Harveys Supermarket was founded in 1903 by Joe Harvey in Nashville, Georgia. The company continued to grow slowly over the years and in the 1980’s, via a series of acquisitions, grew substantially. The company now has 56 locations throughout Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina, employing approximately 4,400 persons.
The company is based in Jacksonville, Florida and is a subsidiary of Southeastern Grocers, who purchased the company in 2013 for $265 million. Harveys Supermarket supports the Wounded Warrior Project. In April of 2016, the company released a statement saying that they would provide only cage-free eggs by early 2017.
In March 2018, the parent company, Southeastern Grocers, filed for bankruptcy in order to reorganize its debts. The company emerged from bankruptcy the following month.
In August 2020, due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis, Southeastern Grocers implemented a new policy allowing stores with pharmacies to offer delivery service.
Also due to the coronavirus, Harveys parent company Southeastern Grocers donated 1.12 million meals to the Feeding America charity group.

Harvey’s supermarket in us 92 Lakeland Florida 33801 is where we shop due to it being in walking distance so when I say I’m furious because not once twice but three times I’ve had to take meat back due to it being bad. I don’t have alot of options to where I can shop. So it’s a major inconvenience to have to back to store and get something else. If the meat I’ve had to return was on sale that’s the refund I get, it’s a problem because now the product is no longer on sale and I can’t afford the mouths I have to feed for the evening. This is a joke and I can’t depend on this store anymore to do their job.

Harveys in Douglas, Ga is a joke. First of all I believe they are career thieves, because the prices never match the shelf price. The manager, or lack thereof is in a state of perpetual mindnumb apparently. The stupidity is astounding to me.

Exactly my complaint…an that’s a HUGE ISSUE in my shopping!!! Then ALOT of no price listed or posted for items!!!

I really enjoy shopping at Harvey’s but I think it’s crazy with some of you pricings, for example $9.99 a pound for oxtails. Your store is not anywhere top quality to compare with A 1 stores. No store in Tampa sell that for that price.

I was NOT pleased AT ALL w/the QUALITY of items EITHER Whether it was from the fresh OR frozen dept on meats!!! No good I couldn’t even eat it… then produce was dirty & squeeshy it ALL spoiled 2-3 days after!!!

The Harvey’s in Folkston is poor. I was expecting a supermarket when it took over. So far, disappointment. For instance, being the only grocery in Folkston, you should be able to get cuts of meat that you want or need. They say the store receives only prepackaged meat. Why have a meat dept.? You cannot get a flank steak, Cornish hens, and the amount of meat that you need. My family does not need large packages, and they will not breK packages. The staff, very unfriendly. The cashiers sling groceries, and then, when bagging well, put it all in one bag. You should have someone bagging the groceries and helping to carry out. Not enough checkouts are open. Long lines on your busy days. People sitting in office doing what , paperwork, do it before you go home if need be. Always changing thing.s. Grocery buying should be a pleasant experience, not so stressful that you want to leave basket just walk out. I really think the meat dept. needs the most improvement. I do not ever see a manager walking around. Do not even know who heir she is! Sad. Please think about the changes, please. Thank you.

Harvey’s in Pembroke Ga is awful. The deli manager Pat thinks she runs the store and is very rude. She acts like she is better than anyone else and doesn’t lift a finger. It’s a shame every time you visit the store the manager Kim and Pat are always outside sitting on a bench under the tree smoking. They must get paid really good just to sit and smoke while everyone else is working. This store needs a new deli manager and store manager. Know one wants to shop at a store with rude people in charge who are to good to speak to the customers.
Meagan Renee Lofton says
Store policy was informed to me that they can type in your card numbers including EBT debit and credit cards which is illegal in my state they need to check their policy and inform their corporate I spoke with a manager who was very irate with me and told me that it is their policy and there’s nothing they can do about it refuse to call or talk to corporate for me

I worked at Harvey’s and they were nothing but ride to me , I was scheduled during times that were not even announced to me and then later on yelled at for unexpected scheduling , management is rude and unprofessional they dont want to help with anything and are quick to fire you but will not look at themselves. There is alot of favorism going on in this place, nothing is organized, full of gossip and drama, forgot my pay until I said something and still had the audacity to treat me like crap, the bathrooms are absolutely disgusting there is always pi** and p**p everywhere and they always have rats. The cashiers eat , gossip, and talk over customers and majority of the time throw their food and smash their food items when rolling them instead of gently pushing them down the grocery register Aile .
Breanna Darling says
Also the female staff there don’t wash their hands after using the bathroom , and then touch everything, and the cashiers be on they phone Infront of customers while they have a long line of customers.

