into having a
confrontation. But I’m not an angry
    person like her.

I seen Eva standing on the counter
with her shoes on, this is were food
is placed. And if you been to this
location you will know that you have
to walk in sumt and filth before you enter
the store. It is a really dirty location
on the out side lots of homeless people
    that are extremely dirty

She told me her name was Patty
but my receipt say Eva. She threw
my change at me at check out
    after she over charged me.

I would like to know when are you going to build a store in Chicago, actually several stores. I am tired of having to go elsewhere to purchase items feom your store. Please consider building at least one store on the south side of Chicago. It will be very much appreciated.

I would like to know why the Southern Ca. stores have better merchandise and are stocked better than the Northern Ca. stores. The store I go to sucks. Vallejo, Ca. located on Sonoma Blvd. Who decides which items go to certain stores? I think a general manager should look into that Vallejo store and make it comparable to the Southern Ca stores…The store is dirty, shelves aren’t stocked and we don’t have any of the good items that I see in other stores. I’m in two 99 cent groups and I’m so jealous of the other stores.

We encountered an incident at the Huntington Beach store located at Brookhurst & Garfield on Jan.8, 19′ that involved two dogs in the store. One of the dogs defecated at the rear of the store where all the vegetables and dairy counter are. One of the customers ended up stepping in this mess. These dogs were not in anyway a “service” animal, just a common dog. I’ve notified our local county health department of the incident along wit the corporate HQ of the “99 Cent Only Stores”. I would urge all others to report all like and similar situations to the authorities to help halt this insane practice of animals in retail setting. My next stop will be at our states capital to outlaw this type of consumer abuse.

Its so sad how just a few will ruin it for the masses. Service dog or not, I dont mind as long as the dog is well behaved and this should go without saying, but you come prepared and clean up after your pet should an accident happen. Then again, I see people who dont pay attention or simply dont care and let their hooligans run unsupervised and tear up whole sections, so it shouldnt shock me that they would do the same with their pets. No common sense or regards for other people. Smh…..

Just left the Simi Valley, CA store on Tapo Street, they should really close this store. The employee’s are useless and the Manager on duty tonight has no idea what he is doing. They have items clearly marked 50% with literally 10 signs across the isle, you go to check out and they ring up at normal price. It’s a fight to get them to correct it and then if your lucky enough you get a loser customer behind who is spending $5.00 who wants to put in his two sense when I spend at least $100.00 a week there. No thanks, will never shop there again.

Very arrogant guy who fought and knocked down a woman with a child last hoilday season 2017. It was a riot.

He put the employees into danger. He is very bad no balls to fought a woman.
The management did nothing about this.
This scenario should be brought up to govt. agency.

1/4/2018 Thursday at 1.00 pm. I believe it was cashier 5, only know it was the far end of the front door. I went to the 99 cent store at Simi Valley, L.A. st. The cashier rang up my items. When it was time to pay the items. I slide my card to the machine, it didn’t work. I ask so I don’t get the items. The cashier said no. I left the items at the store and walked out.

I do most of my purchases in the 99 cent store on Main st. in Ventura, I have been asking the never young manager why there is no HOLLYWOOD Sena De Trigo bread, it has not been for at least 4 months, he answer is always that he will order some, HE NEVER DOES, finally 2 weeks back he had ordered the cinamon which I do not care for, the answer is that they dopn’t have any available, I was in Oxnard store and BEHOLD, their it was a full rack of them, so I bought 10 so I could freeze some, Now why is it that it is available in that store and not in the store I go to ???? NEXT question, is the store sizing down or what is going on ?? upper shelves are coming down etc. less and les items are available,, good question I think.

    Corporate Office;
My daughter went to turn in her application to the Yucca Valley Ca store. She was greeted by a manager I assume because he had a different color shirt than the rest. He was rude and arrogant. My daughter graduated at 16 she spent the following year recovering from a broken foot and mouth surgery and now looking for a job. This manager Mike treated her like she was stupid. Her app clearly stated this would be her first job. But he asked over and over again. Asked her if she ever had a baby sitting job which clearly has nothing to do with your stores. She cannot have a work history if she never had a job before. Made her feel like she was worthless. If this is how he treats a possible future employee how does he treat the employees he already has. Maybe he needs some more training on how to talk to people with out making them feel like dirt. Especially those just entering the work force.

