Good evening, so this morning me and my brother went to the Bishops Corner Office to deposit a check into my account because my brothers ID had expired on April 23, 2021. As we entered the bank we were asked how can we help you. I explained to the teller my situation and that I wished to deposit my brothers check into my account. She then asked to see the check. She looked at the amount (2185.33) and then said that she couldn’t do it for me. As she was saying that the manager also agreed with her. So I took my brothers check and left out to my car. I then call another Peoples Bank and explained to her my situation and she said that I was able to do it. I would have to have a paper notarized that he would sign. So me and my brother proceeded back inside the branch and let a different teller know what I needed help with. She then asked the same lady and she explained to me the same thing I had explained to her the first time we came in the bank. Long story short I felt as if we was racially profiled. Young black women doesn’t have that much in her bank or whatever they were thinking. I’m a hard working single mother and this is the first time I’ve ever felt this way. I will never return to this branch EVER.

This bank is either horrible OR horribly run on a local level. Every single time I go to this bank I have an issue. I deposited a payroll check from a fortune 500 company and was told it would be available the next morning which is was. When I call the phone to hear my AVAILABLE balance it reflects that the check cleared. When I look at my mobile app it reflects that the check cleared. I proceed to pay a few bills and the following day after that, my wife goes to the bank on Elm Street in West haven (stop and shop) to withdraw some cash and instead of the teller simply processing the transaction she on her own (her name is angel) decides that that “seems odd” that the funds were available that quickly (2 days) and says I can’t let you withdraw your money without talking to my manager, a manager who was not there at that???? Are you kidding me???? you think your bank can hold my money hostage??? Her screen said it was available the phone said it was available, the app said it was available and this lady Angel decides that it’s not? This is not the first time I’ve had issues with the tellers at that bank it seems as though they are always hoping to find a way not to allow me to use my own money. I am done with peoples bank and it’s funny because I was actually going to get a home loan with your bank but instead once these few transactions are completed I will be closing this account and getting my home loan elsewhere. I thought you should know that people like Angel at the bank on elm street are costing business that would out weigh their annual salary.

Hello,
I am very disappointed with your customer service. I moved to California last year and I kept my account open up until recently. I had move my direct deposit to Wells Fargo but tried to keep my people account open. of course during the transition I forgot a few places and they were charged to the account that I had made a a 0 balance. One fraud charge which I took care of. While in the process of trying to resolve the over draft fee I asked for the account to be frozen and was told no and if I did not pay bring the account to zero I would be reported. I was on the phone to resolve the issue and I was meet with threats. That is your customer service. I will be sure to let all my social media friend and colleges hear about how you treat customers that are try to resolve issues. Never again will I recommend your bank.

I recently attempted to deposit checks into my savings account, which I have had for over 10 yrs. I was asked for my id and who is the person the check was made out to ect. After all my information had been given I was told my the manager I would need the person who the check was for to come with an id to deposit the checks. I was confused due to there being enough money to cover the checks. I did return with the person and the appropriate id to deposit the checks , only to have to fill out more paperwork, when asked the teller and manager a question I found them to be very uncaring. I decieded to close my accounts out instead of deposit the original checks . I guess peoples has enough money and can afford to lose customers. June 26, 2015

