The Kellers sold the chain in 1995 for $9.8 million to local area investors. The company went public for a short while, but as the business began to fail, it was forced to file for bankruptcy in 2009. The company went private once again, after coming out of bankruptcy in 2010.
Due to the coronavirus, many restaurants are struggling, including Tumbleweed locations.

I took my family to tumbleweed in Chillicothe Ohio. The lady seating people said it was going to be a wait as she swept dirt on my wife’s shoes and no one waiting to be seated. We waited for 10 minutes with 75% of the restaurant open for service for her to say it’s going to be awhile we only have two servers and I’m not fighting with them to seat you and put a burden on them adding another person (literally said those words). I spoke to the manager but by far the worst service I’ve received at any restaurant. I couldn’t believe this lady was the face of the restaurant as you enter for dinner with my family.
On Tuesday, April11, my friend and I visited the Tumbleweed on Outer Loop in Louisville, KY. When we finished our meal, I noticed there were ants on our table. I asked to see the manager and the waitress said it would be a few minutes, 20 minutes later the manager finally came to our table. I told her about the ants and she said “I am so sorry, I know about the ants and I called the pest control company and they can’t get here until tomorrow. I have cleaned everything but they are still here.” She offered to take 10% off of our meal and went back to change the bill and came back and said “Oh I’m sorry, I can’t take anymore money off because you all got the buy 1 get 1 free deal.” WELL I was not very happy. That was gross to have ants in a restaurant and she should have not charged us for any amount of the meal and not just offer to take 10% off and then not take anything off!!!! If you have bugs in a restaurant, you should not open!!!!!
Visited New Albany IN location on Mar 21, 22 approx. 2:30 pm. As usual, no greeter at hostess desk. Waitress finally showed attention and pointed at booth so I could seat myself.
Same waitress seated couple after me and proceeded to wait on them. I looked at her as if to show I didn’t understand why she was waiting on people seated after me. She would look at me and then ignore me and look away. She proceeded to waiting on a second table seated after me at which time I sought her attention to remind her I was seated before the last two tables. She was quick to let me know that my waitress was in the back not taking care of her tables. I told her that providing service to other tables seated after me was a problem. She informed me in front of other customers listening that it was not her problem. She proceeded to wait on a third table seated after me and I could hear her bad mouth me to the customers. Finally another waitress emerged from the back and instead of coming to my table went to yet another new table to take an order. At which time I informed her I was seated before that table. She then excused herself and took my order. I should have just left at this point.
Terrible experience from start to end. Requested to speak to manager about the waitress being rude, not providing service, lack of team effort, throwing other waitress under bus even if she was in the back not taking care of her tables and bad mouthing me to other customers.
Manager not in control or managing her store very well. Definitely will not go back and will most definitely share my poor experience with others.
Salem, Indiana Tumbleweed is a disgrace to the name. Worst management I have ever seen. Manager sees two servers walk out and many customers walk out and what does she do? She gets in her car and goes home! Our entire order was screwed up and no way of having it fixed so we paid $80 for three meals that we barely ate! Will not be back! Beyond mad…
I’m ok with waiting longer in these times of employee shortages because I completely understand. I have developed more patience these days. What I don’t have patience for is waiting at the Hostess booth at the Tumbleweed in Brooks, having 2 waitresses look at me and a MANAGER look at me and totally ignore me for more than 10 minutes with no acknowledgement. We walked out and went to the one on Outer Loop and was acknowledged immediately. That is bad business and uncalled for. The one in Brooks doesn’t run right without the waitress behind the bar and I noticed she wasn’t there that day. When a manager ignores you, it’s bad.
Worst service EVER. took over an hour to get food that was wrong…bbq sauce on buffalo app..two managers argued it was buffalo. Come to find out cook had put bbq sauce in buffalo spot of sauces. Bf ordered margarita that never came.
Was at Jeffersonville Tumbleweed 7/11/21 brought me wrong order and did even bring my mushrooms till I told server. Then they were cold in the middle. Then I noticed the chip Bowl. It was Filthy so bad the chips were sticking to the sides. Wish I could put the pictures of the Bowl on here. Made me sick after seeing it.
Salem indiana store tumbleweed Sunday every Sunday there this past was worst out of mild sauce napkins mac and cheese ect what the heck can’t get what you want ?? I don’t take it out on server she was nice food wasn’t that great most likely won’t be back
Visited Chillicothe, Ohio store today. Got the BBQ chicken salad, IT WAS HORRIBLE!! The lettuce was old / gross! The cabbage was soft. Tried to make it better by covering it with extra cheese and sauce. Being a server for MANY years, there is no way that should have left the kitchen. The cook / chef should be ashamed he let the server bring that to the table!
Another issue, the bathroom was filthy! You know what they say, if the bathroom is dirty imagine what the kitchen is like!
You need to pay a visit to this store and bring them up to par. The staff seemed very nice and I’m sure their tips are effected by the rest of the restaurant. Which is very unfair to them. This place used to be top notch. NOT ANY MORE?

On Saturday 9/21/19 I around 4 pm went to the Tumbleweed on dixie in valley Station. I went in to carryout, considering I had park out front at the end, walking with a cane. I was only going to get a bag of chips and salsa. So I waited after afew minutes I saw to girls I said is anyone working back here? I heard the girl say to the other girl I’m on break, so I said again Is anyone working back here? I was going Hello, hello. Then the manager called a meeting and there was a girl standing by the door. When the manager was done the girl walked off. So did I. I went to my car and park next door at Pizza Hut and got a pan pizza. I got a gift card I was going to use, but you can’t use it if you can’t get anyone to wait on you. Very disappointed in tumbleweed this time. I know there are usually long waits to get your food there but getting waited on is worse.

I was in your shelbyville store a couple of friday ago.We order are drinks it took forever to get them when we did receive them it was not are server! We ask what took so long the server reply that are server is only 17 and she can’t run them out!! The experience was horrible its not are server fault shes a kidl Jasmine was her name !!! Some one needs to address this my friends and I will never be back.

THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN DIXIE HWY …
My wife, kids and I visited the Tumbleweed in Floyds knobs indiana at highlander point on 5-14-17. This one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. We were greeted and seated in a timely manner. Then our servee Danielle said I will be right back with you. Then she proceeded to set and talk to the table across from us for 15 min. One of the other serbers noticed we had been setting there for a while without even getting our drinks so she got the manager. Manager got our drink order and offered us a large queso. Danielle brought it to us then went right back to talking to the table across from us. I interrupted her and said we are ready to order. She took our order then it took forever for food to come out. When it was all said and done food come out cold and they still charges me dor queso that manager offered us for free. We normally go to tumbleweed 2 to 3 times a month spending 75 to 100 a visit. Pretty sure you have lost all my business.
I just ate at the jeffersonville store thats the dirtyiest place ive ever seen for a restraunt i will never be back ever where i looked there was dirt floorsand they just opened she got our order my husband walked out u need to send somone just to walk in and take a look u can tell it hasnt been cleaned in a long time .i payed but will never be back again food in our booth from last nite u need to sneak in and check it out i hope we dont get food posining use to be good CLEANNN NNNNN N
