The company grew rapidly, expanding to other states such as Mississippi in 1923 and Louisiana in 1925, as well as expanding within the states.
Today Entergy, through its subsidiaries, distributes electricity to 2.8 million customers and provides natural gas to almost 200,000 customers in Louisiana.
Entergy is also one of the largest nuclear power generators in the United States.
CEO Charles Rice stepped down from his position in August 2018 after numerous complaints about the company and fraud charges were made regarding the construction of a new power plant.
Entergy is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol ETR, is a member of the S&P 500, is #219 on the Fortune 500, has 13,808 employees, and had $10.845 billion in revenue in 2016.
