My friends and I here in Valdosta Georgia would love to see a Shoney’s back. We miss it dearly ???? best buffet ever. Please come back to Valdosta Georgia. We have a university and military base; so plenty of customers for Shoney’s. Thank you! Hope to see you soon!!

Was seafood/steak night and they ran out of steak. The manager said she was going to come and make up for it since we had already paid. NOTHING happened!!!! We paid $36.94 for two buffets to wait over a hour for 2 tiny steaks and then to tell us they had a shortage of steak. The waitress was horrible she was better at flirting with men then serving all customers and another waitress was on it to help service us the best she could and also do her tables too!! How sad is it to say but we will NOT be back at this Shoney’s!!!!

I want to know why the Shoney’s in Fayetteville, NC closed down? To add “insult to injury”, they moved to Lumberton, NC; a little “one horse” town about a quarter the size of Fayetteville. From a profit-making viewpoint, which I assume Shoney’s is in business for, this disastrous decision to move made absolutely no sense whatsoever. I don’t know who is responsible for the decision making process at Shoney’s but whoever it is, they need their head examined for making such an abysmally STUPID so-called “decision” as this!!

Today we visited #1311 in Goodlettsville Tn. I was craving ground beef soup of which you had none today. So then I thought I would like some onion rings. Yum right? Nope, we’re out of those. Okay then. How about a piece of Strawberry pie. I’m sorry we are out of that as well. Now let me think a moment. Onion rings and strawberry pie is a trademark of Shoney’s. So then I thought let me check the food bar. Food was left from lunch. Took stroll over to the salad bar pickings were slim. I usually like eggs and macaroni salad on my salad, but there was none. I guess you might say this trip was a bust. I just can’t get how this is possible. Now I have been to different shoney’s in Nashville and surrounding cities and they are perfect. Food bar fresh. Salad bar stocked. Were not out of anything. We were told the general manager was 12. haha I guess I know why this Shoney’s has such bad customer service.

Sunday evening 6:00 went into shonneys my wife and I had a hamburger , fries and 1 iced tea,my wife had chicken salad sandwich and 1 iced tea, then she ordered a slice of pecan pie. the bill was $32.00 which was redicules. they charged 6.99 for a what looked to be a sliver of pecan pie. I will promise I will never eat there again . I am all about making money but not on one person . I am quite sure the pricing is the same across the board. fair pricing would be 3.75 or hign side 4.50. this was in Hillsville Virginia. For the kind of money I spent there I could have eaten at a nicer restaurant. August 18,2019

We visited this Shoney’s On Friday night, 07/19/2019. After a little wait with no one up front we were seated. The food on the bar was good but the waitress was terrible, her name was Hana. The restaurant wasn’t very busy, but we ran out of drinks and waited for 20 minutes to be told they were having a meeting to assign tables to the waitresses. She proceeded to stick her finger inside of our glasses to pick them up and brought us drinks back in those glasses. We left and went to pay where their was another customer complaining to management about the same waitress not bringing them any drinks. She came out of the back to argue with him. Management just blew him off and said they were busy and he needed to understand that. She ask how was our dinner and my husband said we had the same complaint and she said we are very busy and my husband told her he thought it was lack of waitress skills or training. She never apologized or anything. We have had many problems with this store and unfortunately will not be returning there to eat anymore. We usually don’t complain or give bad reviews but this store is out of hand and ridiculous

My daughter and I went for breakfast at the Shoneys in Dover Ohio. We arrived right at the transition time between breakfast and lunch. While my daughter was getting a salad from the buffet she saw an older gentleman waiting for a utensil to be placed in the tray of food. He wasn’t saying anything. Just waiting. The woman behind the buffet became really rude and snapped at this guy saying “we don’t have everything out yet. You’ll have to wait” and the man just put his head down, took his plate and walked away. Just the way she said it was VERY offensive and enough to make my daughter and myself uncomfortable. It turns out this gentleman was seated right next to us and I noticed that he was wearing a black veterans baseball hat! Imagine that. Being rude to a veteran on INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!!!! I tried to be discreet and spoke with our server about what happened and her reasoning was that this man is a regular and knows he can’t get food off of the buffet until all the utensils are there. REALLY!!!! Are you friggen kidding me???? At this point I was done with this restaurant. My daughter and I decided we would go somewhere else and eat. We received our bill that charged us full price for the Fourth of July picnic lunch ($30) even though we only ate scraps from what was left of the breakfast part of the buffet. We also decided to take care of our veterans bill! We wanted him to know not everyone is a friggen jerk and thank him for his service. We will not EVER be visiting this restaurant again. ESPECIALLY after the treatment we witnessed to a veteran. Shame on you shoneys!!!!!!!!!