    Dear Corporate Office,

I made a quick visit to your Stockton Blvd store and ended up regretting it. I was so disgusted by the behavior of the employees, and it left me completely appalled and almost speechless.

While visiting Sacramento, CA on Friday, November 3rd 2017, a bit after 2:00 p.m., my mother, sister and I went in your store and grabbed 3 items and patiently waited in line at register 6. As the customer in front of me was being rung up, the cashier (Cashier 1) grabbed my item, which was behind the divider, and scanned it. I wasn’t sure if she saw the divider so I said, “Oh, that’s mine.” She replied, “I’m scanning it and not going to steal it.” I ignored it and continued to wait. Cashier 1 missed the last item belonging to the customer being rung up so I mentioned that the item isn’t mine, and that’s when the cashier got so offended and made numerous nasty comments. I continued to ignore it and, after 4 comments from Cashier 1, I turned to my sister and stated, “The customer service here is horrible.” This was when Cashier 1 went ballistic. Cashier 1 nastily said, “Maybe it’s not the customer service but the customer,” in which I spoke directly back to her, telling her “I don’t know what your problem is but you have issues and need help.” Cashier 1 continued to make unnecessary remarks and offered and insisted I speak with her “Store Manager”. She thought she was doing me a favor by personally escalating of the situation.
Cashier 1 dropped everything to get the “Store Manager”, a young lady working register 1.
This young lady (Cashier 2) came over and asked what happened. While explaining the situation to Cashier 2, Cashier 1 kept running her mouth and called me a liar. Cashier 1 continued to run her mouth with her eyes glaring at me, and refused to ring me up, pushing me on to Cashier 2. Cashier 2 realized her line was too long and brushed me over to register 3. The young lady (Cashier 3) at register 3 was as shocked and confused as I was at the whole ordeal and asked what happened. As I was trying to tell Cashier 3 what happened, Cashier 1 walked from the front door back to her register and taunted me every step of the way, continuing to call out “liar”. Mind you, the store was extremely busy and everyone was looking at Cashier 1 and me, though I did not once raise my voice or make a scene. It was of another disappointment when Cashier 3 informed me that the young lady claiming to be the “Store Manager” was really not the Store Manager but a colleague of Cashier 1, and the real Store Manager was then called to meet me- though it took another 10 minutes.

While waiting for the Store Manager to come out, I stood there evaluating the situation and wondered if I said or did something that could’ve possibly set Cashier 1 off. It was then that the gentleman who was standing behind me at register 6 came over to me and said, “Miss, you did absolutely nothing wrong. You didn’t do or say anything wrong. The Cashier shouldn’t have acted that way. She is the one that has a problem.”

The Store Manager eventually came out and had a quick discussion with me. She informed me that Cashier 1 was new- but that’s no reason for this sort of despicable behavior. I asked Cashier 1 be retrained but, for some reason, doubt the situation will get handled in-store, thus am making you aware of such employee and customer experience. I encourage you look over the surveillance videos to view the actions of such employee.
I’m guessing I got the entire package of ruckus for less than $3.00. It’s much more than I bargained for and a complete shame.

I was a customer at your 99cent store in Clovis, Ca
On or about the 3rd of September 2017. And Han an incident with 1 of your carts falling on me. When a store employee asked if I was alright I said I was, until the next morning when I awoke to throbbing pain from my knee to my ankle so I went right back to store & had an injury report done but the manager did not take pictures. So I took my own & sent them to the claims department to a
    Gabriela Mendoza @ corporate.
And being an elderly woman living on a fixed income I
Enjoyed shopping at your stores because of the prices,
but after the experience I had with store management & corporate I will no longer be utilizing your stores. My family all feel the same as to see their mother & grandmother treated si unkindly & treated as I was not important to any of them.

