I have ordered my holiday food from Luby’s for years whether it was in Kerville, Waco or Arlington , Texas. I move back to my hometown in Waco In which the Luby’s in Waco went out of business several years ago. My daughter lives in the Dallas area so I had her to order me two quarts of cornbread dressing which was terrible. It had no seasoning, no broth no celery and tasted like corn bread only. Dallas is the only city that I have ever experienced this type of cornbread dressing. I believe the person that fixed this dressing needs more training because he/ or she doesn’t know how to make cornbread dressing. The phone number to this store is 214-337-0444 and the order number was 793529 and my daughters name is Latrice Wright

I have tried twice now to make this comment. I went to Luby’s in Kingwood yesterday and used their Curb Side service. Not only was my food delicious, but my service was outstanding. The young lady that took my payment and brought me my food was a complete doll. She was very friendly and polite. She is an asset to your restaurant Kingwood. My receipt says her name was Katharin. Tall girl with reddish blonde hair. I hope I get her the next time I order. Oh, I will definitely be back! Cuddos!

To Whom It May Concern:
My husband and I have been going to Luby’s for a very long TIME, matter of fact we would dine there 4 times a week. We are devastated that you are closing, we would go to your NASA Rd 1 location in Nassau Bay, Tx and also the one Located at 20001 Gulf Frwy Webster, Tx. My concern is how I’m I ever going to find the amazing liver you serve, and the green gelatin that has crushed pineapples , nuts, and I think cottage cheese. Do you have a cookbook with these recipes that I may purchased. I so hope you respond,
Thank you for all the years of cooking for us….I’m leaving my work number if you will please answer, or even share the recipe at least for the liver, if you don’t have a cook book.

My concern is with Luby’s San Antonio #3 at 911 North Main, San Antonio, Texas 78212. I am posting here because I am not getting any help elsewhere. I reached out to a person in HR Benefits in an effort to find the right person and was dismissed regarding the pay issue.
On February 9th I was I was called into the office by Mr. Antonio Avena the General Manager. At this time Mr. Avena and Mr. Emiliano Garza, Assistant Manager told me they had to terminate another individual named Jimmy who served in two roles as dishwasher during the first half of the day and then grill cook form 5 pm to close. They informed me that they were going to need me to take over the grill position effective immediately as Jimmy and had the same schedule Friday through Tuesday as I did. I would be relieving the day shift grill cook David Hernandez who also worked Friday through Tuesday. I said okay I can do whatever you need me to do. Mr. Garza, Assistant Manager stated and Mr. Avena agreed that they would be bumping me up from $9.75 to $11.00 per hour due to duty changes in my work. It was my belief and understanding that they would make the rate change effective on that date 2/9/20 because there was not any type of condition or time frame as to when the pay increase would take effect. It was not processed.
After being out due to documented illnesses from 2/15 -2/20, when I returned to work on Friday 2/21/20 I asked Mr. Avena about my pay raise and he responded “I said we were going to bump you up?” I reminded him of the conversation and he said he would take care of it. After being out on 3/1 and 3/2 due to an extreme flare up of rheumatoid arthritis in both hands, I returned to work on 3/3 only to be turned away because of restrictions, I again spoke to Mr. Avena about the increase in pay and again, was told that it would be taken care of, It was not. I returned on 3/4/20 with the medical documentation putting me out until 3/12/20 and that is when Mr. Avena processed the request for the LOA without pay.
Because of the fact that this bump in pay was never processed and based on the conversation on 2/9 I believed the bump would be dated for it to take effect on 2/9/20, I was not paid the following amounts:
For the dates of 2/9 -2/11 regular hours 25.41 * $1.25 increase = $31.76 plus 5.41 * $16.50 overtime pay for a total of $121.02
For the weeks of 2/13 – 2/26 regular hours 49.07 * $1.25 increase = $61.34 plus 15.80 * $16.50 overtime pay for a total of $322.04
For the weeks of 2/27 – 3/11 regular hours 26.16 * $1.25 increase = $32.70 for a grand total of $475.76.
Now, mind you, prior to my first absences from 2/15 – 2/20 and even after I was a very hard worker to the point where they knew if they needed me to come in on a day off or even come at 7:30Am to do laundry, which was what I was originally hired to do, I never said no. If you look at my pay periods I always was working quite a bit of overtime, I was happy to be able to help the restaurant in any area they needed me to. I would step in and if they needed me in a different area and I saw this, I would volunteer in whatever area they needed covered. I wanted to learn everything to be the best asset to the management I could be. It was not only taking a tole on m y physical well-being, I also felt as though they were taking advantage of me and then when they did not process the pay increase that made things worse. LET ME BE CLEAR, I NEVER ASKED FOR AN INCREASE when they told me my duties were changing. THEY STATED THEY WERE GIVING ME THE INCREASE.

