TECO Energy traces its roots to 1899.
The company generates, purchases, transmits and distributes electric energy to individuals, utilities, and resellers of electricity in West Central Florida. TECO has 700,000 electricity customers and a generating capacity of 4,668 MW of generating capacity.
TECO Energy’s subsidiary, Peoples Gas System, distributes natural gas in Florida to 357,000 customers. New Mexico Gas Co. distributes natural gas to a further 513,000 customers in New Mexico.
The company also has a coal mining segment, TECO Coal, which has a further ten subsidiaries in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia.
TECO Energy trades publicly on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol TE, is a member of the S&P 500, is #759 in the Fortune 500, has 3,900 employees and had $2.93 billion in revenue in 2013.
