Loot Crate was founded in 2012 by Chris Davis and Matthew Arevalo in Los Angeles, California. This pair of friends wanted to create a “comic-con” in a box. The company offers a subscription box service which offers electronics, comics, and other “geek” related items on a monthly basis.
By 2014, the company had more than 200,000 subscribers in 10 countries. Subscription themes change monthly and range from electronics, to “The Future”, to “Anti-Hero” related items and more. The company also operates other subscription services, such as Loot Anime, Loot Pet, and Loot Gaming.
Loot Crate officially sponsored Dungeons and Dragons in 2016, and is an official sponsor of eSports Team, Optic Gaming.
In August 2019, the company announced that it would be filing for bankruptcy protection.
The company owed more than US$30 million in debt and US$5.87 million in taxes, while its credit card processor has withheld payments to the company. While under Chapter 11 bankruptcy, it plans to continue to fulfill orders but seeks potential buyers.
In October 2019, Loot Crate announced that it had been acquired by Money Chest, LLC. Money Chest has rebranded Loot Crate as the Loot Company.
The Loot Company maintains a corporate office in Los Angeles, California.

It has taken almost 3 months for me to get ONE crate. They claimed they would compensate me with a gift bundle but that never came either. Every time I tried to talk to someone its the same thing over and over and over again. I will personally be sueing them and taking this all the way to court.

I ordered a Farscape LootCRATE in MARCH, seven months later & I still have NOT received it!!! This company is a scam!!!

Getting the subscription was a painful! I ordered it in December for the gift to be received in February but it took 6 months! Then they automatically renewed it, I contacted them as soon as the charge hit and before anything shipped but they refused to cancel. They offered to refund 20% of the amount, which is absurd. Their customer service is awful and they just want to rob you blind and hide behind their “subscription” agreement. Tried to get a charge back through the credit card company and lootecrate denied it.

I purchased a year of loot tees for my husband as a Christmas gift. The quality is great and most months its not been themes he’s into but he still liked the tees. My issue is that they crates are supposed to come on the 28th of each month. This is the third month in a row that is late. The last two months were about 2 weeks late and there was no notice or tracking number that it shipped so I contacted customer support. They really didn’t care much and just said yeah it shipped here’s the tracking number. This month, again, I havent received the crate and havent heard anything. The point of a subscription to me is for it to consistently arrive and to not have to worry about it… I planned to get this for a few other family members this year but now I’m not sure… Because if I get it for someone I dont live with I wont know when theyre missing a crate and its clearly not reliable enough to just assume they would get it. Overall, good product but the customer service is not good and the shipping is not reliable.
