Glowforge is a 3-D laser printer invented by Dan Shapiro in 2014.
The company found success quickly, selling more than $30 million in sales during its initial crowdfunding source. Sales have continued to surge most likely because Glowforge, unlike most other 3-D printers, which make objects out of melted plastic, Glowforge printers use laser beams to cut or etch raw materials such as leather, wood, acrylic, glass, fabric, or cardboard. Some users have shown where they had logos imprinted into marshmallows without destroying the candy.
In September 2021, Glowforge and Michael’s craft stores made an agreement to sell Glowforge printers.
Glowforge maintains a corporate office in Seattle, Washington.
