Schlitterbahn Water Park was founded in 1979 by the Henry family. The company has headquarters in New Braunfels, Texas, just outside of Austin. The company currently has 5 seasonal water parks in Texas and Kansas. There are two more water parks being constructed at this time; one in Cedar Park, Texas, the other in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The word Schlitterbahn means “slippery road” in German, which the Henry’s thought suited the park. Most parks operate only April through September, although the park on Galveston Island has a small indoor section, which enables it to remain open all year.
The tragic death of a 10 year old child occured at the original park in New Braunfels, on the ride called Verruckt (meaning “crazy” in German) on August 7, 2016. This has kept most of the park closed until investigators determine exactly what happened.

Took my wife and 4 grandchildren this past week.. 6/26/19, to the Galveston park.. We had stayed an extra day because of weather and had already bought 6 tickets to the park.. Also traveled almost 200 miles. We were told that the torrent river was not open that day.. But there would be some waves, just not as big.. Nothing.. At the end of the day, finally, one honest employee admitted that some of the more expensive to operate rides were shut down to save money.. The park was pretty full until people started getting mad and leaving because the wave machine wasn’t on..You can’t get through on the phone, so there is no way to find out ahead of time.. Also. No Rain Checks? The people there the previous day got screwed.

I would love to work in an alliance with your company to give some dental benefits to your employees at the New Braunfels location, this is a complete benefit for your employees no strings attached ,
let me know if you are interested
Thank you in advance for your response,
Best Regards

Just wanted to say we stayed at the Corpus Christi resort and thought the room was great and people who worked there were super nice.
We were however feeling short changed that the resort closed at 5:00 pm that day when the published closing time was 7pm.
When we complained the front desk person said “sorry that was corporate’ decision.”
We had reservations there for at least two weeks ahead of time and at no time received notice that the park was closing early on 8/18/17—the night we were staying. The only draw about the resort is the water park. With that closed, we took two disappointed kids out for dinner and called it an early night. Had we known that the resort was closing early–we would have simply changed our plans and stayed the next day.
Given that we did not get what had been advertised in our stay “package” I feel totally slighted.

I have been trying to contact the Corporate Office Customer Relations Department. I contacted Schlitterbahn Reservations for the weekend 06/30 – 07/02, however during our reservation the agent system locked up and we lost the room rate. When the agent got her system back up and running the rooms were no longer available at the same rate. The agent promised to contact me back after she spoke with a manager to resolve the concern. I contacted the Reservation desk and spoke with a manager name Maria and she informed me the agent had left the office for the day. The agent let me an email and I attempted to contact her back. However, After explaining my issue to the manager Maria, she went and listened to the call and stated she could not honor the price because I didn’t get the opportunity to give her my credit card and the reservation is not considered completed unless we had gotten to that point. She also stated that I would have to except whatever rate was available at the time.
Apparently this water park is so big until customer first resolution, building a good repore and going above and beyond is not important. I’m very disappointed and upset because we cancelled our previous reservation to visit the establishment for the first time. What a nightmare before it began, not to mention it’s my birthday celebration. Great disappointment from a managers stand point. The agents were polite and willing to make it right. I would like to thank Jennifer and Sheila for their outstanding customer service. I have no choice but to pay the higher rate this weekend and I am not happy with it at all.

To Whom It May Concern;
Your manager at your South Padre Island Resort is a real piece of work. She has ALL but one of the employees afraid of her. They do not go over her head because they fear the backlash they will get from her. She only allows your maintenance department to spend $100 A DAY & Expects them to fix all the A/C’s & Coolers (& what whatever else is in need of repair) You do have one employee who is not afraid of her & will stand up to her & not back down & she HATES it. She tries to keep people as “seasonal” that work there year around so she won’t have to provide benefits for them. He can tell her something & unless someone else says the same thing to her what he says to her “falls on deaf ears”. She can’t schedule to save her life or those of her employees & consideration for her employees does not exists.This one employee is the only one you have at this facility that can fix your A/C’s & Coolers,Etc.. Now the current Maintenance Supervisor has done a lot for & with this one employee. Such as get him put on as full time & not seasonal, has been considerate of the fact that he has TWO Autistic boys, & has been working with him on his Schedule in regards to appointments for them. The only thing your Manager cares about is herself & the almighty dollar. Oh! & making sure you all don’t find out the truth about what is really going on there & one of the ways she does this is by making sure this one employee isn’t working when you all visit, because she knows he will have NO PROBLEM WHATSOEVER saying something to you all. She has recently taken over doing the schedule for maintenance & the first time she did it she pulled her usual stunt of giving everyone 40 hrs. except for the one employee, until he raised heck & reminded her that he’s the only she’s got tot fix her A/C’s & Coolers. Now she gives him THE WORST possible schedule she can. She seems to play games with him in a way that gives you the impression that she wants him to quit so she doesn’t have to pay Unemployment, & i can tell you he’ll put up with her BS until she fires him or lays him off. There is one other maintenance worker who unless he’s on days where he can be watched he will hide up in a room & talk on his phone the whole time & she protects him. IF he does work the other two have to go back & redo what he supposedly did. The one worker with the 2 Autistic boys I’ve heard refers to Schlitterbahn as “Nightmare Schlitterbahn”. I’ve also heard that this job was supposed to temporary for him until he could find something better. Then he found out his CDL License was suspended due to expired Medical Card. I know he is a Mechanic by trade & have heard that he will be getting his CDL License reinstated with his tax refund he just got. It is my opinion that this lady has no business being in the position she’s in because for her it is ALL about power & control, & that is just flat out wrong!! I’ve heard you’ve got some good employee’s there but you couldn’t tell because of her & the way she runs the place & treats (or lack there of) the employees. Thank you!!