      >Nary Bianchi It escapes me how you could be elderly and be so unaware of how to handle a situation properly when you sustain an injury in a store – I’m elderly and with age comes wisdom but only if you learn along the way from your experiences in life. First of all, why in the world would you say you were alright to the employee that asked you, after a shopping cart fell on you that resulted in throbbing pain from your knee to your ankle the next day??
You could not possibly have been “alright” after a cart fell on your leg & ankle – you HAD to have been injured, yet you admit you said you weren’t. Secondly, I learned decades ago that if you get injured in a store, you immediately fill out an injury report – before you leave the store! How can the store possibly be certain that you did sustain the injury at their store when you waited till the next day to go back and then claim you got injured there? Why should they believe you? How do they know you didn’t get injured somewhere else and then tried to put the blame in their court? That is clearly your fault, not the store’s – by not being responsible for your own actions by first reporting you were “alright” and then returning to the store the next day to claim you weren’t alright is a recipe for disaster. The part of your story that is really unbelievable is the part where you reported to the store employee you were alright – after a shopping cart fell on you!! You don’t have to be old to sustain a serious injury from such an incident – yet you stated you reported you were uninjured right after it happened – and then return the next day to claim it wasn’t until the following day that you realized you were injured! I think the store would have no legal or moral obligation to believe you.

Dear CEO Geaffrey in late July early August I was shopping at the Vanowen 99 cent store and on this day I had purchased more than $20,00 I still have my recept. I was standing in line at the reguster I was next in line while in line I felt someone pushing on me and pressure on my purse as I had it over my shoulder Left. Next was my turn as the black concert belt was dirty and very wet I did not want o place my newly purchased pillows to be on he wet belt. I handed one sparkle ciquenc pillow to the checker as I was handing the second pillow to the store employee a white short heavy woman in her 30s to 40s she was pushing me too move up but I was making my purchases I also had many other items. The woman behind me she was becoming very rude and verbally abusive telling me can’t you move up no I said I handing the cashier my team to purchase she begain cutting in line ahead of me by trying too get her items onto my store bill I believe she was trying to get me to pay for her items… I said you have to wait I believe I said they need too step back. This abusive woman began started to say she was going to beat me up and called me some very bad name’s… I told her to stop the cashier she got nervous but began to talk to her I was not sure if they knew each other but the cashier was nervous.. I’m a middle aged non violent woman Disabled so I avoid physical violence. The woman starting the trouble she even threatened to beat me up out side. The cashier should of told her and the people in line to back up as was not doing anything wrong and making my purchase… I shop at your 99 cent stores 6 out of 7 days everyday. I wanted to make a police report but do not know this woman’s name. That day I got one picture of her she was covering her face because she was wrong. Yesterday 10-15-17 I’m in the store and I see her she starts up again I try o get picture for police, I purches my items then go out side to my car and she is calling me names again and she tells one of your white male employees he has no hair and capes outside he starts give me hard time I told him she started the trouble Bi trying to pickpocket my purse and get me to purchase her items by jumping ahead in line. He this employee start giving me trouble. He said don’t come in the store but I did not cause the trouble. I know that woman is a their trouble maker the cashier on that first day told me it was right as you guys lowered the shelves and I got the pillows from an employee it was the first day the came out in store. The reason to get her picture is for police. A very tall African America employee came out the first day and asked me if was ok… I old him hat woman is a white surpremiest harassing the other white woman in her dollar store Sunday… I always pay cash or chip I never have this done to me before… Please post signs and fix the area for line’s the other woman was out of line to behave in this fashion to take a criminal report too the police one needs a picture of suspect… I do have one picture this abusive woman will do this to someone else when she left she was high giving someone… I shop at other 99 cent stores but there seems too be the form of tolerated abuse among the people…. Tank you for you time and if another incident accrues I will let you know also thank you for lowering the shelves I truly believe this woman was pickpocketing my purse and trying to confuse the cashier as too make me pay for her item’s she is so very dangerous… I would never ask a customer in line ahead of me to move up and then try to get my items paid for so wrong then to say she is going to harm me I’m disabled I don’t look it at first but I m…

