When Shauna Sloan was a young mother, she was on a tight budget, so most of her children’s clothing items and toys came from thrift stores or yard sales. She wished that there was a single location where she could not only shop for items just for her children but where she could sell her gently used children’s items as well.
Sloan created the Kid to Kid franchise in 1992. The company buys and sells children’s items, everything from diapers to toys, cribs to bicycles.
Kid to Kid prides itself on being environmentally friendly, with a very low carbon footprint. By buying a used pair of jeans, a person saves the 10,000 gallons of water it takes to grow the cotton to make denim fabrics.
The Sloans opened their first store in Sandy, Utah. They opened a second store within the year, with the first franchise location opening in 1994.
The company currently has 100 franchised locations.
Kid to Kid maintains a corporate office in North Salt Lake City, Utah.
