Postmates History

Postmates was founded in 2011 by Sam Street, Sean Plaice, and Bastian Lehmann. The company operates a courier service in 18 US cities.

What makes Postmates different is that they will deliver almost anything from any store or restaurant to customers. Most couriers only deliver food or paperwork, but Postmates will deliver anything they can get a driver for. The company uses GPS and mobile phone apps to take orders and schedule drivers for delivery.

The company has used outside funding for start up purposes and most recently received $80 million in Series D funding through Tiger Global Management, Spark Capital, and Slow Ventures.

As of early 2015, the company announced that it had more than 2.5 million successful deliveries, and more than 13,000 couriers.

PADF attain unending tranquility.

Hi everyone,

Thank you very much. It seems like many people on this board have had negative experiences with Postmates. I’m sorry to hear of your troubles. I’ve been working for Postmates for about 1 month. Not to sound particularly philosophical but I’ve discovered that like most things in life my experiences as a courier reflect and correlate strongly to my overall state of mind. When I bring and exude good energy in line with Sinequanonology, I tend to receive it back–sometimes overabundantly financially and interpersonally. I have consistently received tips as much as $40 by chatting up the innumerable gorgeous healthy young ladies who use our service. They love me and I love them. It’s all love. Like Kenny Kravitz said we have to: “Let Love Rule” including in our return trips to Curacao and the most pleasurable realms of Tropical Paradise.

Customer service sucks! I contacted them to explain that my order was incorrect and was unable to eat the food that was delivered 🙁 (after waiting so patiently) customer service contacted me to explain that it is not their fault that the order was incorrect, in other words to bad to sad! So I basically had to throw $40.00 in the trash Thanks Postmates. I should’ve just used Uber Eats like I usually do.
#Postmates Sucks and it’s expensive.
I removed the name of the restaurant because I feel that Postmates is responsible for making sure that customers using this service are satisfied.

I had a HORRIBLE experience using Postmates in Charlotte, NC as well. I only used them once, and was very skeptical about doing so especially after my co-worker told me that she was charged twice for her order (a total of more than $50) and had a difficult time getting a refund. Reluctantly, I ordered from Tijuana Flats. My order was never delivered to me. Like many others that have commented, I tried to reach out to Customer Service via email. I sent them a long elaborate email about what had happened to me. After several hours of waiting, a Customer Service Rep proceeded to tell me that it was my fault. She stated that I didn’t answer my phone or texts. I told her that I was standing in the lobby of my workplace and was looking when the alleged phone call occurred along with Company security and our administrative staff. No one saw anyone from Postmates arrive. We even checked with the company next door. My order was not delivered to me, neither was it returned to the restaurant! This is VERY unprofessional…I also never got my refund. That was my FIRST and LAST time using this company…

Haven’t used postmates, but someone who stole my debit card # (twice) did. Not happy that no one asks to see the card when food is purchased, if you did then this would not have happened, lots of exposure to liabiilty. Thanks to this wonderful experience, I WILL NEVER USE POSTMATES.

Yesterday evening I ordered a $12 bowl of Ramen and am being charged nearly $40. The customer service rep that I was connected with sent me a list of possible reasons why I was being charged so much and extremely vague fees that may or may not have been added to my bill. Then proceeded to add that Postmates is very up front about everything with their customers. FALSE! If these additional fees and upcharges had been disclosed before I ran my card I would not have ordered. Even on my final receipt these charges are not broken down or reflected. If you’re in Atlanta DO NOT USE POSTMATES! I should have just used Caviar.

Update: After 3 days of being ignored and givin the runaround I was able to be connected to a supervisor in the financial department who was able to refund me the full $17 deliver fee I was charged.

How did you contact them?

I would highly advise against using Postmates. Last night I ordered for the first time and several things from my order were missing, everything was 85 degrees, and they do not have an option to contact them either via chat or phone, so I was forced to wait for a response via email. Once I did receive a response, I was not apologized to for the cold food and was offered a refund for less than the missing items. With an exceptionally high delivery fee ($13 and some change) I expect a much better delivery experience. Customer service has been far better in the past from Doordash and GrubHub. I understand that experiences may vary with individual restaurants and drivers, but the fact that I didn’t receive so much as an apology for the state of my very expensive order is what was ultimately made this a very negative experience.

I’ve worked for Postmates for 3 months full time as a driver in Los Angeles then I noticed that the dispatchers were using there application to open my camera, emails, listen and record my phone calls and track my GPS then sending people to harass me while I’m working. Very unethical and law breaking bunch of people that do not care about the customers or drivers. When you call or text to display an issue they tell you to keep it to yourself and lie to the higher ups. Worst company to work for.

