The company was founded in 2004 by Charlie Chanaratsopon in Houston. The Thai-American was an entrepreneur from a young age and in fact began his first business in first grade when he rented out his Nintendo games to classmates for $1.
Chanaratsopon had opened seven stores by 2007, when he raised money from a private equity firm to double the number of stores to 14.
Today Charming Charlie has more than 240 stores which are located in malls and shopping centers in 36 states.
