I worked for Spencer Gifts from April of 2016 to November 2017. I was the Store Manager, never was written up or anything. I had two occasions where gossip and rumors were circulated, one went away, the last did not. I was accused of stealing and sleeping with co workers. When I called Human Resources and Loss prevention, they opened an investigation. After waiting over a month to get it resolved, I decided to move on. I have the guy that I was accused of sleeping with and his lawyer that both agree we should start a lawsuit. I gave my two week’s notice and told by the DM that if I wanted to, that I could come back. I have tried to re apply for position, but for some reason I am not rehirable. Can you please get me in touch with someone, because they give me the runaround through HR?

My daughter works at one of your stores. Her check was not correct. She was told they weren’t making their quotas so that is why their checks were short. She was told this was an hourly position. Why doesn’t she get paid for her hours? Please explain why Spencer’s is cheating young workers out of their earnings?
You also need to remodel your store, there are somethings that shouldnt be were little kids can see them . Right up front were you can see them without even comming into your store
I’d like to point out that the reason they came up to your son recording in the store is because of the nature of the store and the possibility of him recording other customers while they are there. It prevents fights between customers and keeps their privacy.
I dont apperiate the treat me and my son got from your employee at the mercer mall west virginia. He is disable and loves his camera. They in a threatening manner went up to my son and didnt even ask question threaten to call sercurity. He wasnt do anything but recording his nephew . Whom was checking out your mechandise . I was in your spencer gift store in thunder bay ontario recently around 10am in the morning just after the store had opened, the manager (im assuming she was) was talking to 3 staff members about quotas, sales figures, performances, etc, while there were approx 3 customers in the store inlcuding myself. Ive been in retail all my life as well as being an assistant manager on different occasions and what annoyed me the most was the fact that this was done during working hours with customers in the store. This information was not something that customers needed to hear and there is a time and a place for discussing things like that like before the store opens or after hours, not to mention the fact that and even including the manager no one greeted me or the other customers in the store or was even asked if they could be helped. In retail 101 I dont care what your doing or how important you think it is ALL customers should be greeted and given help as they are your bread and butter. If I had been an area supervisor or her boss I would have taken her aside afterwards and lectured her on what customer service is about cause its quite obvious that she knows nothing about it. I doubt I will ever visit this store again and word of mouth can be a very strong weapon

The DM and all the managers at the Chicago Ridge Mall location are rude and unhelpful.. My Daughter works there and she tells me all these stories about people they hire and dont do work they put it all on her. She never gets to request a day off while the other employees who dont do s**t request days even weeks off call in all the time and when they do who do they call my daughter all the time.. She’s been asking her managers,pay roll, HR to help her print put her check stubs for 6months for insurance purposes and no one has help her.. Her teeth are cracking and falling apart and nobody in this job cares to help… She has a friend she helped get in the job and now she’s back syabned her and rols all the managers and DM her personal problems that she needed a day off to take care of..their Managers amd Dm’s are a freaking joke here..
I have a problem with the new district manager. This new manager only hired her friends at 3+ maybe more locations. I knew people working at these stores for years who did a good job and not a single one was rehired or even called for a interview. This is not right. The people who should be working at these location are the ones who put in the time and work. Visited your store in Southlake Mall yesterday. I don’t shop here because the store is dark but my daughter’s swear by it. Inside buying my daughter nose rings and asked the cashier who by the way was having her own personal conversation how do we get the rings. She then proceeded with her conversation with the employee and turned to us with a look of disgust and said, “What do you need?” as nasty as she could say it. I then asked my daughter, “Do you really want to get this from here?” I then told her that I do not like to spend my money where people don’t want it. The young lady who helped us was really professional and all around nice. Some employees really need to check their attitudes at the door and work like professionals or stay at home!

I would like you to carry the shirts that I’m selling. They came from a lot of pain. My website is justfit.org. But I’m not sure how to go about getting them in there? Everywhere I go people compliment them. How often do you actually wear a shirt that everybody says something about? Could you point me in the right direction to help me get them in Spencers? The store in Rapid City South Dakota has a very unprofessional employee working there. My 15-year-old daughter was in there looking for a shirt. The woman employee yells at her, are you just looking are you going to buy one of those because you have to fold those shirts back up. No she doesn’t have to fold them back up if she doesn’t want to that’s the employees job. but I have raise my kids right and she was folding them back as she was going through them. I told her if that ever happens again till I say no that’s your damn job throw the s**t on the floor and walk out. She and she did buy a shirt. She didn’t pay any attention until she got home looked in the bag the theft decice is still on it and they didn’t give her a receipt. so I called The store and they were able to look up the transaction with the UPC. But now we have to drive back to get the damn theft devise taken off.

How the hell does a 16 yr old child walk into Spencer’s and walk out with a strap-on that’s right you heard me!!!A friggin Strap-on and to top it all off the cashier encouraged it by telling her that she has one at home and uses it on her boyfriend!! I am so irritated with this company’s products!! My best friend bought me these water show speakers for my birthday. The first one she got me when we opened them they had leaked all the water out of the speakers. So she returned them. She got me a new one. Upon using that one it started leaking also. We returned it and got a new one. I was useig them today to find they are leaking again! Oh and it’s not water is some foul smelling oily substance. (Which is gross) I get this stores products are cheaply made this even says made in china … great. I would like a full refund for this product and you should remove it from your shelfs since they all seem to be broken. Also, I LOVE how difficult it is to get into contact with your corporate office about this. I’m pissed. ????

I enjoyed frequenting your store when I was a teen and my pre-teen daughter, I was recently thinking, might soon enjoy exploring Spencer Gifts. She currently likes to go to Hot Topic. However, after seeing a photo of your political t-shirt display, I was absolutely appalled that you find it appropriate to sell a t-shirt emblazoned with the words “Grab America by the pussy”. I have just asked my 11-year-old daughter what she thinks about this t-shirt. Her words: “By wearing this t-shirt, a person is saying ‘I totally disrepect women and I’m proud of that!'” She went on to say, “Why would a store want to sell a t-shirt like that?”

It has been brought to my attention that your store carries a pro-Trump T-shirt that says “Grab America by the Pussy.” This is extremely offensive and irresponsible. By carrying this item, Spencer’s is contributing to the ‘Rape Culture’ of America. Please be more sensitive to the safety of women in the products you promote. There have already been very well-publicized incidents of men sexually assaulting women while specifically expressing a belief that this is now okay, because this is Trump’s America.

What kind of organization allows their employees to conduct private business during store hours? Seems to me this is a conflict of interest and violation of company policy.

Hi, I am the cousin of the manager attacked with an ax Thursday night. I am one writing to say, she and her 23 yr old employee are heroes. The company should acknowledge them as such. She, I know has been an asset to your company for many years. She gives her all, always, and Thursday night, she showed again her commitment, dedication, and loyalty to your company. My cousin almost paid with her life, the 23 year old, saved everyone else’s life by wrestling that maniac. For that, I and her family are forever grateful.
