Twitter experienced rapid growth, with 40,000 tweets per day at the beginning of 2007 and 400,000 tweets per day by the end of the same year.
By the company’s sixth birthday in 2012 it had 140 million users and 340 million tweets per day.
In 2013 Twitter went public, trading on the NASDAQ under the symbol TWTR. The Initial Public Offering raised $1.82 billion.
Today Twitter is one of the ten most visited websites worldwide. Twitter claims 230 million users.
