Togo’s is a chain of casual restaurants that offer mainly sandwiches and salads. The business was founded in 1968 in San Jose, California, near the University. The original location was so small that only 4 customers would fit inside, thus, most of the orders were To-Go. The company began franchising in 1978.
Today, Togo’s is owned by a private equity firm, Mainsail Partners, which purchased the company in 2007. Togo’s has 250 locations in 8 states and is often found in the same building as Baskin-Robbins since the sandwich shop was owned by the same parent company (Dunkin’ Brands) between 1996 and 2007.
Togo’s provides online training for their employees in both English and Spanish. Almost all Togo’s locations are franchised.
In January 2020, Togo’s began offering big incentives to entice franchisees.
The company maintains a corporate office in San Jose, California.

Is it possible the difference is either an unauthorized tip or sales tax?

Togos on Arnold in Martinez, As soon as the sandwich maker started my sandwich the taller dude in back wanted money. I stated i would like to finish my order but money was required first. I put my money on counter along with chips and finished my order. because he stated no price and would not give a receipt, i put too much on the counter and got change back. i asked for a receipt to respond to corporate and they stated phone number was on front window. IT WAS NOT>
Could we finish ordering our food and then pay. The tall young dude could of made another sale or two if he had not been so greedy.

So I signed up for the Togo’s App and received a $3.00 off loaded up to my account. When I went in to my loco Togo’s I tried to use my discount and was denied. They said they could not pull up my account? What the hell? I am signed up with 6 + Fast Food Restaurants and Togo’s is the only one that does not work correctly. If Togo’s wants to stay in business then get with it. I only stopped as I had a 3.00 off. I am frustrated as Togo’s was my go to place for sandwiches before so many opened up.

Can I get info on how much meat (oz.) are in your regular and large sandwiches.
Thank you

Went to Togo’s today in Napa California. It is a Togo and a Baskin Robbins. The staff ignored myself and three other customers. After 10 minutes of waiting I asked if there was more than one person. She said she would help us but was off shift in those 10 minutes. Some man came iin looking like he just got out of his car sleeping.. I said #9 toasted sour dough but please toast PRIOR to the mayo and mustard. Three times I reminded him before he finally got it and used 1 1/2 loafs of bread. Finally got and the sandwich was amazing but the poor guy was by himself, and lost 5 people while he was the only on the counter. This happened at 2:30pm on 4/3/19…never saw another staff member….worst service I ever received there, but the best sandwich. Plus I wanted a 6 inch and got a 10 inch at the same price. He was soooo fustrated,, at a monetary loss for that store.

First visit to this Togo’s 1111 Meridian Ave. San Jose Ca, ordered #24. Asks “what produce?” This location set up different, need to walk over to see choices, come back, then she reads me a list. OK fine. I ask it be toasted, girl making my sandwich already put the avacado on, I mentioned I preferred it not heated and other Togo’s usually have done it that way. Girl who took my order tells me “well I work here so I would know better than you.” I said “that’s not very good customer service wow” and then tells me “you sound like my mom!” I’m stunned. I left and went back in, upset, no appetite I ask for a refund. She took customers b4 me, made me wait 10 minutes. Tells me “go down there” and I told her “I’ll wait here, please just my refund. She refuses. I stand there. She finally takes care of it. Three teenage girls. Laughing so I can hear and I spoke up. Worse is I speak to the manager who answers with a racing speech he already knew, sorry, how he runs a great Togos. I ask if he’ll listen to my experience and he interupts. Says I can send my letter. I clarify “so are you going to allow me to share my poor customer service experience?” Said I won’t read my letter but can I talk to you?” And I didn’t wait for him to block me. Immediately after Rueben begins his diatribe how hard he works, how they have good customer service but never what a proper professional good with people managers do. Not an iota of communication conflict resolution skills. Asked him “do you think this was poor customer service with Karen?” Sure he”s already heard his employee’s version and he was biased b4 talking to me. He didn’t even try to say “if that happened it was very wrong and not how workers are trained, I will speak with her….nothing! Lousy role-model, no wonder his employees do what they do! Never again.

I want to thank the staff at the Rancho Cordova Togo for finding my wallet and holding it until I realized it was missing. As you know, there is a lot that needs to be done when missing credit cards, etc. I called the next morning once I realized where it might have gone missing and it was safely locked away. I went in to pick it up and everything was there.. cash, credit cards, drivers license.
I am grateful for the integrity exhibited by the TOGO Team.

