TCF Bank Dispute
On May 14, 2020 my TCF debit card was used to buy 6 $500.00 electronic gift cards to Disney from Target.com. TCF never caught this fraud. We were in Florida and my granddaughter received a phone call from Apple ID stating her Apple ID is occurring fraudulent activity and she needs to change her Apple password immediately. They sent her a link to use. Soon after she received a message from her bank that someone tried to use her debit card fraudulently. The thieves that hacked her phone looked at all her accounts and found my debit card number on her Target.com account. They used my debit card to purchase $3,000.00 to Disney, after the electronic gift cards were sent to her email they went into her email and pulled them. She immediately called Target.com and spoke with them to stop these electronic gift cards. Target told her they don’t refund gift cards after they are purchased, she tried to explain to them she did not purchase them or authorize them to be purchased. That explained again we don’t refund gift cards. My granddaughter called me in Florida to explain what transpired, she was in a panic. I told her will call my bank and have the transaction stopped. Talked with customer services they put a stop on my debit card. They set up a case number and stated the Dispute department would investigate and contact me. Next morning I contacted my TCF bank in Marshall Mi, they advised should get money back but need to wait for the Dispute department to investigate. We got home on June 10, and found a letter from the dispute department stating dispute has been denied. I was livid I did not authorize these transactions and the bank should have recognize this a fraud and stopped it. I called the Dispute department and spoke with a rude idiot. He stated you will never get your money back. I called to speak with the Bank Manager of my bank on a Monday teller took message and said they would have her call me. On Wednesday I went to the bank and was told she was in a meeting. I asked for her Email address and sent her an email with supporting documentation. She called me on Friday at 4:00 pm bank closes at five, she told e Me the dispute case has been closed. I kept myself from blowing up. I told her I was going to put this on face book and have everyone in Marshall share this with their friend. I was with Chemical bank since 1977, and should researched TCF instead of staying with them. My husband and I are retired and on a fixed income. We cannot afford to have $3,000 taken from our bank account. I would run as fast as you can to another bank that supports their customers. We are still fighting to gat our money back. ?we are currently in the process of changing banks.

I sold a piece of property and went to TCF to deposit the check I received for this transaction. The person who worked at TCF and did the paperwork to open a new made a mistake in depositing the check. When I pointed it out, she corrected it. When I looked online at my accounts, I found that I was showing a negative balance. Whoever this person is she should not be working in a bank.

I was recently was hacked thru Apple Itunes, and I disputed transactions that were showing up on my TCF bank account. I notified Itunes first and had them cancel all my subscriptions around the first week of July 2019 so that the hack would stop. I then called TCF to report the issue, and they told me that it would take a few weeks to investigate and resolve the issue. By then, more unwanted transactions were being taken from my bank account, and I report them to both TCF customer service and my bank branch. They changed my bank card twice because I keep reporting the unwanted transaction that were coming from California, and I live in the Midwest, especially during July and August 2019, and the transactions were adding up to $750. I called again today Sept. 18 2019 and went to my bank branch, and they told me that they were the regular Itunes transactions that I made and denied my request. I called Itunes, and they only had transaction that were verified from the subscriptions that I authorized and cancelled. The unwanted transaction dates and amounts that I told them coming from my bank account were not listed thru them. The Itunes rep told me to notify my bank about the inconsistency with Itunes records and my bank account records. Plus, I checked the receipt that I recieved from Itunes by email, and the last reciept I had were from July 4th, around the time I asked them to cancel all my subscriptions. I went to my TCF bank, and had a breakdown of tears because I lost all this money from the hack, and TCF bank didn’t have a manager to listen to my plea, and the employees there told me to call TCF customer service. When I called for a supervisor over the phone, she told me they mailed a letter explaining that issue, and she was not sympathetic to my case. I collected all my transaction from both TCF and Itunes, and will file a police report. Then, I will get a lawyer so that TCF will take my case seriously since they keep passing me over and over to customer service and going back and forth to my bank branch. This is NOT RIGHT. I was robbed of my hard earned money. It may be small from TCF corporate standards, but I would not lie about getting hacked or about the transactions that both Itunes and TCF can’t tell me what they were for. They say to report as soon as possible for an suspicious activity and when I did, TCF could not protect me and would not refund money stolen from me. This is the first time something like a hacked account happened to me, and I heard stories from family and friends resolving their issues with smaller banks and bigger banks like Chase, Citibank, or BMO Harris. I can’t believe TCF has brushed me aside and left me by the curb. I believe in justice and karma, and I hope my story will help others in similar situations and our cries will be heard…

I hit the “Reply” button thinking TCF was doing it. Guess not. So here I am making my own “Reply”. What’s the matter with you TCF. You don’t have anything to say. I have the same problem with your “dispute” team who can’t do a good job. Do you know what a “good job” means, TCF? I’m sick in tired of you bastards.