On October 1,2017 I was shopping at store number 326 in Palmdale California. I came across a really good deal on Cadbury chocolates and Brookside chocolates in the same display case. They were not marked so naturally I assumed they were $0.99 each since any item that is more than that is clearly marked as such. I selected 30 bags of assorted Cadbury and Brookside chocolates. In addition to that I found Classico white pizza sauce priced at two for 99 cents. The chocolates rang up at a dollar $1.99 each and the Classico white pizza sauce ring up at $0.99 each. the checkered just kept repeating this is how they ring up. I asked to speak with the manager and after waiting about 5 minutes with the line of customers stacking up behind me. The manager finally showed up. And after about 10 minutes she refused to sell them to me for $0.99 saying yeah but they weren’t marked at 99 Cents either.. I showed her a bunch of items that weren’t marked at $0.99 yet still sold at $0.99 and that was right around the checkstand. end result is I did not buy them and all of those customers had to wait for nothing. The reason I go to the 99 cent store is to find deals like this. In this case I got the carpet yanked out from underneath my feet. It is time from everybody behind me and my life that we will ever get back. Extremely dissatisfied with my experience address where everybody behind me

Please power wash the entry way of your store located at 1320 W 11th Street in Tracy California. It is so nasty and disgusting to walk on to enter the store. If you cannot do it maybe the plaza is responsible for it! I hesitated to go in the store but I did so because I need my items. I shop at 99 cents stores at various locations at the least of 12x a month. The store inside is clean and the cashier was courteous but the outside and the shopping carts are soiled with sticky, grimy, dirty, gummy, and smelly stains.

I would like to COMPLIMENT the Atascocita Store in Humble (Houston) Texas. I’ve been shopping there on and off for 7 years. In the past few months I’ve gone in the store at least 2-3 times per week. It is my FAVORITE store! I love going. ALL of the staff is friendly and helpful. I get so excited to find great bargains. I’ve noticed how hard the staff has worked to remodel and clean the store and it is always looking great. I have introduced all my friends and coworkers to shopping there and I belong to a Facebook group of 99 fans. It is such a big part of my life now. PLEASE support this store and keep it going! Hugs and thanks to all the staff for a job well done. Keep up the great work and I will do my part to introduce more people to this fun store! Long live the 99 Cent Only of Atascocita!! I am not sure who they where speaking of but to plot against one of your own employees is pretty pathetic. I will never go to that store again.

I have a bad experiences to the company ,I’m in the retail for more than 20 yeas and I’m in the management as well but I nevery treat my people like the way they treat me.

I found this site to make a comment about one of your stores. To my surprise I found lots of complaints and they gave me quite a chuckle. Pretty funny.

Maybe you guys have a very thin profit margin and can’t improve your stores. Anyhow, my complaint is the sidewalk in front of the store. It’s filthy. Looks like it’s never been pressure washed ever! Maybe it’s the LL not doing their job.

P.S. Love the price of the produce!

I am a regular customer at one of your stores. This store is number 213, located at 1425 South Victoria Avenue Ventura California 93003. Since this past summer, the store has not been managed as well as before. They may have new management. The store is not very clean, when inventory comes in, it is often stacked very high over customer head heights until at some point it is put on the shelves, and sometimes that takes days. There is sometimes water on the floors that is not cleaned up promptly, only signs set out. The produce areas are dirty and items are not displayed well, there are not enough people on registers, sometimes only two registers open and more than one line down isles waiting for checkers to get done. They seem to have a large turnover of employees because there are often new employees who don’t know what they are doing so they are very slow to check you out so this accounts for long lines and extended customer waiting and adds to frustration, The newer cashiers don’t all make eye contact or smile to greet customers, they don’t try to be fast or efficient. I feel there is a breakdown in management for good training and follow up of staff, store cleanliness and store safety.

