Santander Bank can trace its roots back more than 100 years to 1902 when it was founded as Sovereign Bank in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. Going back even further, Banco Santander was founded in Spain in 1857. During the 1920’s Santander began rapidly expanding, starting branches in the US. The company had annual revenue in 2013 of $3.345 billion and employed almost 10,000 persons in the US.
In 2011, Santander moved its headquarters from Wyomissing, Pennslyvania, to Boston, Massachusetts. All branches, including international branches, formerly named Sovereign Bank, were rebranded by the end of 2013.
The bank offers an array of financial services and products including retail banking, home mortgages, corporate banking, credit cards, cash management, insurance, and trust and wealth management services.
In March 2015, Scott Powell was appointed to be the head of U.S. business at Santander, and CEO of Santander Holdings USA, replacing Roman Blanco.
In December 2018, Santander named David Harnisch to be the head of their commercial banking division.

I am having the worst experience ever in my life with Santander Bank! I deposited my 401k check into bank. I then called a few days later to be told that my check came up as a red flag.. that it would be on hold for a few days. The following day i went to take my children for dinner and my debit card is shut down!!! I then call and they tell me i can not use my debit card until the check has cleared and that i can only access my funds by going into the branch. I then after going back and forth with the most unprofessional customer service reps and they all tell you something else , having a melt down, after all that at 11pm i check my phone app and my money had posted to my account. I then go back into the branch after speaking with a nice customer rep on the phone to with drawl money and reactivate my debit card.NO!!! again same lady in the fraud department telling me i can not access my money and no debit card until this thursday!!! Why the hell is my money in the posted available to with drawl stance then????? I have been given nothing but the run around. Treated like a criminal! You cant reach a darn person on the higher up or cooperate level. I still have no answers. I called the number from where the check came from..the 401k company and they said yes it cleared with us today 9/16/19..why!!!!! today can i still NOT have my debit card or access MY money???? Why will they not call the number i offered them to call????? This is by far the worst service ever.. The time and stress over this is by far not worth it. Horrible way to do business!

I have a major problem with Santander security . My checking account and my mother’s checking which I am P.O.A. for her checking account has been blocked !! When calling security won’t do any thing until Monday . There are checks written on each account could go back as rubber . Even thou each account has enough money in them to cover bills . This is the first security move .blocking the accounts ! The second move your security has said fraud !! !! I wrote a check from my mother’s Investment account which I was given premission by my mother to write it ! with the professional Investment company some thing that Santander can only dream about being professional ! This was for $ 41,000 my mother’s professional investment officer had left the company . I sent the check before I knew of his leaving the company . So the check was sent back ! Now it is fraud by your security department and there locks on every account !! Because my signature does not look like mine . I was depositing into my personnel account checking a check written by my self . The investment officer knows this was going to happen. He sold some bonds to have enough money to cover the amount . Unlock our accounts let the checks coming in be cashed so we don’t get any rubber checks tossed back at us . We won’t take any money out until security is happy . Question I have why did Santander not call me ?? Or is that false accusations against me ? Well ,when these accusations are proven false I will filing a complaint with the CEO of Santander U.S.A.

Ready to submit a formal complaint to banking commission in Rhode Island. The application for line of credit submitted May 10, 2019 closed two weeks ago still no funds. The issues encountered were nothing less than incompetence on so many levels it’s ridiculous.
I have been a customer for a few years and I feel completely drained and stressed from the anxiety the loan department has caused. Especially when they say they will call with an answer and never do.