I am steaming mad. I went to To Go’s in Ceres, Ca on Hatch road today with my mother who is in her 70’s. I politely asked the girl behind the register if I could use the restroom as it was locked. She told me “it is for customers only”. I work around the corner from there and eat there for lunch 2 or three times a month. Today I did not want to buy anything but needed to use the restroom. I will NEVER spend another thin dime in any of your stores. Furthermore I will tell everyone I work with and anyone who will listen to not spend their money in your stores. Just lost a good customer. I’d rather eat a crappy Mc Donalds burger than spend money in your restaurant. People have no sense. I understand “it’s your policy” however you could have enough sense to not lose money over bending a rule.

I am so extremely upset after my last experience at Togos. I used to work at Togos, and I expect excellence every time I go there. However that is not what I received. With this new “recipe” I cannot help but lose all desire to want to eat at Togos ever again. Recently sandwich makers started to make sandwiches with the produce on the BOTTOM of the sandwich and then with meat on top of the produce. This is the most ridiculous and stupidest thing I’ve ever seen. It was only until a couple months ago that this change was made. I’m sick of it. Since corporate retrained everyone this way, they make my sandwiches wrong each and every time I go – even when I ask them to fix it. Whoever had the idea to switch the order of produce should be fired. It changes the way your sandwiches taste, and trust me, it’s not good. I don’t know that I’ll ever go back again. You’ve lost a loyal and faithful customer of over ten years, and you lost everyone I interact with – I will be telling them to go to Dons Deli instead – where they actually understand the art of sandwich making.

I ate Togos and hung out with the owners when they were in the little house on Campbell Ave accross from the Pruneyard in 1978. The Sandwiches were loaded, fresh and killer. In the last few 10 years they have gone way down. Expensive with less quality and quantity. Everytime I decide to give them 1 more chance. Bread recipe changed. Hardly any meat and no flavor to the meat at all. You can raise price but you got a good product never mess with it. A killer product. People will pay for it. So dissapointed. Plus for many it’s not just a sandwich it’s also nostalgia. Great memories but not anymore

Hi, I went into the Togo’s with my roommate about a week ago. Before getting there we talked about Togo’s over Subway. We were mistaken. We had the worst service experience ever.
When we walked into the store there were three people who gave us eyes like daggers. None of them said a word while we stood in front of the counter for two or three minutes in silence. No hello, no I’ll be right with you, nothing. Just existing inside of this Togo’s was very uncomfortable. The three women working were all out and present in the service area but none of them said anything to us. It was 8:30 and the store closed at 9. All the chairs were up on the tables, with the lights in the front of the store out and the food was not in its proper storage places. I wondered if it was safe to eat the meat.
When someone finally spoke to us she said
‘Are you ready yet?
I said, ‘yes, thanks.’
And she said ‘she’ll be right with you’ pointing to the other woman who was busy taking the trash out. That woman gave her a dirty look. We waited a few more minutes. It was obvious that they did not want us there at all.
My roommate ordered her sandwich turkey and avocado. I ordered a number 9. The woman said ‘we’re not making hot food.’
I said okay. I ordered an Italian sandwich with Italian bread. The woman said ‘we don’t have that’.
So I opted for white bread. I asked her to hold the tomatoes and add cuXXXXber. She said ‘we don’t have that.’
Then she pulled out avocado from the fridge for my roommate’s sandwich. There was a thick layer of brown on top of the avocado. I thought she might scrape it off but instead she mixed it in with what look to be good avocado. And then she took the brown mush and put it on my roommate sandwich. It looked disgusting. My roommate and I looked at each other horrified that she was putting that on the sandwich but also speechless we were already so uncomfortable just being there.
They finished making the sandwiches rang us up and we hurried to leave. We talked about it all weekend long what horrible service we’d had. How shocked we were that any of those people worked in customer service. How we couldn’t believe there were three of them who treated us equally terribly.
Perhaps Togo’s is going downhill, but if I wanted to fix it I would make sure that people who work there are kind to customers, have the supplies that they need to make food that’s available on the menu and that they are not shutting down their store 30 minutes before it closed. I could tell that they have been told to up sale sandwich and drinks because that was the only part of the service that we received that I could tell was part of training. I work in human resources and hire people for customer service jobs. I cannot believe that your team selected these three to represent your company. Either you don’t care or you are doing yourself a great disservice. The stores located in Emeryville on Christie Avenue. Send a secret shopper check it out. Send him around 8:30 seeing how they do. I’m almost positive they will have the same experience as we did. Suffice to say I’m not going to Togo’s anymore. That one time was enough to ruin it forever.

