Kona Ice was founded by current CEO Tony Lamb in 2007 in Florence, Kentucky after he decided that he could design a better ice cream truck that offered healthier frozen treat choices. The company sells premium frozen shaved ice and ice cream products from trucks with vivid paint jobs.
The company introduced a smaller truck in late 2012 so that it could be parked indoors and shaved ice sold at events. Kona Ice also offers kiosks, trailers, and carts for selling shaved ice in a wide variety of locations.
Kona Ice began franchising in 2008. The company currently has 1,143 franchise locations in more than 43 states.
Kona Ice is listed as #12 on the Entrepreneur’s list of Top Fastest Growing Franchises in America. The company has relationships with third parties to help cover the cost of equipment, inventory, and franchise fees. Kona Ice also offers a discount on fees for veterans.
While Kona Ice has been marketed towards children, the company now sees that adults enjoy these tasty treats as well. Adults will find more sophisticated flavors including appletini and blackberry mojito.
Kona Ice maintains a corporate office in Florence, Kentucky.

Hello on July 8th 2023 my wife hired Kona of Campbell County to do her birthday party we never see thr truck at the agreed location, apparently the driver parks around the corner and screen shots a picture like they did show up. Now the company won’t refund my wife’s deposit! Needless to say my wife and her guest were extremely disappointed!

I bought 2 of your your $4cups for my grandchildren yesterday, paid with my debit card. I looked on my bank app today and the guy had charged my $5 each. He also was not very nice to begin with. I wouldn’t buy from him again. This was my first time buying from Kona Ice, not a good experience.

Your 2014 Smart Snack compliant page states that Kona Ice is compliant due to the Liquid Vitamin D additive. In 2016 the USDA added a change in regulations so that each snack has to have 1/4 serving of fruit or vegetables. How does your ice comply with that? Are you currently Smart Snack compliant, and if so how?

To Whom it May Concern:
This past Saturday June 11, I witnessed one of your reps act in a very rude and hostile manner toward a representative of the American Cancer Society. There was some confusion as to your local truck being a vendor in the Relay for Life of Portage. This truck shows up around 3:30 to 4:00, several hours after the start of the event, and wants to know where to set up. I have been the logistics chair of this event for several years and did not hear of your participation and have been attending planning meetings since January of this year. I had already arranged the participation of another local snow cone vendor. Somebody much nicer than your guy, for sure. Your guy got in the face of one of the most love reps of ACS and started swinging his arms and stating “that”s the last time we do anything for the Amercian Cancer Society again”. He made a scene in the parking lot while a couple hundred cancer survivors and their caregivers were headed for a dinner supplied by the event!!! “You know if there was some confusion we are all very sorry.. As a longtime volunteer and somebody who goes to these events because I have felt the pain and sorrow of a disease that takes away loved ones our intentions are respectful!!! and honest!!! Somebody yelling that “you cost the company about a thousand bucks today because of this “and we will never do business with you again” is a company that I will “never” allow on a track or field that I have the charge of. If the thousand bucks is the issue “I WILL GLADLY PAY IT MYSELF”!!! But I don’t ever want to see your rep at an event again, and he’s easy to recognize. My name is Chris Brock and I live in Portage IN.