Was hired at Shoney’s as Bar Attendant on June 15, 2019. Was supposed to start training on Wednesday but it never happened. Instead, I have been stuck working in the Dish Room without any help. If a person is hired to do a certain job, but gets stuck doing something else, that’s not good on the employer. It shows mistrust and the loss of good workers. I no longer work at Shoney’s because I was never trained for what I was hired for. I was there only a week. Poor Management is what’s wrong with the Owensboro, Kentucky restaurant.

E topped in Shoneys n Gadsden AL for Father’s Day. Worse mistake we ever made. We eat the buffet there during the week. We decided to have the buffet. The waitress didn’t bother to tell us how much and your drink was included. I about has a heart attack when I saw the bill. We could have eaten at the Olive Garden or a steak house for what that buffet cost. The only thing that was different was hey added shrimp that was horrible and I am a big shrimp lover. I have never in my 77 years seen shrimp that small prepared a with the peels on them.. I will never recommend anyone to eat there again. My last time to ever eat at Shoneys. Oh yes our bill for that awful small buffet total was almost 33 dollars for the two of ua . It is a small buffet. Was a big waste of money.

Shoney’s was and has been my favorite place to eat breakfast. Since closing the ones near us, we always stop or go to the one in West Memphis, Arkansas.. This past Saturday morning was one of those days. This has undoubtedly got to be the dirtiest Shoney’s there is. We had to go and get our own silver and drinks after waiting for twenty minutes. Were they busy no. The floors and tables had not been cleaned in what looked like to be in forever. Even the bottoms of tables and chairs had corroded food on them this was not really noticed until after we sat down to eat.. One of the customers had plate knocked out of his hand by someone sitting to close to end of bar, they took rag and broom and cleaned up but never mopped it up. Someone really needs to do an undercover boss on this location. It is horrible!!!!!!!! Not worth the price of the buffet. A convenience store would have been cleaner. Please check out this locations.

Its been about 3 yrs since I been in a shoneys because was never crazy about food etc. Wife and I decided to stop in one I think it was Murfreesboro, tn. Worst experience ever. The food sucked, No pancakes, no waffles. Bacon, sauage and French toast had absolutely no flavor neither did the melon. The tab/bill was 30 dollars I almost hit the f-ing floor. On top of that they charged me 2.79 for a cup of coffee. WTF man? Cream was bad so I sent it back. Waitress said ill take it off bill and they didn’t. Had to wait for manager and then wait while he did it. I will never patronize another shoneys restaurant again for the rest of my life. Advice to all, STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM SHONEYS RESTAURANTS, PRICES ARE SHY HIGH AND FOOD REALLY SUCKS. Not to mention my stomache was hurting and upset after the little food I ate. Glad I didn’t eat more.

I have grown up with Shoneys and hate to see it decline. I also worked for Shoneys and Captain D’s back in the late 70’s. I now have a MSM degree and would to offer some suggestions to help.
First to my dismay, it does not appear that Shoneys expects the same employee performance as when I worked for the company years ago. One thing that helped was the fact that your organization used “secret customers” to evaluate and give feedback.
Secondly, Shoneys need to revamp their menu items. Some of the things that might help would be: offer omelette stations along with the breakfast buffet, create your own fries or baked potato with cheese, bacon, sour cream, etc., wing buffet with spicy, plain, etc. add alcohol to your menu.
My last suggestion is to revamp your buildings like the one in Athens, AL. It is horrible.
Thank you,
Vickie

My husband and I made the unfortunate decision to dine at the Church Street, Murfreesboro, TN location this evening. We were seated next to the food bar even though we did not plan to eat from the bar. In short order, we were indeed glad we made the decision to NOT eat from the food bar. For the next 40 to 45 minutes, we witnessed two young men filling their plates from the salad bar to include (but definitely not limited to): using tongs to pick up food items, lick their fingers and then use those same fingers to wipe the items off the tongs, lick their fingers and wipe the edge of the dressing bottles, pick up food (with the same licked fingers) from the containers and put it in their mouths. I was quite dismayed witnessing this and thinking to myself that others eating from the bar did not have a clue what had occurred immediately prior to serving themselves from the same containers. The wait staff was oblivious. This behavior went on for some time with me wondering where the parents were and why no one was watching or helping these children. The absolute final straw for me was when one young man came back to the bar again and placed mashed potatoes on his plate, picked up the spoon in the gravy, stuck his tongue to the spoon to taste the gravy before dipping it back into the gravy and spoon it onto his potatoes. I think I audibly gasped and made some reference to my husband regarding the health department. I looked up to realize that one of the wait staff observed the same. He looked at me and asked if this had occurred before. I told him that it had been going on the entire time we had been seated. He went into the kitchen and got another employee who appeared to be related to the child since she came out, seemed to scold him and finished serving his plate. The potatoes and gravy were removed, but I am sorry to say that these items were far from all that needed to be removed. I have always been suspicious that these things occurred with food bars, but I have never witnessed it prior to today. I believe the Health Department would shut this bar down if they witnessed such behavior. These boys seemed to treat the food bar as their home kitchen. I am sure their parents do not mind eating after them, but I am fairly certain the masses do not wish to do so. Also, flies … nothing more to be said. I believe one person assigned exclusively to the food bar could have avoided what I witnessed tonight. We are not a problem for you since we will probably NOT be dining at Shoney’s anytime in the foreseeable future. Our ordered food was mediocre at best. I have until Monday to decide whether I will be calling the Health Department … just do not know yet.