Jan 28, 2018 at 3:15 PM : Customer service has dropped tremendously at the Harvey’s 1709 on Pine Hills Road. Today, I was standing in line waiting to check out when Sumaya Jamerson came to me and stated that she could check me out. I got into her lane and began to put my items on the counter. I saw her at the register before she approached me so one would think that everything was fine with the register. After getting in the line, she then states this register does not have a till and the agent was in the back getting her register. I asked her if there was no register there, whey did she pull me out of line and tell me that she could check me out. Her comment was I did not know there wasn’t a register and just walked away. Then she came back and said the cashier would be out in a few moments. I asked her why did you pull me out of the line and tell me that you were going to check me out then walk away. She and I both had an attitude at that moment and she walked over to another register and started talking that cashier and began bagging groceries. After getting checked out, I walked over to her as asked for her name and she stated do you want me to write it down “Sumaya Jamerson” and I said yes. I got her name and left the store. She also commented that if I wanted to make a complaint, I could stop at the customer service desk.

I really enjoy shopping at Harvey’s in fact I was in one of your television ads.Todayat store #1648 one of the employees that works in the produce dept. was very rude to me . I asked one of the employees that was working in produce if he would bring out a case of the green peppers from the back because the ones that were out on the floor did not look good they had bruises on them. The other employee that was working over in produce I believe they said his name is cheeves he told the other employee not to bring any out for me he said to him man nobody is going to be doing all that.I said to him that those peppers out on the floor do not look good then he said to me with an attitude ma you don.t have to buy them & walked away. We have lost a few Harvey’s here in AlbanyGa. with a employee like this man working there can make the company lose good customers I shop in Harvey’s 2 to 3 times on a weekly basis.I hope in the future that the company hires employees with better customer service skills

I was shoppiung in your store since I live on the Easway and Plaza Llocation store. While in your store I asked the Shift Manager Slovania to look at the Mens Bathroom because it was piss all on the stool and floor and in the Stall. She got a Nasty attitude with me bein g p;olite to her and Imediately asked me to get out of the Store for no reason. She also followed me to the door after I bought my goods from the Store. This behavior by your Shift Manager is unacceptable in a Grocery Chain oir any shopping environment. I went to James this morning and a Black woman–who I believe works with Customer Service there at Harveys. He called her into the Office as we spoke and she threated that I was going to get Hurt. Those were her exact words as James the Assistant Manager witnessed her say this todayon October 18, 2017. I refuse to be HARRASSED by the Cashiers and Assistant Managers as I was yeesterday with Slovania and today by the Stores Customer Sevice –African American girl–who stated ” I am going to get Hurt” I have a Police complaint number from last night when I called the Police for the Shift Manager telling me to leave and following me out of the store Last Night about 8p. I spoke to James –Assistant Manager this morning–I will be speaking to the District Manager about this behavior as it is very unusual—I do not know these people othe than going into the Harveys at that location to purchase Products. They are strangers. this better be resolved at the District Level. or I will File a Legal Lawsuit against this store. I do not need an Attorny to do this. I am very competent in Filing a Civil Lawsuit against your Company. I want a wrriteen Apology from your Company handed to me by Mr. Beal. the Store Manager that assures that I will not be Harraseed in this store. Or you will have a Lawsuit. I am scheduled to speak to him on this Monday coming. If you want to pl,ay a Banning Game with ma. Rest assured that I will win the Lawsuit. This is Harrassment by Harvey Staff and I will not tolerate this Disrimination. You can have Mr.Beal investigate this when He returns and Hand write or type me a letter of Apology about nthis behavior by the Individuals I have Mentioned or you can choose to have a Lawsuit. Again, rest assured that you cannot win a Disrimination nor Harrassment Lawsuit against me. I do not need an Attorney –I am familiar with filing this Legal action and it will cost thje Company Money and Time to Appear in Court. This behavior is copletely unnacceptable in a Corporate or Franchised enviorment.. I expect to have a Hand writte Apology guaranteeing that I will not have any more problems with the Staff ither threatening me or telling me to leave for no legitamate reason when I am purchasing Goods. This company just recently Merged or Bought –Bi-Lo and put there name up. I am also aware of this Financial Transaction. Again, I expect a Hand written apoloy and guarantee of no threats and or telling me to leave while I am purching Goods from Harveys. This EMail dserves Immmediate attention as I will be looking nfoir the District mANAGERS TELEPHONE NUMBER as well. I suggest you call him before I do. I will speak with Mr. Beal the Store Manager when he returns on Monday. If you want to go to Court with me filing a Lawsuit –I am not playing –a game. You will see when you are szerved this Lawsuit. iT IS Easier for the District and Store Mabnager to resolve this horendous behavior at the STORE LEVEL. I am giving Harvey’s 1 Chance that is it. This is unacceptable—and your Attorneys will have to alot to Disprove. you can EMail me the District managers number as soon as possible. Again this not a game –I do not take lightly to Discrimination and threats and Bannings. I gavbe my EMail and did not want to disclose that information ither. It is solely used for the purposes of resonding toi my COMPLAINT. Send mne the District Managers number of the Charlotte Area. locationn. Thank you. I lookk forward tois number.