Luby’s, I’m expressing my dissatisfaction with the service I received at the Luby’s on Main Street in San Antonio. At approximately 2:20 pm on Jan 6, 2020, I entered the To Go area to place an order. There were two young ladies working, both appeared to be working the drive through. I waited a few minutes will they continued to work the drive thru orders. The two of them began to laugh and socialize with a particular customer in the drive thru. After that customer left, they still did not acknowledge me. Or even say “we will be right with you”. Finally, I asked if I had to go through the drive thru to place an order. They both looked at each other as if to say “you take the order”. One finally took my order, fried fish, mashed potatoes, black eye peas and a roll. The roll was sitting on top of the fish. Do you no longer use the little bags? The black eye peas were in placed in the large container, not in a small container where the juices would not run into the other items. The quality of service for the location has really gone down. I didn’t say anything at the time because I was very upset. But I tried three times to reach a manager by phone. The first time I was hung up on; second time no answer; the third time I was told that I was being transferred to a manager. The manager never did come on the line. I will make one more trip to this location, but only to express my displeasure with the service to a manager in person. Other than that I will no longer visit this location.

Dear Lubys,
I was so dissatisfied with the management at the Lubys in El Paso, Tx the one located on Chelsea street. Went to pick up our Thanksgiving dinner which was ordered a day before and when I go to pick it up the manager didn’t know what I was talking about. You had another manager by the name of Paul (which he no longer works there) that had that place a lot more organized. As a matter of fact there were other customers with orders that were not filled correct or did have orders for them which were already paid for. Customers asking for Mr. Paul as well because he knew what he and his staff were doing. Please retrain your management or bring Mr. Paul back. My family and I will no longer be customers of this Lubys location
Thank you

It appears that the manager of the store on W. Gray St in Houston has cancelled out the three handicap parking places at his restaurant close to the main entrance of his store by Houston City Officials. When I checked with the AWD Office in Washington, DC they informed me that the law is still in place that requires eating establishments to have handicap parking as close to the main entrance as possible!! Someone needs to fix this situation ASAP before a formal complaint is filed with the City, State and Federal Justice Dept. who handle Handicap Parking under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Nort to mention, but several weeks ago, I had to help an elderly woman with her walker ascend her way to the main entrance from where the new handicap parking spots are now located. As a disabled veteran married to someone who has several disabilities making her handicapped, this is an insult to not only veterans but all disabled persons in Houston. Shame on you Mr Pappas!

I got an email about the $6.99 Luann plates on my I phone, so my husband and I went to Luby’s in Rockwall, TX. We each got meals on the Luann, when I showed cashier my email, she said I had the wrong thing, I asked for the manager, she also said I did not have a certain chicken. She would not make any allowance, so we left and she threw away 2 wonderful looking meals! Guess $8.99 each. So, you had rather throw away $18.00 worth of food than to charge us $14 for it. We were very disappointed in your customer service. Her name is KiKi Hamilton. The Luby’s in Mesquite closed guess they had bad customer service also? I get your emails nearly every week will delete those!

The Lubys locates on Hulen Street in Fort Worth, Texas has a bad habit of refusing service in the walk up carry out line. The server tries to force customers into the long regular line because it keeps things slow in the take out side. What is the use of having the take out open if you don’t want to or are unable to manage both sides with employees. I weave called the corporate office several times and still no answer.

11-23-2018. I want to complain about the turkey purchased for Thanksgiving. This is the first time I was disappointed – really pissed when I opened the packaging to warm the roasted turkey. I was so mad I took a picture of the bird. Turkey for dinner was a bust. The meat looked awful and I took a picture of the the mess. This ruined dinner. I have bought thanksgiving dinner from Luby’s for years. I am very disappointed. The rest of the package was okay. I spent $152.70 for the package. I bought it at the Hulen St Store in Fort Worth Texas.
I will send the picture by email.