Just to let you know that you lost a loyal customer when you raised the prices on the meals I usually get there, about 60%, over night. Example: Baked Spaghetti and the Salad Bar – before at $9.99 and after the increase to $15.98. Other meals that I ate there are at about the same percentage since you no longer provide the Salad Bar with the meal and charge $5.99 to get it with your meal. The salad bar is not even worth $5.99 standing alone with no entrée.
I was sorry to see that Shoney’s decided to get GREEDY! A 10% increase would have been more in line, ie: $9.99 to $10.99 not $15.98.
Food For Thought: This was discussed with other customers around my table and we all seemed to be in agreement.
I have not been back since July 1, 2018, the day it happened, and do not intend to ever go back since you decide to go from fair prices to a RIP OFF PRICES!!!
And since I’m sure you don’t care the word is being disseminated to all my family and friends!
As I pass by the restaurant I notice that this restaurant’s business has decreased.
Just think, in a short time this Shoney’s store might close for good if corporate does not change this course of action! I was never really busy prior to the rate increase either.

T0 our dismay this wasn”t the case. Another customer heard our dismay about not having the pork chops for our anniversary went in turn to the manager told them of our plight. In return the gracious manger of this store went out of his way and prepared the said meal. We thought this was above and beyond the greatest participation of the Shoney:s Manager. Thanks to the Shoney:s corporation.

The assistant manager said there was nothing he could do about reprimanding the employees because they were off the clock when the incident happened, even though they were wearing their Shoneys uniform and happened on their parking lot. I am st Cartersville,GA they 20 Shoneys. Thus the first of these restaraunts I have seen in years. Back in the 80’s I worked at Shoney s in Chattanooga,TN and if out store ever looked like this mess the wrath of management would have fallen! We were required to carry trays.buy evidently that’s fallen by the way. There were two servers but only one was working. Dawn was busting her butt while the other pretty much done very little. The tables were dirty and Dawn had no help in sight. My manager,Roger Rehagen, would have been on the floor helping clean bus tables but management never came thru the swinging door. The only way I knew a manager was there was the other server was talking to her/him thru the service window, and cursing so guest could hear. The girl keeping the bar up was doing a great job. She and Dawn appeared to be the only people who cared about your guest . I think Shoney s prices have soared as service has fallen. Shoney s should be grateful for the two employees that were working. I know that if I am in Cartersville again this is not where I will spent my hard earned money. I wanted to get up and show them how we used to work in the days I was employed by Shoney s. I think at my age and with my disability that Dawn and I could have handled things so much better than things were done tonight. Good training and a love for serving others goes a long way. I have never forgotten the tools I learned when i was a waitress back then. I am saddened to see how far this company has fallen. I guess that’s why we rarely see them any longe r

I will not be returning to Shoneys for employment. I cannot get over how rude the manager Dan was to me. He accused me of hating it there and all I was doing was listening and trying to learn. I was enjoying myself and had zero complaints from anyone. He ruined the whole experience for me and I’m looking for a job where I can stay.
The whole situation was about what I look like not what I was doing. I am extremely offended. He was very rude and not apologetic at all. If this is indicative of how Shoneys is run then I definitely don’t want to be part of it. I can’t help what I look like when I’m thinking and concentrating. I have been waiting tables for over 20 yrs. I’m good at it and could have been an asset to your company. Again it is not right to discriminate against people because of their looks. I’m a very happy person wether or not he thinks so.

