Hersheypark, originally spelled Hershey Park until about 1970, was founded in May of 1906 by Milton Hershey as a place for Hershey factory workers to enjoy the outdoors. Its first summer in operation, the park had Memorial Day celebrations, bands, baseball games, and other events.  The very first ride was introduced in 1908; a Merry Go Round. In 1910, the park added a miniature railroad, and in 1923, the park added its first roller coaster, The WildCat.

Hersheypark ferris wheel Today, the park has more than 75 rides, 13 roller coasters, and 16 water rides. Hersheypark receives approximately 3.2 million visitors each year. The park is open Easter weekend through September, Halloween, and Christmas day.