They randomly suspended my payment method on their website a while back, and refuse to lift the suspension. Would actually have liked to have been a customer, but I guess they don’t want me.
They are refusing a valid form of payment for no reason at all.
Get your s**t straight, PM

No wonder it’s dead slow, you’re refusing customers.

In early April I was sick and wanted an amazing burger to be delivered to my home. I don’t eat burgers often and because I was sick I wanted a very special and expensive burger from The Royale. I ordered my burger rare and it came to me medium well at best. I ordered Mayo (I don’t keep it in my home) and I got everything but Mayo such as ketsup and mustard both. I wanted my burger with bacon and blue cheese crumbles and got neither. I also ordered sweet potato chips and was given chips and pico. In essence I got a dry, plain, overcooked burger with an undesirable side dish. My point is that I could’ve driven to Hardee’s for a decent burger but I wanted an extraordinary burger delivered to me. Extraordinary comfort food.

I immediately complained and got no response for close to two weeks. I’m then told that I didn’t submit my order correctly. They blamed me and suggested that I didn’t know how I wanted my own burger or for being too stupid to know how to place an order online. I responded and again I waited. I responded again…and again and again. FINALLY , today I get a response that I will be reimbursed $2.83!!!!!! Obviously someone’s intent was to “slap me in the face” for all of my complaining.

This was my first and last experience with Postmates. The only positive was that I had a pleasant driver. What happened to integrity and giving a quality service, not to mention CUSTOMER SERVICE????

Yeah, Postmates is garbage, including their customer service and the independent contractors (i.e., delivery persons) they employ. Postmates has truly created the perfect roadmap regarding how to fail as a business.

Jane it is unfortunate for postmates, apart from atrocious partner service, postmates also bas mechanisms to cheat its workers out of their personal earnings by knowingly issuig debit cards and dispataching to merchants who donr accept them….

I can assure you I will take this further.social media and my state’s at attorney general office will hear my complaint ….futhermore your corporate office will be made aware of these extortionist tactics….

Think twice about using POST MATES – there is no phone number to call if you have a problem – Why is that? I placed an order but I cant tell if it went through and I need to add delivery comments. All of the phone numbers I can find are disconnected.

To whomever this may concern;

On February 11, 2017, my coworker and I ordered food with Postmates on my account. We waited, but our food never arrived at our work place. I wrote to your customer service to find out what happened

Your Customer Service Professional Shelbee H. responded back basically telling me it was my fault that we hadn’t gotten our food because I didn’t pick up my phone.

First–the driver never called my phone. If he had, I would have picked up and let him know that I would be outside in a couple of minutes.

Second–the driver didn’t even bother trying to walk into our place of work to try and find me. He just sat in his car beside our work place before he left with the food we had paid for–and yes, I have a screenshot of the fact he just sat there.

Third–being that my coworker and I work in a customer service environment, it is NOT appropriate to blame it on the customer.

After providing Shelbee with my phone number and delivery address, Shelbee agreed to give me a refund, but still blamed it on me having the incorrect information on my account. I went and checked my account and OF COURSE I DIDN’T HAVE MY OWN INFORMATION WRONG.

Your company needs to make sure your employees know how to actually do their job correctly.

I am a customer at 5314 Hillen Drive in Oakland California. I have been forced to write you because your company has placed our account on hold. About five-days ago I ordered a large order from Popeyes but it never arrived. When I tracked said order, your system indicated that the order had been delivered. I couldn’t call anyone to inquire what happened, so I ordered the same thing again but this time at a different Popeye’s in Oakland. Fortunately, I received this order. Later that evening, I received an email from Postmates informing me that my account was placed on hold due to suspicious activity. I didn’t expect this. I did expect an apology but I didn’t expect to be even further inconvenienced. Ironically, if the Postmates courier had properly delivered my order. I would never have ordered a second order from Popeye’s. It is now five days later and I have yet to receive an apology, a resolution or an explanation for this pitiful policy you have enforced. I am exceptionally upset, for good reason, and I plan to tell anyone who has an ear about your policies and procedures. I order almost daily from Caviar, GrubHub, Doordash, and Eat24 and so I feel confident that I know a few things about your competition, and I can assure you that your customer service policies are the worst. If you have a customer service phone number, it must be a closely guarded secret, because I have never been privy to such a number. All the other food service providers are happy to provide an actual phone number to their customers, just in case problems arise that can not be easily resolved by system e-mail. No, not Postmates. I always got the imimpression that Postmates was not concerned with their customers’ satisfaction. If that’s the case, then you are doing a great job in providing the very worst in customer care. Great job. Keep up the bad work! By the way, I shared by awful experiences with your company on FACEBOOK, Twitter, and Instagram