Luby’s Obnoxious Meat-Server Named Maria Hernandez
This is the 2nd time in one month Maria Hernandez has shouted and frowned at me. The last time was Jan. 5th, a Fri. after I’d visited a Sports Medicine Clinic. Between Jan. 5th and Feb. 1st, my husband has eaten here 5 times on his way to teach college courses. He told me she behaved the same with him. Maria Hernandez is an African-American woman who has attractive features, so at first, she doesn’t appear to be someone who would be obnoxious for NO reason. She doesn’t know us and we don’t know her. However, we are Caucasian and have white hair. Is that it?
I reported the Jan. 5th incident to Luby’s HQ online and received a lame offer of a free meal, something I don’t want or need. What I want is for Maria Hernandez to be 100% re-educated or taken OFF the serving line, where she does NOT belong in her current state! If Luby’s were my business, she would never be in the public eye, until she could learn and demonstrate basic civility: “Hi, welcome to Luby’s, so glad you chose our restaurant. How can I help you?” accompanied by a SMILE. What a business concept: being kind to patrons who PAY YOUR WAGE! Every McDonald’s worker does this, but Maria Hernandez at Luby’s has not been able to do this ONE time in the last month!
My family has been heavily invested in Luby’s since the 1970’s, when we went there regularly in Houston. Since then, we’ve watched many Luby’s close. In our area, we are left with only two Luby’s when there used to have six. Now we are left with Dallas Luby’s on Mockingbird and Plano Luby’s on W. Park. Plano is closer to our home, so we have had our mini-once-a-month family reunions there, with as many as 14 from our family attending. However, due to shouting and frowning behavior of meat server Maria Hernandez, we held our last month’s reunion at La Hacienda Ranch in Frisco. My relatives want to eat the soup and fish at Luby’s, so we’ve made test runs last month with NO improvement seen in Maria.
Nowhere in ANY restaurant have I ever ONCE encountered the bad behavior exhibited by Plano Luby’s meat server Maria Hernandez yesterday Feb. 1st, 2018 @ 1:30p. Her shouting and frowning behavior looks like the inmates on the TV show, Locked Behind Bars. Here’s yesterday’s exchange between her and me @ 1:30p (Note – all caps = shouting):
Maria, frowning and scowling: WHAT DO YOU WANT?!
Me, pointing to the fried fish: Fried fish
Maria, still frowning: HALF OR WHOLE?!
Me: WHOLE!
Maria: TARTAR SAUCE?!
Me: NO!
No one was behind me in line and Maria Hernandez left the line going into the back. Employees next to her all smiled at me and said, “We’re so glad you chose Luby’s. May we help you?” I said, “I can’t stand that woman’s behavior! This is the 2nd time in one month! I’ve reported her Jan. 5th behavior online 3 times.” An employee said to me, “I’m so sorry; do you want to speak to the manager?” Me, “Yes.” I waited at the register for the asst. manager, Brad Colt, to appear. When I imitated exactly what Maria shouted at me and how she looked, he took offense to MY shouting demonstration, NOT to her behavior toward me! Something is really wrong at this Luby’s! He did NOT apologize for HER behavior, only said, “You need to calm down, ma’am.” The restaurant was half full and many people gave me thumbs-up smiles. Several showed me the website at the table, where I could complain and also gave me the name of the obnoxious employee, Maria Hernandez. My meal cost $12.00, but I tipped the wait staff $7.00.
Sadly, this incompetent Luby’s management and obnoxious treatment by the continuously nasty meat server suggests Luby’s is GOING UNDER! Who in their right minds tolerates this nastiness? NOT ME!

On Thursday, Sept.28th, 2017, we visited the Lubyz in Round Rock, TX. I went with my newborn grand daughter , 3 yr. Old granddaughter, and my daughter. As we got to the cashier daughter noticed she forgot silverware. Cashier did not offer to get it for her. I mentioned to cashier that we would need help carrying trays to table. It took forever to get our food yo be carried to our table. Jessica noticed I was getting upset and offered to bring our food. She was very helpful. Our waitress Linda also was nice and polite. Very disappointed w customer service. Cashier did not provide a kid friendly environment. Lubys also offered a manager’s special which had a picture of the combo. When I asked for it server said only included meat. Why would a picture of a combo be shown for this special. False advertising. Not happy with my visit to Lubys.

Very disappointed! I went to the Luby’s off of Park in Plano Texas yesterday. I ordered the LuAnn plate. After the meat was cut and placed on the plate I went to the vegetable area. I waited 10 minutes and servers were preparing other meals to go or just standing around. I finally said something and the meat server served my plate. Because the plate was sitting so long and placed against the heat (on the side the server hands it to you) she then abruptly (very rude) handed it to me. It was so hot the plate burned my fingers and I dropped it on the tray. I called to speak to the manager. I wanted to let him know so this won’t happen to anyone else. He said he had so cream in the back to put on it. That’s not the point! He did not offer to comp my meal, didn’t apologize, didn’t assure me that this would be addressed and would not happen to someone else. I watched him and he didn’t even speak to the server. Many of your customers are elderly and I would hope they never have to go through something like this. I have blisters on four fingers and have never been to a restaurant that treated customers that way.

I went into the location at FM 365 in Port Arthur, TX. I asked specifically what was on the senior menu. The guy told me and I chose the roasted chicken along with the two vegetables. I get to the register, take out my drivers licenses. The young lady informs me that senior meals are only available Mon-Fri. I explained that the guy told me what was on the senior menu. She was very apologetic and went to get the Mgr to see if he would override. He refused to do so.

I have always enjoyed Luby’s cafeteria, however, the service at the I-10 East location near Federal Rd in Houston, Tx is unsatisfactory. The only employee that have good hospitality is the cashier at check out. The manager James was sitting near the register eating with the line managers. I approached him and explained to him my complaint and all he had to say to me was, “so”. I told him I was not going to spend my money there anymore. Again, all he had to say was “so okay”. He never even looked up from his meal to acknowledge that I was speaking to him. I see why his employees are so rude.
As I was going through the line to select the items, I was ignored and overlooked. The manager me feel like so I don’t care if you don’t come back and I got the same impression from his employees except the cashier of course.
In conclusion as much as I love Luby’s cafeteria, I will never eat at another Luby’s again. I will spend my money at Golden Corral. I have never made a complaint before, but this time I am sharing my experience.
