Universal Orlando Islands of Adventure, usually called Islands of Adventure, was founded in Orlando, Florida, in 1990. The site had originally been purchased as for a shopping center, but plans fell through. Universal Orlando Resort owns and operates this business, which includes hotels, a theme park, water park, rides, dining facilities, and shopping.
The park opened in May of 1999, along with Universal Studios City Walk in Los Angeles. Islands of Adventure’s theme is one of exploration, where guests leave from a main port to differently themed islands, such as The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and Toon Lagoon. There are currently 7 islands, with an 8th island to open sometime in the summer of 2016.
Islands of Adventure is the 7th most popular park in the U.S. ,with more than 8 million visitors in 2014. This theme park is also listed as the 11th most popular theme park in the world.
