Raley’s Supermarket, also known as Raley’s Family of Fine Stores, was founded in Placerville, California, in 1935 by Thomas Raley. Originally named Raley’s Drive In Market, the company now has headquarters in Sacramento, California.
The company operates a chain of supermarkets mainly in and around the Sacramento area under the names Nob Hill Foods, Food Source, Raley’s, and Bel Air Markets. The company is still family owned and operated by Raley’s daughter and son-in-law. Raley’s Supermarket had annual revenue in 2016 of $3.2 billion. There are currently 121 locations and more than 12,000 full time employees.
Raley’s also operates 11 Aisle 1 gas stations and has been rated as #38 in the 2009 list of Top 75 North American Food Retailers. The company has stiff competition from other markets, such as Costco and such was forced to close a few under performing locations in 2012.
