l am a physician and , my wife Bette is an RN . We travel to Utah for the excellent medical care available here . Two days ago my wife suffered a severe pulmonary embolus . She was taken to the Park City Intermountain Hospital by EMT ambulance .She was transferred to the ICU where I feel she received excellent care .
She was discharged from ICU at noon . This evening she began to deteriorate with symptoms of pneumonia/ pneumonitis . I called the ER ( where we had previously received such good care ) to ask advice whether to bring my wife back . I requested a return call .
The staff said they tried to call three times , but I never received a call . When I called a second time I was referred to the charge nurse Zack . He told me that I couldn’t speak to the ER doctor since outside calls couldn’t be transferred . Unless , that is ,if I was bringing a patient in.
I have seen your phone system , and would be amazed if that phone transfer couldn’t be accomplished .
I made a third call , answered by Jonathan . I supplied my cell number as an alternate , but I am still waiting for that return call .
With my wife worsening I sought care elsewhere .
Is it Intermountain policy for ER physicians not to respond to physicians who call with problems about a patient (who was discharged from the ICU that very day ) ? Except of course ,if they are transferring patients , then perhaps the charge nurse will allow the phone call .
I plan on visiting the administrator tomorrow to discuss this . My phone numbers are: 435-800-XXXXX and 251-217-XXXXX . Perhaps you can get through where the ER staff can not.

I am writing this e-mail in regards to your billing departments located at 4646 West Park Blvd West Valley City Utah 84120. I would like to no why when I do not owe your company any money they made me give them my social security number so I could get them to quit calling me. They said that they were not calling for me at my ph. number they were trying to reach someone else at my ph. # . I told them that I was the only one at this number and they informed me if I wouldn’t give them my social security number they couldn’t help me. When I finely gave them my social security number they told me that they confirmed I didn’t owe them any money and they would quit calling me. I feel that they had no right to do that. They were not trying to reach me so why did I have to give them any information to get my ph.# taken off the call list. It took me three calls to get my number off there call list they hung up on me the first 2 times because I would not give them my social security number. Just because they said they had my number for someone else why should I have to prove anything to get my number off there call list.

To Who it may concern:
I am writing in regards to employee Kristine Brown. She represented your company exceptionally well. I would recommend IHC and particularly Kristine to anyone. Because of her excellent service, I am also recommending Kristine to my Pulmonologist Dr. Greg Hammond as an excellent resource to help his patients with their sleep apnea needs.
I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the excellent service I received regarding my need for Auto Servo Ventilator. The DME Company that I had my CPAP with previously proved difficult to deal with and slow to respond to my worsening diagnosis and the need for an ASV machine rather than CPAP. I suffered a heart attack after the sleep study diagnosing Central Nervous System Apnea and was quite ill. I needed to accomplish getting a new machine as quickly as possible.
After my DME Company kept offering excuses why they hadn’t process my doctor’s request even thought my doctor and I provided them with all the needed doXXXXentation; I found it necessary to find another company. I needed someone to care enough to work on it quickly and make it happen. I spoke with representatives from several DME companies. In the process, I spoke with IHC employee Kristine Brown who was knowledgeable, kind and compassionate. She was willing to work quickly to determine my eligibility with my insurance company.
I must say she is the only employee at all the companies from Salt Lake to Ogden that I spoke with who seemed to care and be willing to put forth the effort to get an ASV machine for me in a timely manner. From the first time I first spoke with her, until she got approval from the insurance company was a fraction of the expected time quoted by other companies, including another IHC employee at a different facility. The difference I believe was that she cared and thought of me as a person not just a job. She could not have been better! The machine has been so helpful; I feel it may have made the difference on my surviving long enough be to survive the procedure I need.
I am aware of the time and money spent on advertising IHC and other health care companies. It is my opinion that employees like her are the best advertisement. Thank you.
I am sending a copy of this letter to the President of the company as I want him to know how much my family and I appreciate Kristine’s help.
Thank You So Much
