Shop ‘N Save Market was founded in Belleville, Illinois, in 1979. Formerly a part of the SuperValu chain, Shop ‘N Save is now independently owned, with more than 44 locations throughout Missouri and Illinois. The company has headquarters in Kirkwood, Missouri.
While SuperValu supplied many family-owned stores, it has had difficulty in recent years, keeping up with the competition from Walmart and Giant Eagle. Its decision to sell off some of the Shop ‘N Save markets was not an easy one, says a company spokesperson.
Shop ‘N Save Market continues to maintain their presence in the Missouri/Illinois area, with only one store closing in the past 3 years. The company has approximately 3,800 full-time employees. Most locations offer full-service pharmacies and bakeries.

I purchased a Amazon gift card and when I pealed the strip for the numbers, there were none.
Tried to return it to the West Mifflin PA and the manager told me he only sells the cards and to contact Amazon. Amazon said take your receipt and gift card back to the store. I talked to Amazon and after 1/2 hour on the phone and me sending them a photo copy e-mail, I think I may get my money back. I do not have that verified yet. You store policy is not correct, It is fraud to take my money and sell me an invalid card. I sincerely hope that Amazon corrects this and gives me my $200.00 or I will take this to the magistrate

This letter will be sent to the store in question and the corporate office in the coming days…
Attention Mark Gross,
I had purchased a bottle of vitamin D3 on a Saturday at the above store and after bringing it home discovered that the seal was broken. I went back the following Monday to return it and the girl there said they “Do not sell this product”. I told her “Yes you do, I got it from an end cap” and pointed to it. She went half way to the end cap making it look like she was checking on it (unaware I was watching the whole time) then came back saying the same thing, “We do not sell this product”. I demanded to see the manager, someone named “Jason” got behind the desk, didn’t even look at the product or the sale slip and repeated the same line “We do not sell this product”. After the conversation became rather heated he said loudly “I want you out of here”. I began walking out as I asked if this store is affiliated with the Better Business Bureau. He sternly repeated “I want you out of here” not giving back the vitamin bottle or the receipt. At that point I was in fear that he might attempt to physically remove me. The “fear’ was not for my own safety! Unknown to these clowns in this store, I’m a licensed security guard in the state of Florida with training in self-defensive tactics. Had he attempted any type of physical confrontation I would of interpreted it as an attack and I’ll leave it up to your imagination as to “Jasons” final disposition!
On that day, Saturday, March 7th, 2020, my mother and I went to two stores. The Dollar Store located on the hill above Shop and Save and Shop and Save itself. So it might of been possible that the vitamin in question was purchased at the Dollar store, not Shop and Save. Enclosed is the sales receipt at the Dollar store. On it at the bottom is “RX Collagn 1000Mg”, which is vitamin C. The vitamin D3 is NOT listed anywhere!!! So the only conclusion is that it was purchased at Shop and Save. As stated earlier the receipt and the vitamin D3 was not returned to me so naturally I cannot verify it with that receipt. Even if the product was not listed on the Shop and Save receipt I would assume it was not rung up by mistake since I’ve witnessed obvious employee incompetence at this store .
I phoned my mother as to what happened in the parking lot of the store and told her I would pick up groceries I planned to buy at Shop and Save from Walmart. After arriving home she had called and spoken to the “manager” who’s name was NOT Jason!!! So after asking for a manager I was offered an incompetent employee incapable of solving this problem.
After describing the girl at the customer service desk my mother informed me that this was the same person who was very rude to her. My mother is elderly, 88 years old and had went to the customer service desk which is “8 items or less” with about fifteen items. This girl, the same one I spoke with, said “Don’t come back here with more than 8 items anymore”! The proper way would of been to explain to the customer as to why there is an 8 item limit. To speak to an elderly person in such a manner is inexcusable! You people are very lucky I was not there to hear this! It would of made the above incident look like a kindergarten picnic and the police would of definitely been called!!!
It is blatantly apparent that your employees are not trained in proper customer service etiquette. The price of the vitamin D3 is of secondary importance. The treatment my mother and I have received while patronizing this store is obvious. Not only have you lost a customer permanently, of which my mother has been for about thirty years, you have also have made an enemy! The comments on the corporate office website, corporateofficehq.com/shop-n-save-market-corporate-office/ is further proof of your inability to comprehend that customer satisfaction is top priority! The public needs to be informed that Shop and Save is of low quality and needs to be avoided since any problems that might occur will not be addressed! Social media platforms like Youtube are the best way to do this. However, most people are not capable of making videos of their experiences and posting them to platforms such as these. Unfortunately for you, I’m a computer guru and am well versed in using video editors and will be posting a video of this incident in the coming months! Then let the public decide…

We have two Shop and Save stores within blocks of each other. One was a Shnuck’s store. We continue to go to the former Shnucks. Here lies the problem. This store continues to sell products under the Shnucks brand. I cannot get to the store and have my niece do my shopping. We just opened a 1 lb bag of Shnuck’s brand pretzel sticks. They smell terrible and when we checked the sell by date it is 9/13/19. The pretzels smell rancid. We were always happy with the store but you are slipping. The shelves are often empty and you have to check the sell by dates. WHAT ARE YOU DOING?????? Now I understand why people are going to Dierbersgs.

