Panasonic was founded in 1918 in Osaka, Japan, by K. Matsushita. The original company name was Matsushita Electric Industrial Company. The company is one of the largest electronics producers in the world.
The company changed its name in the 1960’s after Mr. Matsushita met with American dealers and manufacturers. The company began to make televisions under the Panasonic name. Today, Panasonic is the 4th largest television manufacturer in the world. Panasonic has made numerous acquisitions over the years, perhaps the most notable being the Sanyo company in December of 2009.
In 2014, Panasonic announced that they were working together with, and providing funding, for Tesla Motors batteries. In June of 2016, Tesla announced that Panasonic would be the exclusive supplier of batteries for their Model 3 cars. The company also released a “transparent” television in 2016
