WePay, Inc. was founded in 2008 by Bill Clerico and Rich Aberman. Aberman found he had difficulty collecting money from friends for his brother’s bachelor’s party, and after looking at the various online payment systems available, Aberman reached out to Clerico for help. WePay was later founded in California with monetary support from Max Levchin, a cofounder of PayPal, and angel investor Ron Conway.
Originally working out of the Boston area, WePay is now located in Palo Alto, California. What started off as a small endeavor is now one of the most-used payment services online. WePay covers many different areas of payment and finance including allowing small business owners to accept credit cards and utilizing crowdfunding for those who wish to seek funding for start-ups.
In 2011, the company had 30 employees, and by mid-2015 had grown to 100 employees, with an expected growth to at least 200 employees by the end of 2016.
WePay is #62 in the 2015 Inc. 5000 list of Fastest-Growing Companies in America with a three-year growth rate of 4,354%. The company has 93 employees and had $24.9 million in revenue in 2014. WePay is #5 in the Inc. list of Top Software Companies and #5 in Top San Jose Companies.

I have spent a work week trying to get help with updating banking info. We have money from a client just sitting in the WE PAY account with no access. I have been unsuccessful as I see this is very popular with this site. I think we need to get our money then deactivate the account.
Customer Service is a huge successful part of business growth and I’m coming across several businesses (in CA) that only do business through email. It’s frustrating and unprofessional.

We have been using wepay since the first of the year with no problem until now.Nothing on our account has changed since we first signed up. The company is impossible to reach by phone and keeps telling me via email that the bank has denied their deposit but our bank said they have not received any payment from we pay or an attempt to make a deposit. We would really appreciate it if they made more of an effort to help us get the money owed to us and quit putting the blame on the bank who would be more than willing to talk to them if we pay would call them. I will not use this service anymore because it has been weeks and still not able to get our money. I am very unhappy with this company and hope they will rectify the problem immediately!

Case of missing donations.
Please help us. We have international donors who have sent funds to the fundly website that were to clear and showed up on screen. Days later, they disappeared. The claim was that the transactions were rejected, though the donors say this is impossible. They use their cards wordwide without problems and would like to send much more once we have resolve.
One donor even wonders if funds are being redirected. Such problems should not exist and we really need your help. Is there Gateway issues that may be creating this situation? Please let us know, or perhaps provide a phone number where we can speak with someone directly to track down the issue and get immediate resolve.
Thank you,

This company is supper unprofessional!!! I have done a few jobs for a very good client of ours who always pays his bills on time. Wepay has made paying there invoice a nightmare for me and the client!!! I signed up with mhelpdesk who offered discounted merchant services processing threw WEPAY and Im very disappointed I chose wepay as a processor!!! First off they normally hold the funds for 5days which is a major inconvenience in it’s self, but besides that they refunded my client on 18,000 dollar invoice and did not notify me of the refund. My client had to notify me the money was returned and my client has been going back and fourth with them now for over a week trying to get me paid. On top of this I still have not had any direct communication from WE-Pay or M-helpdesk on the status of my payment. I have contacted M-helpdesk multiple times with no resolution. I have tried to find contact info to WE PAY and there is no phone number to reach them at all. This company has cost me several thousands of dollars in lost revenue and now a very un-happy customer who we have done excellent work for. Any company that hides be hind a computer with no way of communication is a scam!!! #1 Rule in buisness is excellent customer service!!! My Customers can pick up the phone and call me anytime!!!

I have just received a letter from the IRS notifying me that I owe $12,000 (that is not a typo) in taxes and penalties for income earned by a not for profit organizations of which I was president at the time. All checks were made payable to the npo and mailed to the organization’s treasurer, however, somehow my personal social security number was used to report the income rather than the organization’s tax I.D.
Needless to say, this is concerning. I have not been able to reach anyone to help straighten this out which is even more troubling..