OK so why is the $.99 only stores named $.99 only if you sell items from $.99 cent. To selling ltems from $1.99 – 2.99. – 3.99 – 4.99 and up to $9.99 so you should change the name of the store. I think someone should take you to court by now for falts advertising

I was woriking at 99 for 5 months on 2942 Thousand oaks san antonio tx and i would like to tell us that I dont have any idea why this company allows amorous relationships in their employees, especially Juan Ruiz (manager) and Alexandra Rodriguez (asistent manager). They take all the time the same day off and they don’t care if all the employees knows about their relationships. They leave the store any time that they want and nobody tell nothing and sometimes at night schedules they drink alcohol inside the store. This happen every week and makes the store look bad.

    Attention Mr. Geoffrey Covert,
We are the friends and family of an employees of the 99 cents store located on Live Oak in Dallas, Texas. Our intent is to communicate what we perceive to be an extreme case of Harassment, Discrimination and Hostility being demonstrated by ALL members of management at this location.
Mr. Covert, as a direct result of our collective allegations, several non managerial employees has been terminated, while the most offensive managerial employees remains.
Several employees (both current and former), has communicated to us undividually and/or collectively, that many employees are force and intimidated into partucipating in discriminatory behavior against ONE frequent African American customer. The managers appear oblivious to the fact that the store environment has become toxic and contagious. Store employees, security, vendors and customers are openly duscussing this matter with each other, with other customers, with their family, with their friends, with employees of the companies they represent and ect. Now, the matter has become a cancer that requires immediate and corrective action. To this end, we took the liberty of forwarding a detailed complaint to channel 11 and the AGs offices, complete with a listing of ALL known offenders.
The customer that is being targeted is extremely intelligent, well-dressed, formly educated and is a multi-milliinaire. She is a member of one of the wealthiest and most prominent families in Dallas. Her family members would never shop in your store; however, she spends a fortune with your company. Your unprofessional employees has the audacity to continuously create a hostile environment behind her back. A female African American manager has been requesting that employees and vendors, do not engage in conversation with this customer. She is unaware of their actions!
We shop at your stores and desire to see a complete overhaul of staffing at this store. African Americans just celebrated MLK birthday, yet they are demonstrating hostility, discrimination, envy, hate, low-self esteen, divisiveness, pettiness and old fashioned jealousy. How pathetic!
We highly suggest that they seek and secure new employment immediately. We will not remain silent as this unappreciative group of rogue employees continue to spread hate like a cancer.
We are elated to share this information.

