Lazy Dog Restaurant was founded in 2003 in Westminster, California, by Chris Simms. The original name of the restaurant was going to be Rocky Mountain Cafe, Simm’s thought the name was too “stuffy” for what he had in mind. Decorating the first restaurant with pictures of hound dogs, he decided on Lazy Dog.
The company is best known for its eclectic menu, which offers everything from pizza to Chinese food, as well as its policy of allowing dogs (with leashes) on the outdoor patio. In addition to food, the company sells merchandise, such as shirts and mugs, with the Lazy Dog logo.
Lazy Dog Restaurant now has 40 locations, with another location due to open in Downey, California, in late 2017 and one in Stafford, Texas, in 2022.
In May 2022, the company added some new menu items to help keep things from becoming boring.
Company headquarters are now located in Huntington Beach, California.

I was on a interview with one of their recruiters and they asked me if I had the stamina to do the job. I am a 52 year old man and I felt that my age is in question instead of my extensive experience. I felt embarrassed that I’m to old now to work at a face pace. Need some answers about company hiring practices.

That is illegal to discriminate against you because of age. They were on a fine line but not asking your age but made an assumption in a question. I would challenge them with a letter from an attorney. It’s worth the fee or it might be part of your free consult. Do not allow them to do that to you. Younger people don’t want to work and you do with a ton of experience.

A short time ago, my wife had placed an order with the southlands mall store in Aurora, Colorado, and paid for the purchase on line. When I arrived to pick up the order, only one half was available. Something about the plate my wife ordered not being available. I understood that these types of things can happen and intended on ordering another plate for her but was concerned about the on line payment. The manager, Veronica Tucker, stepped in and reviewed the order. She explained that if I had time to wait, she would see to it that it that the plate would be made. She went to the kitchen to place that order. When she returned, she corrected the on line payment issue and told me that due to the inconvenience, the entire meal would be at no cost. I told her that it was not necessary and I understood how problems could occur but she insisted.
We have been long time customers at Lazy Dog, particularly at this restaurant. In my opinion, Manager Tucker resolved the situation in an exceptional manner. This shows her to be an exceptional manager. Lazy Dog is fortunate to have such an exceptional employee. Her resolution to this matter will keep us being customers of Lazy Dog.

You have a new store in Peachtree, GA. Would you need ServSafe services for your employees? I do ServSafe food safety manager certification twice every week just a few miles from the locations. I also do onsite classes and food handlers courses. Please email.

I am an inventor and have a great product for your restaurants. Seeing that you are pet friendly this should be a hit with a number of your customers. Go to pickUpoop.com and you will have a first hand look. I am preparing to send samples to your head office so that your staff can evaluate it real time.

Hello, My husband and I have been going to the Lazy Dog in Orange, CA for several years, and more so this year due to their gluten free menu. It quickly became our favorite place for lunch or dinner. Since I have to be gluten free, I was so excited to see a gf menu! And even better yet, the gf food there was actually safe for me to eat. That doesn’t happen all the time at other places. Lately I have been ordering the Chicken Tortilla soup. It is amazing. I can’t get enough of it. We ate their 2 times last week. Once only my husband and I, and second time with my brothers and sisters-in-law. I ordered the soup both times. I was shocked when I tasted it. The first occurrence, the soup was so dang hot! I mean hot as in spicy. I did finish because I was so hungry, even though my mouth was burning hot. Thank goodness for my glass of water. After every spoon of soup, I immediately drank some cold water. We advised our waitress about the situation and she was nice enough to give us two $10 gift cards. I just figured the soup problem was a one time thing. The following Saturday (last Saturday) we again went to the Lazy Dog with my two brothers and their wives. Again I ordered the chicken tortilla soup. All I can say is “Holy Cow”!!! It was so salty I had to again take lots of water in order to eat it. I mentioned it to our waitress. She offered me a new bowl of soup. I declined since I figured it would come from the same pot. She told me it would be from the bottom of the pot. What I was hoping for is that somehow the cooks can make the soup as it was before my last two visits. Don’t know what’s going on in the kitchen, but hoping it gets fixed. And sooner rather than later. Truly, I never have written any comments to restaurants. But since we are close by and the original soup was always amazing, I would really hate to not come back in. Hoping someone will look into what is going on with the Chicken Tortilla soup and correct the situation. Also, I must say my husband loved his lunch, as well as my two brothers and their wives! Of course, they don’t eat gf. Who ever may read this, I just want to say thank you and hopefully I’ll be able to have more of my favorite soup again.
