Aly Orady always had problems with his weight. His bigger problem was that working in the tech industry of Silicon Valley, he didn’t have time to hit the gym. Orady found that weight lifting or yoga was difficult to do on your own, so he created an at-home system with digital weights and virtual classes called Tonal.

Tonal was founded in 2015 but it has already become a successful company. Tonal fills a need within the general public for health and fitness. This is particularly true during the Covid-19 pandemic which has forced the closure of most gyms and fitness centers. Now, more than any other time in recent history, there is a need for at-home fitness systems and although the quarantine has taken its toll on the health of people forced to stay at home, Tonal provides an option for continuing core strength training and overall fitness.

NBA star LeBron James became a company spokesperson and investor in the company in October 2021.

History

David Baron was a student at UNC-Chapel Hill when he discovered that futons don’t always fit very well and are uncomfortable for some people.

Baron went on to develop a functional foam sofa that can be converted into beds, chairs, and more.

All orders were initially placed online but in 2015, the company struck a deal with Wayfair and Rooms to Go to sell their products.

History

Sales began to skyrocket in 2020 during the quarantine and consumers are now complaining that there are long waits to have their furniture delivered.

The reasonably priced sofa has many consumers clamoring for more and Nugget is struggling to meet the demand.

In 2016, Mazlish completed his design of “the perfect office chair”. Spending an almost unbelievable $4 million on television advertising in its first year, Mazlish knew what he was doing and the company has become almost a household name.

Roxanne Cox, vice president of human resources at Hanover Company, a Houston-based private real estate company that develops and manages multifamily residential properties nationwide, placed an order for 155 X-Chairs in May of 2019 after her COO saw an ad on TV. “We must have tested 40 different chairs when he saw the advertisement,” Cox recalls. “X-Chair had all the features that we were looking for, which were lumbar support, flexibility, lightweight and ergonomic. ”

History

Unlike most other office chairs, the X-Chair can be ordered with heating or cooling capabilities, as well as massage features.

The company was founded in 2014 by current President and COO Johnson Cook and CEO Timothy Sheehan.

The company uses Mastercard services only and card services are provided by and FDIC insured through Community Federal Savings Bank.

History

Greenlight Educational Savings Account for Kids, founded in 2018, allows parents to incentivize saving through parent-paid interest. Through the app, kids can set savings goals for specific purposes which will also earn the parent-paid interest.

For $5 per month, the company will issue up to 5 debit cards to family members.

Greenlight claims it has 4.5 million paid users as of October 2021.

In September 2021, the company’s valuation nearly doubled to $2.3 billion after raising another $260 million in Series D funding.

Green Acres Nursery & Supply is a local, family-owned garden center serving the Greater Sacramento Area. Elk Grove, Folsom, Rocklin, Roseville, and Sacramento.

Started by the Gill family in 2003, Green Acres has grown tremendously over the past two decades.

In May 2014, Green Acres acquired Matsuda’s Nursery and rebranded it as a Green Acres location.

BERC awarded Green Acres Nursery for its efforts to conserve water in Sacramento, California, county in September 2021.

In October 2020, Green Acres acquired Eisley Nursery in Auburn, California, for an undisclosed sum.

As of October 2021, the company now has 6 locations across Northern California.