I am writing to you because I am absolutely disgusted that I was charged a $23.46 international assessment fee for an airline ticket transaction that I made here in the United States. I was told by your sarcastic supervisor that the company issuing the ticket was located in Belgium and therefore I was charged the fee. How was I supposed to know the company was located there? Additionally, you charged me more for the actual cost of the ticket than what I was quoted at checkout. I suppose People’s decided to give me the worst exchange rate possible in order to make more money. It wasn’t a large amount, but if you’re doing this to everyone, your making a lot of money taking advantage of your customers. You know who doesn’t charge international transactions fees? Capital One and I’m not talking about their credit card, I’m talking about their debit cards.
I’m so tired of People’s Bank. I have several accounts with you including one which has a substantial amount in it and 4 that are my children’s accounts. When my kids return home from college, I’m closing out those accounts. Way to go building legacy and loyalty! I have been with People’s for over 25 years and this includes both my husband’s and my credit cards. However, your policies and rules have become so corporate that you are no longer the friendly, small town, family-type business you used to be. I have had nothing but problems with People’s in the last year.
When we applied for a mortgage last fall, requesting an amount that was less than half of what we were paying on our previous home, you nearly denied our application. What?? We had had a mortgage for 22 years, had never been late on a payment, our credit score was fantastic and we had absolutely no credit card debt. You were going to deny a $190,000 mortgage to a couple who makes over three figures. Unbelievable. Additionally, your loan people, with the exception of our officer, couldn’t even communicate on a professional level. In some instances we had to give them the same paperwork 4 times. It was a circus and we were left jumping through the hoops. It was one of the worst experiences I have ever been through and almost cost us the purchase of the house. And then to add insult to injury, you sold the loan.
You took away our PMA account and made it a checking account. Why? Because I had to make too many transfer transactions in a month. As I’ve said before I have my children’s accounts attached to mine so I can transfer money when they need it at college. I received 1 notice that I had too many transfer transactions, but not a second one and by the time the 3rd one came, you had changed my account over. All this when I’m in the middle of moving and applying for a loan. Additionally, you charged me fees for going over the allowable number of transfer transactions. Really? In the past if I tried to make a transfer over the allowable amount I wasn’t allowed to make the transfer. Now you add a charge. How convenient . People’s can make money out of someone’s minor error and then transfer a PMA account to a checking account where the interest is lower. You win all the way around don’t you?
Speaking of Student Accounts, why are you charging my son fees? He was told he had 4 free withdrawal transactions and no monthly charge, yet you’ve disregarded your promise and charged him anyway. Do you think your customers won’t bother to challenge you for a credit of the fees? Most likely you’re right because students don’t have the time to spend dealing with these problems and then you get to keep to money.
So, in light of all the issues I’ve been subjected to, I will be looking for a more customer friendly bank and a credit card with better cash back rewards. Kind of funny how charging a $23.46 fee breaks the camel’s back. I used to speak so highly of People’s Bank and now I couldn’t begin to recommend you without being a charlatan. But, I suppose making sure your stockholders are getting their money’s worth is a better bet than losing loyal customers. Such a shame.

Good afternoon,
I am currently a customer of People’s United Bank in Massachusetts, more specifically, the Saugus location.
It takes a lot for me to sit down and take time out of my day to send a complaint. I have no problem sending praise but this is not my thing.
However, I am feeling so utterly victimized by your banking institution, that this seemed like a necessary first step.
I recently had a check come through that sent my account into an overdraft situation. While this is definitely my fault, what followed was beyond……
A check I had written in May, and subsequently forgotten about, came through my account last week (mid July). This sent me into an overdraft. I understand that it is my responsibility to keep track of my account and I accepted the overdraft fee without a problem.
When I realized that I was in the negative I went and deposited $500 to rectify it and to keep funds in my account. I am going on vacation with my children and every dollar counts right now. I soon realized that your bank could care less about the people that keep their money in your institution. Since that initial overdraft and my deposit I have now been hit with 9 (NINE) overdraft fees of $37.00 each.
I cannot tell you how infuriating this is. The responses and reactions of your customer service department were so impersonal, taunting, rude, condescending and utterly reprehensible. They could have cared less that they basically TOOK my money because they finagled my deposit and withdrawals so that they could justify hitting me with all of these fees. I am beyond angry and intend to take this to the next level, whether it be the Better Business Bureau or whoever can investigate these business practices.
I was further prompted when I was directed to a link of people complaining of the exact same problem with this bank.
You should be ashamed of yourselves. I know you won’t be because compassion and customer service are not part of your business. Instead of looking at my situation and seeing that I tried to remedy the overdraft immediately, you charged my $37.00 for 3 separate charges of $2.24 each. Absolutely disgraceful.
I was asking for 8 of the 9 charges back, since the initial check was my fault. I found it interesting that I had 4 items come through but only one overdraft fee showed up the next day. The rest of them showed up after my deposit and after I began making purchases.
I would like to have those charges reversed. If this is not going to happen, you will have reinforced everything that I, and apparently, countless other people feel about your bank.
You’re websites are littered with sayings about people and community…..it is all a lie. You don’t care one iota about any member of your bank.
In closing, you should not have to be told that your client base is made up of many different people and their situations vary from day to day and from case to case. Your cookie cutter style of thievery is reprehensible.
Sadly, I am sure to be a former customer after this incident.
Sine I have been prompted to speak out at this point, I will not stop until I am heard from a level that satisfies my need to feel vindicated by the treatment fron your staff.
It’s too bad that Revere Federal has evolved into such a monster.