Today, I tried to order a spicy pork wrap at my local Togo’s, but they told me they don’t carry pork anymore because corporate took it off the menu. I am terribly disappointed because that was my favorite menu item.

Just visited a TOGO’s on Hatch in Ceres, CA. and ordered a viva veggie as a sandwich on wheat. I asked for them to please leave off the feta cheese and hummus, and to add 2 scoops of avacado. Never expected it to change the price of the sandwich, I was still going to pay full price for the sandwich as well as the 2 dollars extra for the 2 scoops of avacado. They had no problem with removing the feta, but they acted as if asking to leave the hummus off was demanding the money out of the register. They told me they couldn’t do that and tried directing me into ordering a different sandwich. I was in a hurry on my lunch break and didn’t have time to look over other options, I knew exactly what I was wanting but they refused to make the sandwich the way I prefered. I was forced into having an item on my sandwich that was undesired or choose to walk away hungry. Togos is without a doubt my favorite sandwich shop. I absolutely refuse to go anywhere else for sandwiches, but service like this might seriously force me to reconsider.

I recently purchased 4 sandwiches 3 regular and one large. when I got home and took the sandwiches out of the bag there were 3 different sizes 1 large 2 regular and one much much smaller then the other 2 I took a photo and would like to share it with you as I very much dont think this is the standard at which you hold your restaurants to.

My 17 year old daughter worked at the Togo’s in Manteca CA. It was a HORRIBLE experience for her and our family! Marlo Hodges’s is the manager and her wife is the assistant manager. Marlo’s dad owns the Togos in Manteca. I’ve worked as a hairdresser here in Manteca for over 25 years and I’ve heard nothing but bad things about the way these two ladies treat their employees ! Calling them names, fighting with each other in front of their employees and customers , not paying them on time, not putting up the schedule going day by day, shorting them money on their time cards and the most disturbing is in 2016 they had a Christmas party at their house for the employees and they offered the minors alcohol ! My daughter turned 18 right before Christmas so she had to press charges on that! I’m pleading and begging Togos corporation to investigate these two ladies in their business here in Manteca! Those two ladies are giving TOGOS a bad name! I finally met these two ladies yesterday to go pick up my daughters last paycheck and they were nothing but rude and disrespectful to me! Then I received a text from Marlo at 12:07 AM. All of this is false and untrue! Here it is…
…Kaile’s Mom,
I still have not received any email or text from your daughter stating that she no longer works at Togo’s! Since she has missed 3 consecutive days it is considered job abandonment. You have come into the store at 1115 S. Main St. today twice raising your voice and causing seines with customers in the store, you have also made very false accusations regarding her time here at Togo’s.You have threatened me with the labor board. I have done nothing to deserve this harassment and disrespect, I have always treated Kaile with respect and treated her like she was part of our family here. The lies that you are saying about what was said to her are ridiculous and false, i have other employee statements written and signed, i have video tapes.Your daughter lied to you about that morning and what was said. You are attacking people who are innocent of any wrong doing , because she chose to walk out and quit her job and her responsibilities apparently. So I have ordered her final paycheck from my payroll company, it will be mailed to the address we have on file and will need to be signed for. Also i have made a report with the Manteca Police Department about the threats & harassmentYou may NOT contact me via text email or coming to the store any longer, i will not put up with this childish name calling and sh*t disturbing from you and your family. I will have you prosecuted to the fullest , for false statements regarding my company that i have worked very hard to build and grow.I have tried to be civil with you, i even tried understanding, but you have threatened me and Wendy for the last time! The lies and the accusations are damaging to my wife and I , my business and attacks me morally. I will not stand for it, i have contacted unemployment and the labor board as well tonight in regards to the harassment. Everything has been doXXXXented to the fullest. I have been nothing but PROFESSIONAL with Kaile. Maybe you should teach her to be honest! Her check will be at her house within 72 hours.
PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS. Thank you, Amy Sanchez