Dear Leaders at TCF, May 22, 2019
I am calling out of great concern over my experience today with your customer service team.
My call was regarding missing checks but the situation devolved into a serious customer service issue. I ordered checks on April 24th and was advised via email that they were shipped on the 25th. It is now May 22nd and I have still not received my checks. I called the customer service number and with great frustration finally was able to speak with someone in the Philippines. He was pleasant but not able to assist with a problem happening 6,000 miles away.
I was eventually transferred to Mike- employee number 12391. I requested that he contact the 3rd party that you have contracted to provided checks to customers to confirm that there is not an issue on their end and/or to confirm that they were shipped and that the previously advised date of shipment was correct. It is important to note that when I emailed the check provider the email bounced back so there are concerns about this company. He refused to contact the company and then even after several requests to transfer me to a supervisor he refused that as well. We literally got into an argument about how he was not able to assist or transfer me to a manager. He said that everyone I spoke with would tell me the same thing. I advised repeatedly that that would be fine. I just wanted to exhaust all options before closing my account. I do have a check still out and need to write a check this week. I then requested to be transferred to another representative because this conversation was not going well and he also refused. I also requested to leave a voicemail for a manager and he also refused that. He eventually hung up on me.
I am a fairly new customer of TCF and am hoping that this is not the normal mode of operation.
I look forward to a response with a solution and plan for resolving the missing checks and the customer service issue.
Thank you in advance.

This bank is filled with fradulent activities. Tfc seems to think this is a joke. We will see how funny they think this is.
Everyone needs to Google tfc lawsuit and sign up! In my case I believe it’s best to have gotten my own lawyer. To be honest, I want my money and not have to share it with a ton of the people (class action). Tfc gets off easy in cases such as these.
Start being proactive and post about them everywhere. Tell your stories to everyone you know even your local news station.
It’s time we put these robbers out of business! They may be a bank and they may think they can do what they want due to having alot of money but they arent that smart. They have money because of us PERIOD.
I suggest contacting a good lawyer. It may be expensive at first but in the end tfc will have to pay you back. They will in the end pay your lawyer and for you to sue them.
There are more of us then them. This is our money. Money we have paid these idiots to rob us.
It’s time to turn the tables and take our RIGHTS and exercise them to the fullest extent.
Joann says
Tfc takes everyone’s money. From opening f radulent accounts to not posting your deposit telling you it’s there and its just not updated online. Then you go making purchases and they hit you with nsf over and over. Then your deposit magically appears after the nsf appear and your in the hole…over and over and over again. Then they report you to chexsystems so you can’t have a bank account for 5 years due to their pure greed. Kinda funny how tfc has and is being sued for this right now.
Don’t believe me? Look it up. Be smart and join the lawsuit. I’m in the process right now hiring a lawyer for not only fraudulent activity but ruining my life while doing it. Now they can pay me and many others rhey have screwed!
Nothing I hate more then a their and a lier. They are both and will soon see how it feels.

I’m really disappointed on how TCF Bank takes care of their employees. My daughter has been employed with TCF Bank for several years; she’s pregnant and has been asking for a chair to be able to seat when not busy. This request was given when she was in her early term of her pregnancy. Unfortunately, months later she is still requesting a chair, while she works two/three days working a double shift (as supervisor), her feet remain so swollen that they hurt. There are certain policies and courtesy issues that should be given towards your employees. I understand the issues that can occur for providing your staff with chairs while working, but than you have special situations that out of courtesy and concern for your employees should be accommodated. The request was made to the previous manager and current manager, and we have yet to see any change happen.

I have to move my business accounts away from TCF. I am unable to transact business because of TCF’s actions. The bank keeps sitting on my funds and giving me ridiculous explanations for why it is happening. The customer service by Jennifer and Marcus at the TCF Midway is very, very poor. Every time I am in there, they are denying someone access to funds. Marcus appeared to enjoin making it difficult for me. The staff at Lexington and University Avenue TCF are equally poor at addressing issues. Thank the lord there are other banks out there who want my business.

