The Jelly Belly jelly bean was invented by David Klein. In 1976, Klein approached the Herman Goelitz Candy Company and asked them to produce a gourmet jelly bean for him which would be known as a Jelly Belly.
In 1980, the Goelitz Candy Company purchased Jelly Belly from Klein.
The Jelly Belly gained national exposure as it was a favorite treat of President Ronald Reagan.
The Goelitz Candy Company eventually changed their name to the Jelly Belly Candy Company.
Today, the company produces over 37 million pounds of candy each year.

Dear CEO Herman Rowland,
My name is Nancy Luna and I am an employee at the Jelly Belly store in Gilroy CA. It has come to my attention that a few customers have asked for CBD jelly beans. My answer is always no. It might not be a bad idea if Jelly Belly produce CBD jelly beans. I can assure you that a lot of people would buy them to help with them with anxiety. There are a lot of people who would prefer to take CBD oil to help with their anxiety instead of taking prescribed medication, which causes side effects.
Thank you,

Subject: Jelly Belly Upgrades
Good day,
I have been associated with Hyde & Hyde since about 1990. You sent samples for Allen and Tim Hyde to review for their use at the theme parks. I saw a box of wrapped Jelly Bellys and questioned Tim. He said take them with you. I did and when checking in at United Airlines for trip back to Tucson, gave some to the check in at gate and they upgraded me to first class. Well now I have been handing out those wrapped beans for about 29 years. The Hydes have been kind to be my supplier as a spiff for the work I did for them over 20 plus years and it continues today.
My first job out of the military in 1962 was working for Powell candy in Hopkins Minnesota for $1.65 an hour. I moved into packaging and built a converting plant printing and laminating in the Minneapolis area. In 1986, I sold my company to Powell candy and was retained for 3 years at over 6 figure salary. So it was quite a circle. I had also obtained material from Japan for their twist wrap and had produced material for their plant. That is why the wrapped Jelly Bellys were an attraction to me.
The wrapped Jelly Bellys have been with me all over the world. I have upgrade stories that are not only amazing but have just been a lot of fun. Servers and others are always pleased to receive something not expected. However now many places i see a hand out because they know I will have them in my pocket.
Mr Rowland we have met a couple of times with I was with Tim or Allen at different shows. I have only two regrets about the product. First of all when the name was on each item disappeared. I know a lot about inventory control so it did not surprise me very much. The other is that my wife loves the Juicy Pear and there is not a box of them alone. Again I understand.
So this long story comes to a stop but my continued hand out does not. At 77 I do not want to change my ways.
Respectfully Yours,
Dean Garrett

I reached out to Janice McRae to inquire about the Tangerine Room for my daughter’s birthday party in October this year. I read all the information given online but i had one specific question. Her response to my email was one sentence–basically saying “here’s the info for you to review”— not even a hi hello or thank you for inquiring. Some customer service you have Janice McRae. We have been loyal customers of Jelly Belly for many many years and you should not be allowed to represent this wonderful company. And after i complained about your horrible customer service, you offer me a 20% discount?! First impressions last. And i am taking my business elsewhere.
