Mr. James Amen I have a great young man living with us named Andrew Cardoza I have known Andrew for over 10 years he is a good friend of my son Joseph and he’s like a second son to my wife and I. Andrew is a college student at Cal State Los Angeles that came to live with us a few months ago. I asked Tim at your Glassell Park store to consider giving Andrew a job. Andrew had worked in the past with his father in the construction trade and has good working skills for a young man having worked part-time. I believed he would have been an asset to your work force. Andrew was called in by Tim for an interview and was hired. During the orientation, Tim was explaining your company policies. One of those polices was that if an employee felt sick he was to call in at least 2 hours before his work schedule time. Well Andrew called in sick one day with a runny nose, talked to Tim still offering to come to work but explain the stores customers may not like him sneezing on their groceries. Looking for direction from Tim, Andrew was told by Tim it was his choice if he felt sick to stay at home. As a customer of Super A Foods I believe Andrew used proper judgement not going to work that day, Tim then hung up the phone without saying good bye, hope you feel better or showing any signs of curtesy. Andrew had called in —— hours before his shift. I felt this to be very rude and disrespectful of Tim for man of his age and level of management he should know the importance of showing respect to his employees developing team skills.
Andrew was called into work 3 different times on days he wasn’t scheduled or called into work early in which he was more than happy to go as a team player.
Andrew called in sick one more time hours before his shift. He once again had allergies and wasn’t feeling well. Tim was not at work that day Andrew once again offered to the manager that if they really needed him he would come in. The manager told him it was ok don’t worry about it. The next time Andrew went to work Tim fired Andrew telling Andrew he didn’t feel Andrew was cut out for the stores work, Andrew disagreed with him explaining he had offered to come in both times and the decision was left to Andrew to make. Tim seems to need better management skills. If you’re going to have company polices that you explain to your employees and then fire someone for abiding by those polices it seems to me you’re going to break down good faith within your employees and the community. I have lived in this area and have shop at your store for many years complaining at times about the young men walking out the store stealing beer or other items inviting more problem within this neighborhood. Your store has not always been fast in addressing some of your own store issues. I hope you address this one faster than some of the problems you seem to still face. The manager you replace with Tim seemed to do a better job or at least try to do. He was always very friendly to deal with and took on the community crime concerns. I was in New York for a while so I’m sorry I didn’t get to this letter sooner. My wife was in your store last night 11-5-2017 around 8PM my wife wanted to get food from your new hot food service but when she walked to the back of the store even though the hot food service seemed to be open the person working there was up above the stove spraying some sort of cleaner on the inside of the vent with nothing covering the food below. She walked out without buying anything from that department feeling it was unhealthy to eat. You may need to develop new polices for your food service workers or have some sort of management oversight. It would kind of you to consider rehiring Andrew, It seems he may be a better asset to your company then others working for you now.

Thank You for your time I hope to hear from you soon.