I visited the Shop N Save in Fairchance, PA to but JIF Peanut Butter that was on sale.
I found the item in supply, an in the isle display of JIF. I also noticed that the coupons on the top of the jars of JIF was missing the coupons. I checked many levels of the display and did not find any coupons.
This store located at 58 West Church St, Fairchance PA 15436 724-564-7810
has disappointed me before by having many dairy items with a past due expiration date. Many products are near expiration that are on sale and I was informed the expiration date was the reason it was on sale while other Shop N Save stores offer the same items with good expiration dates.
What is up with this store and why do se Shop N Save Corp continue to support this store?

Living on the border of Md and Pa and WVa I was sorry to see my perks are not honored in all states as I often drive to the closest stores and gas stations . Since your stores are privately owned now, I’m sure computers can solve that problem should you care to suggest a much appreciated & valued improvement to the Shop and Save stores, or at least pass this on to someone who can facilitate the problem for their customers.

I am disappointed and humiliated by the way I’ve been treated in your store tonight. As a black man who has long wanted racism and discrimination erased, it is unfortunate that I was being accused of wanting to steal from your store because I carried a motorcycle bag inside with me. When I asked your manager the rationale for wanting to take my bag, he said “store policy” and “people stuffing their bags…” I have looked online–what store policy was he referring to? How long has this policy been in effect? Where were the signs showing that ALL customers must submit their bags to security? What’s the policy on responsibility of items in bags after they’re given to security? They kept saying “we won’t go through your bags…” If you think I’d steal, what’s to stop me from claiming money was taken from the bag after it’s returned to me? Mind you, many people carry bags to reduce environmental waste from plastic bags (I being one of them), so that coupled with being on a motorcycle should have let your security, cashier, and store manager know that I was not there to steal… But I guess by your store’s rationale, black men riding motorcycles late at night aren’t concerned about reducing waste or actual shopping, but are on the prowl looking to fill their bags with steaks, beer, and potato chips– or did you think I’d prefer watermelon and fried chicken…so tell me, what did you think I was going to steal tonight?

I came home from work Friday March 30 and found a Shop n Save grocery cart on my front yard. I called the Maplewood store and talked the manager, asking him to send someone to come and get it. He would not. It is now Saturday March 31, the cart is still there. I guess your company doesn’t care about loosing money on stolen carts.

I am a regular customer. Most checkers know me. I shop at the St.Ann,mo store and the St.John,mo store. I went to St.Ann,mo. store to exchange a product I purchased. I couldn’t exchange the item because it was to late.Told me to come back in the morning and go to the service desk. I didn’t want any money just an exchange. From there I went to the St.John’s Store. I couldn’t exchange the product because I didn’t have my receipt. Really, Two different answers. First of all, it took gas to get to the stores. Second, two different answers. Third, I bought it from your store and it was a name brand product and you would have gotten credit from the company that makes the product. I don’t think I should have to keep something that made me sick when I ate it. I guess if I bought the Essential brand St.John’s store would have let me exchange it since you only sell that brand. You take my money easy but I can’t get an exchange when I’m not satisfied. It cost me gas and I still had to keep the product. To me that’s poor service. I will drive to other competitor stores. I won’t be giving you my business anymore.

Tonight you lost a customer. I have watched a steady decline in the quality of the St. John stores food and management. My visit this evening causes me to be willing to drive the extra few miles to a competitor. Slimy lettuce, swams of insects over the vegetables, low life’s grazing the wing bar and throwing bones about the aisles, surley clerks, the everyday essentials brand of poor people’s food crowding out other brands only to jack up their prices when there are no options left, plus the parking lot truck rodeo and shear number of pan handlers has finally got to me.

I don’t know how such a dump as the Shop n Save store in New Kensington, PA, is permitted to even operate! Not only is the store unclean, but the produce is pitiful! In the deli, at night, I have witnessed (more than one time) employees sitting on the work table that is used for foods in that department! It seems as if this most recent privately owned store doesn’t really care about much of anything other than taking money from the local patrons who can’t or don’t have a choice to shop elsewhere. Someone gotta look into this store; it gets worse and worse as the years go by. I do believe the health department needs advised of this awful situation. The owners also own the Russellton, PA, store, which is not even comparable to this New Kensington, PA, store. Please be advised that ANYONE who has ANYTHING to do with this corporation needs advised.