Every year in February, we take our youth, from the church, on a Black History trip. This year, we ended up taking the youth on the trip March 4, 2017. We drove to Natchez, MS on our church van. We had about 40 plus people ranging in ages from 6 years old to senior citizens. On our way back to Canton, MS, we stopped at Shoney’s located at 26 Sgt Prentiss Dr, Natchez, MS 39120. Since there was a KFC and Taco Bell, next door, a few of the children decided to patronize those restaurants. There were about 20, including me, my mother, husband, 2 children and godson, who stayed and ate at Shoney’s. The tables were nasty and we had to clean them ourselves. The waitress was attentive, however the manager was horrible. $11.22 gratuity was automatically included on our bill (I paid for 6 people. 1 of the persons on my ticket was a senior citizen). Once everyone had eaten and was at the register to pay, the manager became hostile. I advised the young lady, at the register, that I had a senior on my ticket so that she could give me the adjustment. SHE GAVE ME NOTHING. She said “ok” I asked did she give me the discount and she said “yes.” I HAVE NEVER GONE TO A PLACE, WITH MY MOTHER, AND NOT RECEIVED HER SENIOR DISCOUNT. Next, one of the senior bus drivers DID NOT get his senior discount and the manager stated to him that since the rest of the people went elsewhere to eat, the bus drivers HAD TO PAY!! I have never heard of bus drivers having to pay just because half of us ate there and the other half went next door. That made no sense. The manager then proceeded to argue, loudly and unprofessionally with the elderly bus driver. I was appalled at her poor customer service skills. The manager should concentrate on keeping the restaurant/bathrooms clean and work on her customer service skills. She charged children gratuity!!!! Who does that? We will NEVER visit that Shoney’s ever again due to the uncleanliness, poor service, bad attitude (of the manager) and hostility we received. Your Regional/District Manager(s) should look into hiring a more professional manager. There were children present and the manager did not care as she argued with one of the senior citizens in our party. She was combative and belligerent.

Good evening,
I am emailing you in regards to an experience my husband had tonight 3/18/17 in your Cartersville, GA location. I am honestly dissapointed in the way my husband was treated. He walked into Shoney’s to buy a pie around 9 pm. When he walked up to the greeter and asked if he could buy a pie. The greeter informed him they were out of pies. People were buying pies as they spoke and my husband asked why they had so many on the counter ready to buy, would he possibly be able to buy one of those. As he was asking this, another customer entered, bought a pie and left. The greeter told him he was not going to sell him a pie. Honestly, and I hate to throw out racism, but the other customers were Caucasian and my husband is Indian. I do not appreciate him being treated this manner. This was our first time a Shoneys location and frankly will be our last if this is the way he will be treated.

After the breakfast bar being only a few items compared to all the previous times and told the sausage rice was no longer offered for the day we decided to stay for lunch as well. The server was fantastic, always are, but we have begun noticing the quick rotation of managers. Also the place needs a spruce up. The booth benches are broken, windows dirty, and the floors look old and filthy. When cashing out the cashier threw away our receipt, we asked her for it back and she began digging through the trash? Very unsanitary. Would have appreciated her just printing us a new one. We are extremely dissatisfied that we were unable to use our coupon because the kiosk was down for use. UNACCEPTABLE. Contacted corporate and the gentlemen could have cared less stating someone higher up in management would reach out to us. We will now request to have our phone numbers removed from the text messages with coupons per we will no longer be visiting this Shoney’s location.
Thanks,
The Saylor family

Your employees is Ashburn, Ga kicked out their customers for a tornado warning. They told all customers they had to leave and locked the door and went to the back to take cover for themselves. Not even a mile away trees and signs are down everywhere. Luckily the hotel next door let them join us. Lives were on the line! Absolutely unacceptable.

My fiance and I snuck off for an early mor n ing breakfast this morning, which is rare since we have 3 kids still at home. We decided to go to your Glasgow, Ky location and must say that being disappointed was an understatement.
After fixing pur plates of food, which looked not-so-fresh, I noticed the biscuits were cold, along with the gravy and the eggs, and the potatoes. I asked my server if they had any hot and fresh biscuits and was appauled when she went behind the wall next to our booth and made the xomment, “This girl wants hit biscuits. She said these were cold and hard. They’re cold but not that hard.”
Seriously, if I wanted a cold breakfast I could have eaten a bowl of cereal at home.
23.00 later and after leaving hungrier than I started, I will say Shoney’s will not see another penny of my money.

My family and I were at the Ripley WV store today and purchased the buffet. There was prime rib and fish on the Buffett. The prime rib was so undercooked that it had traces of blood running out of it. My fiancé! asked if I could get a piece that was more cooked and was told yes by our waitress. I told her that if I saw any pink or blood that I couldn’t eat it. A few minutes went by and she brought a piece of prime rib to out table that was a lot more well done but it had a puddle of blood on it. The fish that was on the Buffett had a wet texture to it. The only thing on the buffett that was good was the butterflied shrimp. The lettuce was very dried out looking.
This is the first time we had been to the Ripley location in a very long time for the same reason but we thought we’d try again and were even more disappointed than the last time. Needless to say we will not be returning again.
For the price of the Buffett, $14.99, the food should have been much better. If I were the manager I would be very ashamed to serve the poor quality of food at that price. Again we were very disappointed in the meal.
Thank you
