Oklahoma Gas & Electric (OG&E) was incorporated in 1902 by Edward H. Cooke, five years before Oklahoma became a state.
The company spread across Oklahoma and began to use different ways to generate electricity. In 1949 the company began to generate electricity using steam turbines and gas turbines combined, in 1974 used coal to generate electricity, and in 2003 began to use wind power.
Today OG&E has over 800,000 individual and wholesale customers in Oklahoma and Arkansas and a generating capacity of 6,785 MW in its coal and gas-fired power plants.
