Spanx was founded in 2000 by a former fax machine salesperson, Sara Blakely. While working in the Florida heat, Blakely was unable to find comfortable pantyhose. She realized that most companies used the same size waistband and a toe with a seam. Blakely began to design her own undergarments, including pantyhose with different waistbands, shapewear, and other undergarments.
What began as a business based out of her apartment has turned into one of the most successful undergarment companies in America. Blakely’s $5,000 investment earned $8 million in her first year. Blakely retains 100% ownership of the company. Spanx products are found in all high-end clothing retailers, including Neiman Marcus, Saks, Bloomingdales, and Bergdorf Goodman, as well as many other upscale clothing retailers, such as Macy’s.
In October 2018, Blakley hinted that she was considering taking the company public.
Forbes profiled Blakely’s company in June of 2014, where the company stated it generated more than $250 million in revenue each year, with a net profit of 20%. The company has headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, and recently replaced longtime CEO Laurie Ann Goldman, with former Nike executive, Jan Singer.

I just got off the phone with a manager at the customer service main line. I had placed an order on 10/20 in the afternoon and had not yet received any shipping confirmation. A promotion was sent to me today less that 48 hours since I placed my order. I was told I had to reorder. The manager was rude would not let me speak and agreed that I should return my items and purchase from another company. All I requested was that the promotion be honored without reordering which would be 2 charges to me and the inconvenience of having to do a return. Your company obviously is not in the business of providing great customer service. Businesses need to build loyalty and repeat business by providing excellent customer service and you obviously have failed. With so much completion you should strive for greatness and not be another company that lost its way to those that have. I’m a very unhappy customer.

Trying to build a sponsorship relationship with spanx to establish market base for African through our health and hygiene program in Nigeria but seem abortive. Does spanx care only for American butt?

the plastic front clasp on my bra broke, this is an item w/ a cost of pennies, i called Customer Service to ask for replacement clasp on the $70 bra purchased 16 or so months ago and there was no resolution offered except welcoming me to spend another $70 on a bra. Mine is still like new because i have several of them and i don’t put in dryer and I take very good care of them. I am most disappointed in the response, am quite dissatisfied and will have a hard time ever spending $70 on another Spanx bra when i cannot trust that the clasp will hold out for as long as the bra.

I have been trying to get a refund since December. Every time I call the phone number I am given a phone operator who says it will be processed within 10-14 days (per her supervisor). Apparently, the refund is being processed at corporate. I have asked, and have not been given, the corporate email or phone number of the liaison between the phone center and corporate. I’m beginning to think no one works at Spanx. ??

still waiting on mine, hope you’re making progress. Still contacting everyday with no help

Been waiting 4 months on a refund for a product purchased 4 months ago and returned within 3 days. Every time I call, I am told 10 to 14 days and no one can do anything about it. Is anyone actually working there?

In October 2018 I attended my 59 year high school reunion. Since we grew up in the 40’s and 50’s there weren’t any harmful products added to animal meat and foods, therefore almost all of the girls had small breasts (including me). When I saw many of my former female classmates, many of them have the same problem that I have, which is bras that do not fix correctly. We have fat around our midriffs. Most of us need padded bras. Why can’t your company make a padded bra that also slims our midriff and has straps that do not keep slipping off our shoulders? Looking around every day in stores and supermarkets, there are many women just like me. Our bra line is visible and our fat shows. There is a huge market for such a bra for women in their 70’s. Is there any possibility of having this type of bra in the near future?

Hello. purchased two bras and one of the underwires cracked in half stabbing me…ouch…
Can someone replace this product for me?
Customer service was quite nasty and said you do not warrant your product passed 90 days…wow…should not a bra last for at least one Year???

Over two weeks ago I spent almost 45 minutes trying to place an order by phone. A guy named Peter could not answer any of my questions about the products I was interested in. Most reputable companies have samples of the products that the operator can examine to answer inquiries. Finally, I decided to order anyway, but he said the computer kept “messing up”. After getting my credit card information and confirming my order, I asked to speak to a supervisor. Peter got Roxie on the phone and she did answer questions, but I had to wait even longer to speak with her. Roxie said there was a warehouse down the street from the telemarketing office and regretted no samples were available to answer customer questions. I asked at that time to have someone higher up like corporate call me. I was told I would receive a call within 48 hours. Never heard from anyone and never received my order. I called yesterday, March 17, and Peter had never placed my order! Roxie had notes about my call but no order! Again, I asked for someone higher up to call me. A woman called but offered no help whatsoever, but I did learn they were in Wisconsin and intended to counsel Peter in Florida over the phone to improve his customer service! I stated that someone needs to be available to train employees face to face. What a fiasco!!! Again I asked to have corporate follow up with me. I was informed that would not be possible. I have used Spanx products for years and wanted to order something that is not available in Jackson, MS. I am so disgusted with this company and I did remember I called last year to inquire about an item and got no answers, but a “knowledgeable” person was supposed to call me back. It didn’t happen. If anyone at this company cares at all, please email me.

Your website is a joke, your customer service employees even worse. After ordering a pair of tights, and reviewing my order, your website dumped all of my saved items into my order and it tripled at check out. After calling TWO MINUTES later, your supervisor Marie, informed me you do not have the capabilities to edit or cancel orders. WOW!!! how about coming updating your ridiculous procedures. Last time I ever buy a product from SPANX. Here’s a tip, when you screw up that badly, offer your customer some type of apology instead of arguing there is nothing you can do.

I placed a order on July 28th using a great coupon code. Well on 8/3 at 10;45 pm i got a email saying that spanx has cancelled my order due to that item being out of stock. I go to the site and guess whats there is in the size color etc that i wanted saying it’s instock.. I call to order the rep told me its in stock Ii say great i want it for the same price as what I was to get it for on the order I placed on July that they cancelled… She then told me I would have to talk to the super..
Super said nope I can have item for the 20 dollars more … SHAME ON SPANX It’s called BAIT AND SWITCH and when I get time it will be reported to the state. I will no longer give you any of my business and I will make darn sure everyone I know will hear about the shady business spanx does…

I have purchased several Spanx products over the past few years and have been satisfied with the quality and durability. However, last week I bought a pair of ASSESTS at Target and was highly disappointed. I carefully checked the height and weight chart before ordering my size. I am sad to report that after using them one time, they began to unravel in the crotch area. After two uses, a hole appeared, and has continued to get bigger. Not sure if this was a faulty item, but I am highly disappointed to have paid $25 for an item I only got to use twice.

I love the brand. I am applying to work in one of the stores. I’d like to learn more about the designing of the product. I studied art and fashion and think about product designs.
