Islands Restaurant was founded in 1982 by founder and current CEO Tony DeGrazier. DeGrazier wanted to put a little bit of the beach life into downtown Los Angeles, so he opened his first restaurant in West Los Angeles. The restaurant features typical American cuisine such as hamburgers, french fries, milkshakes, fruity cocktails, and speciality fries.
Today, the company has more than 50 locations in California, Hawaii, Arizona, and Nevada. Each restaurant has an island theme to it, including palm trees, surfboards mounted on the walls, tiki wood tables and chairs, as well as surfing videos played on big screen televisions throughout each restaurant. The menu has expanded to include salads, sandwiches such as The Hula and The Big Wave, soft tacos, as well as “island” desserts such as Kona Pie.
Islands Restaurant had revenue in 2014 of $112 million and plans to open 5 more locations in the next two years.

Islands restaurant’s corporate office never replies to their online feedback form submissions. I submitted feedback andwas never contacted. That was three weeks ago. The online form states they will make contact within two business days. Very unprofessional corporate office! Their Burbank location is terribly operated.

My girlfriend Cheyenne Pierson works (worked until tonight at about 8pm) for Island’s in Phoenix, Arizona Desert Ridge location. She is constantly being BULLIED AND HARASSED by her co workers and MANAGEMENT. The GMs name is Chris something. I would have his last name but he deleted all my girlfriends hotschedules information the minute she threatened to file a law suit or call corporate on him and his restaurant. My girlfriend has had stickers put in her hair while she walks around for hours and is just trying to work, make money, and go home just like everyone else, Fernando, another one of the managers told cheynne to “suck it up and tell me if you throw up again” after she had already thrown up once WHILE ON THE CLOCK WORKING WHEN THEIR GUIDELINES AND RULES FOR TRAINING A FOOD SERVICE EMPLOYEE says to SEND THEM HOME IMMEDIATELY! Cheyenne was called DUMB and STUPID BY ALL PARTIES INVOLVED when she tried to tell the managers she was being bullied and harassed but guess what? The managers where doing it too and we have text messages backing up some of what I am saying and I will not let this go… I NEED CORPORATE TO CONTACT ME ASAP! THIS IS RIDICULOUS to even have to say this about a work environment. Want to know more? Cheyenne’s coworkers say they’ll finish sidework for her so she can go home then turn right around and tell management she walked out on them and didn’t do any work at all, a specific employee Hannah told another employee Clarise to have Cheyenne (my girlfriend) run all the food even though she was scheduled as an ETO , ETO . Hannah then later tells Clarise “make Cheyenne run all the food” and Clarise said “oh okay” because Clarise thought she was practicing doing tickets but then Hannah later tells Clarise “with Cheyenne around, nothing gets done” and tells clarise to “do the opposite of what cheyenne does because everything she does annoys me so much” CLARISE also got pulled in to the office tonight about 3 times and the manager ADMITTED TO KNOWING ABOUT HOW THE EMPLOYESS TALKED BADLY ABOUT CHEYENNE AND TOLD CLARISE ” YEAH THEY COULD HAVE SAID STUFF NICER.” I confronted Chris the GM about everything and he lied through his teeth about everything even though i have text messages from CLARISE HIS EMPLOYEE that say otherwise. I AM SICK AND TIRED OF MY GIRLFRIEND COMING HOME EVERY NIGHT CRYING ABOUT THE WAY SHE IS TREATED AT WORK!! CALL ME AT 480 329 XXXXX we need to figure this out. If you don’t call me my lawyer will get ahold of you. THANKS.

We had the absolutely worst experience ever. I had the tortilla soup and said I was allergic to Avocados, so the first round they did not put any in it, but the second refill they put it in there and I ate it and was freaking out afterwords because I told them specifically I was allergic to it and asked why they would do this. I am so upset at this point because shortly after I started having cramps and couldn’t even stand up, my body is literally pain while I was at the theater. I was hoping it was going to go away after I took some Benadryl, but it took a while to kick in so then I literally pooped all over myself and in my clothes…just had my entire outfit dry cleaned and now it is completely wrecked and I have to pay to get it done. I was literally in the theater and I pooped all over myself and then I had to get up, because we both paid $30 something dollars for the D-Box XD experience. I could not even finish the movie…I had soooo many problems. I completely embarrassed myself because it was everywhere…and I called the manager there explaining how pissed off I was…I am above-pissed off. Thank god the Benadryl kicked in or else it would have gotten much worst. I am so upset! The manager said he was going to have the district manager call me. I could have gone to the emergency room and had soo many other issues. I could not even drive home because the Benadryl knocked me out so I had to take a taxi back home. I was also supposed to go back to work, but could not so I lost a work day as well. Today has absolutely been the worst.

My tooth broke from eating a burger at Islands at Desert Ridge (AZ). Filled out a customer accident report and was told by the manager that I would be hearing from someone at Islands corporate. It’s Wednesday, and I’m still waiting. Please have someone contact me.

At your Pasadena Paseo Colorado restaurant, almost all employees are aware that one of the employees is a drug dealer and either buy from him or bring people to him. Never thought Island’s would allow for someone like that to be employed in a place with families.

I have been eating at Islands for years and have noticed the reduced portions of your salads. The other day I ate at the Long Beach Towne Center location. I ordered a Caesar Salad for over $10.00 and was served a little more than a handful of salad which was very disappointed as well as my guest. Each of your restaurant need quality and portion controls.

Several weeks ago I had a very personal yet disturbing complaint of an individual with management status took my girlfriend out to have drinks at a near by bar. Now I am well aware that my girlfriend is an adult so she made the decision also but I also know that management is not to have personal relation like that with employees. I think Sam Shumake was out of line. I never received any follow up for that reason I am writing this email.