This is a complaint in regard to an incident that occurred on December 10, 2016!!! The time was around approximately 9:47 p.m. when I walked through the door at your .99 cents store location in 10220 Almeda Genoa Rd. Houston, Texas 77075. And, I am fully aware of the time that the store closes as, I am a local consumer and customer. The manager on duty that night was a young Hispanic gentlemen by the name of Luther, whom is very professional and courteous at all times that I have dealt with him. However, I could not recall the name of the other employees that I encountered this particular evening. First of all, I was immediately approached at the door by your store security guard a older black gentleman who was very unprofessional and rude towards me. And, this was not the first time this has occurred with this same security guard in regard to the time your closes. However this time your store Security guard, he abruptly told me and rudely that I had less than 5 minutes to shop. And then I explained to him that it was 9:47 p.m. and he insisted on arguing and also harassing me at this point to me that he didn’t care because according to him that time on my cell phone did not matter even after I offered to show it to him. Then, after I shopped and was about to approach the register, around at that time it was 9:56 p.m.. Then all of a sudden, your Cashier this young black lady average height rather large in size ran to the register that was the one closest to the door. She rudely yelled out to me and unprofessionally with an attitude that she was ready to check out my items now, because she had to be back up there to store in morning at 8:00 a.m.. I told her your Cashier that I understood her frustration being over worked and obviously under paid. And, that was not my problem since I am the customer and I could care less about what happens with your store. And, that she needed to complain and be angry with corporate and her manager not me and the customers. And, then your Cashier this young lady seem to get very irritated with me as I responded to her unprofessional-ism that she provided to me as a customer just shopping at the .99 cents store. Also, the young lady informed she had 2 jobs and that she was 42 years old and that she did not need this job and that she also has a college degree, when I explained to her that I would be contacting the .99 cents Corporate office. In regard to this constant harassment, rudeness, poor customer service and unethical business practice that involves locking the customers out before the closing time of 10:00 p.m. or even rushing them out of the store before closing. I can tell you as a customer who have constantly shopped at your Almeda Genoa location that this has become a problem that continues to thrive on-going without any course of action in regard to your employees or Management. I have enjoyed shopping at all of your .99 cents stores in the surrounding area, through out the years here in Houston, Texas and Pasadena, Texas location.. I even remember when you opened your Almeda Genoa location. However, I believe this is a terrible and unethical shopping experience for me and to all the customers who shop and spend their dollars at your .99 Cents store location. I should not as a customer have to be entertained by this type of misconduct. And, this recent incident and past incidents of harassment, rudeness and poor customer service from your employees and unethical business practices. I understand that as a consumer, I could easily spend my money with your area competitors, The Dollar Tree, The Dollar General Store or even Walmart were they welcome their customers and provide the customers with a great customer service experience, and not try to run off their customers into the hands of your competitors. Going forward, I and other neighbors in the community as consumers refuse to be treated with disrespect and harassment from your employees at this particular .99 cents store. Furthermore, I believe this particular .99 Cents store location is overdue for an investigation of your employees, whom seem to be making-up their own rules and regulations, without any regard to who is really in charge and I believe this starts with upper management, as well as corporate.

On Dec. 31 I purchased a pkg. of tomatoes. When at home, I noticed there were three that were spoiled. I couldn’t take them back until 1-217 . The manager Henry gave me a hard time trying to compare it to returning milk after 5 days. He could not give me a policy for returning produce. It is well known that produce is not the freshest at 99 Stores. My mistake was not opening the box and checking the tomatoes. The manager Henry did this to me once before when I returned somthing. In the future, I will avoid this store.

I would like to share my shopping and return experience at 99 Cents Only Stores #228 at 2515 Summersville Rd, Antioch, CA 94509.

Today when I approached to the cashier I told her before check out I want to return a pineapple which I bought on Jun 9th, the reason I return is the pineapple turned in dark brown color, it is bad unable to eat. The cashier said you cutted it off? Of course, otherwise how did I know it is bad? And then she called a man out, the man told me it is too late to return. What means too late? I show him the receipt mentioned clearly “exchange or store credit within 9 days of purchase up to 9 items”, today is Jun 17th, absolutely within 9 days. The man called another man (store manager) out, the manager repeated it is too late to return, vegetable have to return on same day or next day. But the return policy never mentioned that, I asked the manger give me his business card, he just asked the man who called him out wrote down a phone number for me to call, I asked the manger to call the number with me at that time, he refused. I asked him write down return not accepted on Jun 17th or sign on the receipt, he refused either and walked away. I asked him don’t go he said he has other things to do and left.

It is pineapple not vegetable, is 99 Cents Only Stores management expect your customers cut off all unknown items to check it out whether still good within 2 days? Further, the manager didn’t told me he is manager until I asked, the only thing I can do is copy his name “Ravi” down from his badge. Due to the manager’s attitude I left the pineapple in the store and didn’t buy anything.

