Kriser’s Natural Pet was founded by Brad Kriser in 1998. When a friend in Colorado showed Kriser the difference that a natural diet made to his 16-year-old dog, Kriser decided to open his own store and offer the same type of healthy eating to other pet owners.

History

Kriser opened his first store in Chicago, Illinois, in 2006. The company has now grown to 34 locations across 5 states. While many other pet stores are facing difficulties, Kriser’s Natural Pet continues to expand and grow, with a 5th store opening in the greater Houston, Texas area in late 2022.

The company offers grooming services, natural pet foods and treats of the highest quality, toys, leashes, and collars, along with creative training guides and training aids. Kriser’s offers only pet foods that are corn, wheat, soy, and by-product-free, non-irritating grooming products, along with other natural treats and pet supplies.

Kriser’s employs more than 200 people and had $10 million in revenue in 2014.

In March 2022, the company was named as one of the top 25 pet retailers in North America by Pet Magazine.

Kriser’s Natural Pet maintains a corporate office in Studio City, California.

Eleven Madison Park Restaurant was founded in 1998 by Danny Meyer. In 2006, chef Daniel Humm began working for Meyer. Humm and Will Guidara purchased the restaurant from Meyer in 2011. Humm and Guidara also own the NoMad Restaurant in the NoMad Hotel. Both of these restaurants are owned by the Made Nice Group.

The restaurant offers one, multi-course taste testing menu that is inspired by New York’s culinary traditions. Eleven Madison Park offers contemporary American cuisine and has won 5th place in the S. Pelligrino List of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2014. Chef Humm was also won the James Beard Award as Outstanding Chef.

Eleven Madison Park has also released a cookbook by the same name in 2011. Humm and Guidara also released a second cookbook in 2012 entitled “I Love New York: Ingredients and Recipes”.

Concord Pet Food & Supply

Concord Pet Food & Supply, often called Concord Pet, began in 1978 when the Mutschler family began looking for an easier and less expensive way of feeding their horses. Larry Mutschler began by selling pet food, including horse feed, out of a mobile home on the family property. Mutschler opened his first retail location, a 1,000-square-foot building, on Concord Pike in Wilmington, Delaware, and thus began the name. Larry Mutschler was the only employee at first, but later added family members and a family friend as a partner. This building is still in use today as a warehouse for the company.

Today, Concord Pet has 28 locations between Malvern, Pennsylvania, and Seaford, Delaware. The company focuses on personalized attention such as carrying food bags to customer’s vehicles and offering expert advice on the proper feed and care of animals.

Petland

Petland was founded in Ohio by Ed Kunzelman in 1967. Today, the company has more than 250 stores in the U.S., Mexico, Japan, Canada, and South Africa. Petland has been valued at $50 million and has revenue in the U.S. , on average, of $3 million.

History

Petland is different from other pet stores as they state that they do not sell “puppy mill” dogs or cats. The company works together with local shelters and rescue centers for the adoption of dogs, cats, and other rescued animals. Under the “Adopt-A-Pet” program, which Petland initiated in 1998, the company says that hundreds of thousands of animals have been adopted into permanent, loving homes. All adopted animals are spayed or neutered and some locations offer micro-chipping as an extra safety measure.

While Petland claims to only sell pets from animal shelters, a report from the Humane Society stated that nearly every Petland store purchased puppies from puppy mills.

A lawsuit in 2020 showed that a customer who purchased a dog on credit would have paid nearly $26,000 in interest and financing charges.

The Humane Society accused Petland of using puppy mills in January 2023.

Petland maintains a corporate office in Chillicothe, Ohio.

Signet Jewelers was founded in 1949. Originally named The Ratner group, the company is now one of the largest retailer of diamonds and diamond jewelry. Signet Jewelers expanded greatly through a series of mergers and acquisitions and took on the Signet name in 1993.

History

The company moved its main stock market listing from the London to the New York Stock Exchange, where it is publicly traded under the ticker symbol: SIG. Signet Jewelers purchased Zale Corporation in February of 2014 for $1.4 billion. This merger makes Signet Jewelers a $6.2 billion company.

In mid-August 2020, Signet has decided to reopen stores using a COVID safety plan called Love Takes Care.

Signet Jewelers has more than 3,500 Kay, People, and Jared’s Jewelry stores and states profits in 2014 were $58 million or .72 cents per share.