To Whom It May Concern:
I had an issue with a job scam whereupon they sent me a check #3731 from the First Community Bank, NA, from Crossmark Development & Construction LLC for $3,250.32. I deposited that check, per the “employer’s” request into my checking account, 2770983043, on January 21, 2017, a Saturday, at the branch at 481 Busse Highway, Park Ridge, IL, 60068. On Monday, January 23, 2017, I inquired at the branch if that check had cleared and was told by Ms. Elizabeta Mujic, branch supervisor, that it had cleared. Since I know that banks don’t run their banking items through their computer systems until the evening of a business day, I again asked Ms. Mujic if the check had really cleared, and she again assured me that it had. I then withdrew $3,000.00 from my account, and per the “employer,” deposited the cash into the Bank of America under the account name Awe Adeola, account number 381047845138, to purchase a computer and scanner/fax/printer. Then, I find out that the check had, in fact, not cleared but was only showing available funds. My problem was further compounded by another check that the “employer” sent to me for $5,000.00, which again showed available funds. I did not withdraw any funds on that check. After that, the check for $3,250.32 came back as NSF funds/altered check, as did the $5,000.00 check from DMKS Properties, LLC, check number 004343, from the Federal Reserve Bank Atlanta. Because the $3,250.32 check did not clear, many of my bills being paid for the end of January bounced, and multiple fees where deducted from my account for paying from an account that now had a negative balance along with fees for deposits denied.
I feel that the branch supervisor, Ms. Elizabeta Mujic, did not do her job correctly to protect my money and, in fact, lied to me about the $3,250.32 check clearing. She told me that, because I was a longstanding customer, that allowed the $3,000 to be drawn from my account because the check had been posted and was showing as available funds. Since when is it legal to issue funds on checks that haven’t cleared just because I have been a customer for a couple of years? I am appalled that TCF Bank would allow such a practice to be utilized. I have already alerted the FBI on the scam perpetrated on me by the “employer”, and I’m about to alert the State of Illinois regarding this practice of allowing funds to be withdraw on checks that have not cleared. Do you understand the financial disaster I am now in because of allowing these funds to be withdrawn? I am asking TCF Bank to reverse these fees for bounced checks and NSF deposits and to also reimburse me the $3,000.00 that should not have been allowed to be removed from my account.
Please respond to me soonest regarding this matter.
Thank you for your time in looking into this.

Regina M Reimann

So I find out that the account was closed due to inactivity?. Why was this not in your policy? Spoken with different representatives also the branch. Ok, done what was asked to open a new account. Ok, they are not able to open S new account and do not know why!?! They called IT tried several times and was told the system has to do an update! Well the account was closed in September 2016, so how far behind is your system updates?

It is 11/16/2016 and I happen to notice on my online banking that all of my transactions are rearranged from yesterday and a overdraft fee was applied in the mist of TCF bank “processing process” . Even if I did overdraft the account the bank tellers are telling the customers that if there is a overdraft you won’t receive a fee for 24 hours. Which I have on video I had my husband open another account there to see if they are still telling the customers that and they are. TCF has reordered my transactions so they can charge fees. Then when you call to reverse it they don’t want to.Unfortunately Tcf didn’t get tangled into the big Bank of America large class action lawsuit for doing this. But I have addressed this before and if every fee that was placed on my account in its history isn’t refunded.I am more than willing to exploit the processing and how they are applying these fees.Especially the using another ATM fee when they’re ATMs are down the LATHRUP Village ATM was down for three weeks and the Farmington Hills ATM in Target is out of service!

This is EXACTLY what happened to us the other day. We have pending transactions that they put through first according to their computer (we cant see that on our end) and they charged us $187 in od fees. We were told also the fees come 24 hours after the over draft, we were also told that the merchants take their money out in certain orders so no matter if you keep a paper register it will always be wrong. This bank needs to be help accountable for their actions. They can not say something is pending on our end of the computer and say its gone through on theirs

It is Friday 6/10/2016…..if I have had no feedback from you on this matter by the end of business Monday 6/13/2016…..I will assume that the manipulation of my account was and is an activity encouraged by the Corporate Office in MN, and proceed with filing criminal charges against the Bank Manager and arranging her Perp walk from the bank during banking hours……..that should be a great video to go viral quickly……and could be great for business.
I guess we will find out Monday at 5pm, Arizona time.

I wish to make a complaint concerning one of your branch location 7155 Point Douglas Drive Cottage Grove, Minnesota. My business partner and I came to the location to cash a $500 dollar check, because I have an account I ask the teller if the check be signed over to me to be cashed and the teller said yes so we filled out the information and the teller said that we needed both of our drivers license. Because it was a business check the teller explained that the original person named on the check must cash it. Another teller explained to the teller we were working with that the check must be verified, the teller verified that the checking account had enough fun to be paid out but the other teller said that they needed to call the person who wrote the check to verify that the check was not stolen and stated to us that they had to make sure that we had not stolen the check this is very disrespectful and inappropriate especially talking loud to where other customers can hear this is not good customer service in treating customers the way that we were treated. This feel like that it was racially motivated towards us. No thank you or apology for the inconvenience or nothing. Please reply as soon as possible. Thanking you in advance for your time and patience.