She was cashier and I understand they have there bad days cause I also was a cashier but to be rude to that extent is unbelievable. No smile, or even how are u today or have a good day, but all my children and I got was her rolling her eyes and complaining to another employee who was behind me how she was about to clock out. Even my daughter was like wow why is she so mad. I will never go back or recommend this store to anyone 99 cent store, Margarita Rd, 40355 Winchester Rd, Temecula Arroyas 92591 and the cashiers name was Shaena

fabulous, not only does he treat people well, but went out of his way to ensure

I was at the 99cent store in Houston, Texas store #2809. The manager and one of her employees were on the phone talking and cursing loud. They were on the clock . I asked them if they could not talk so badly. The employee apologized but the manager she was very rude. She never apologized. I when i further approached her she looked at me up and down like I was trash. I complemented on her performance in previous times that I have been there she was even more rude and dismiss me further. I don’t think she deserves to be management here or at all. This experience is not going to stop me from going back I just think the manager here needs to be retrained or fired. Thank you for your time.

I give warning to customers who shop at the Apache Junction, Arizona 99 CentStore whose address is: 3003 Apache Trail, Apache Junction, Az.
    as follows:
WARNING: Be very careful if you shop at the
99 CentStore, 3003 Apache Trail, Apache Junction, Az.

    On December 5, 2013 at 5:30 P.M. I fell at the
entrance of their store on loose and broken
cement directly in line with the entry door and
landed about 3 feet from the door. Distance
from where I fell to the landing point was
    approximately 10 feet.

At the precise moment I fell, I saw a woman
exiting the store. She was stunned to see me
fall asking if I was alright. I told her, I can’t
get up. The lady ran back into 99cents store
    for help.

Unbelievable luck prevailed for me, there
was a Paramedic who had just checked out
and was already on her way to help me since
    she also saw me fall.

Somehow, she got me up and onto a chair
then proceeded to call Rural Metro for an
Ambulance which I protested. She cautioned
me that I could not stand.

During the ten minute wait, not one single
employee of 99 cents store came out to inquire
as to how I was. Obviously, no one took an
accident report. Pure negligence of 99cents
    store!

I was taking to the ER where I would learn I
had fractured my hip. Not a good thing at my
age, I am currently 75 years old. They were
about to check me in for surgery however, I
am not a doctor/hospital person and told them
no. They gave me a wheelchair and a walker.
    Hospital Staff was great.

The hip was not my only problem, my Caps
loosened, I prolapsed, my right leg is still to
this very day causing excruciating pain, I am
    walking slightly hunched.

When I called the corporate office in February
2014 I was told to contact Broadspire which is
not only 99 cents store insurer, they also own
    Broadspire.

Arizona Department of Insurance required 90
day settlement which 99 cents store violated.

Despite the fact that the store overhead lights
were blown out and clearly the broken cement
had been there at least 2 years, Broadspire felt
they were not negligent and made an insulting
offer of $1,000.00 to me at end of summer of
2014 and/or almost one year after I was injured.

The Ambulance bill was $500.00, ER $5,000.00
that one thousand dollars would not pay for either.
Those costs are only the tip of the iceberg.

I remain in pain all because of the horrible negligence
of 99 cents store who is completely aware that a great
deal of their customers are senior citizens. As far as
I know, the entrance cement still has not been repaired
nor have light bulbs been replaced.

I can only say, should you patronize this store and fall,
you will be taken on a sleigh ride by these unscrupulous
people. I will never shop in the AJ 99centsstore or any
of their stores. This company has acted in bad faith and
I refuse to contribute to their profits.

If it happened to me, it can happen to you….be careful or
just do not shop at 99cents store, they could care less
about the well being of their customers.

I am a former California resident (as are many of my friends) currently living in Meridian/Boise, ID. One thing we all have in common is that we all miss The Amazing 99 Cent Only store!! Boise is the home of Boise State University as well as having Hewlett Packard, Micron and the headquarters for Albertson’s.. Trader Joe’s has located here and there’s talk that an In ‘N Out Burger will soon be locating here. We all think that Meridian/Boise, ID would be a great place to have a store! Please, please, please come to Meridian/Boise! Thank you for giving this some thought!

I love the 99 store especially the fresh produce. I live in the everegreen part of san jose, california. There is only one store in san jose on san carlos about 25 to 30 mins from my house. That store is so tiny and the parking lot isterrible.

I wish you would open more stores in san jose. The next closest one is 45 mins one way.