I’ve worked at haverys for about a year now, & all I can say is that the company is very cheap ! Barely gives employees raises & also wait wait till the very last minute to let employees know if they should shut the store down or not when a natural disaster happens. For instance it recently snowed down in Georgia the Springfield area in effingham county & everywhere was close except our store ! Even the news warned people to stay off the roads but corporate insisted the store stay open, not considering the safety of their employees. This also happened the same time a hurricane category 3. Waited the last hour to inform employees, that could’ve of been in another state for safety. Just ridiculous ! Care more about the money than their employees.

Also they were turningbthem over and knocking merchandise off shelfs. I left and went to the other grocery in town.

I visited the Harvey’s store on N Main Street in Columbia SC and one register was open with about 3 people ahead of me and 5 or 6 behind me the woman that was getting rung up needed something cancelled and the cashier didn’t know how to do it or was having issues I assume, she proceeds to call the lady from customer service over for help she comes over and in the process of all of this another register opened up, everyone from the back of the line went over to the one that opened (which is typical and I understand that) I made a general statement to the gentleman in front of me that had been waiting about 10 minutes along with myself that it would be nice if they called the next person in the order that they’ve been waiting, he agreed keep in mind that this is a general statement that I made to another customer while we both waited in this line. The lady from customer service who is always rude, I’ve never seen her not speaking rudely to a customer, takes it upon herself to talk about what I had just said to another customer that was in line ahead of me she stated that “she was tired of customers saying they should call the next person in line and that didnt make any sense to do that, she kept going on and on to another customer about me, I then told her that I was stating a comment to the customer standing next to me not her and that she should focus on moving the line out of the way not what I’m talking about in line. I shop here almost every other day and have never encountered a pleasant experience with her (Dianne) just last week I went in and made a purchase and requested 100 dollars cash back and the young lady ringing me up didn’t have enough she then asks Dianne who’s at the next register for it and as she’s giving it to her she’s going on and on saying “I can’t wait until they stop this cash back mess, pretty soon they’re (customers) are going to have to go to the ATM to get their money, and I can’t wait meanwhile I’m standing there feeling embarrassed as if me asking for cash back was something wrong, I felt like she should have kept her thoughts to herself or at least wait to complain about the cash back policy when no customers are around I’m going in to speak with a manager today after work because she needs a refresher course on customer service, if they don’t at least attempt to do something about it I will never step foot in their again.

What happened to the Customer Service Manager in McRae Ga? I went in today and asked for her only to find out she’s been let go?
What a HUGE mistake, Wendy was the ONLY MANAGER who actually gave a crap about customers in that store.
It’s bad enough they were already shorthanded and she was doing the job of 3 people. Now they have nobody. The deli/bakery manager was the ONLY MANAGER there.
My friends, family and myself will just go to Wal-Mart or Piggly Wiggly. This store is a joke.

I live in Waycross GA. I frequent the Harvey’s located on Tebeau Street. I use Western Union very often since all my family lives in Atlanta. I visited the Tebeau street location and was told by Rhonda, the lady who works the customer service desk, that I couldn’t pick up my Western Union since I listed a PO BOX for my address. The PO BOX is listed on my Georgia State issued Drivers License and I have always picked up money this way. I explained this to her. She still refused to grant my request. So, I called Western Union, who in turn called and spoke with Steve, the Store Manager, who assured Western Union I could pick up my money transfer using the address listed on my Drivers License. I was outside in the parking lot and re entered the store. I was told by Rhonda that the manager had left the store, which was strange as I heard him in the office speaking with Rhonda about the matter. Rhonda still refused to release my money transfer, said it was company policy. I am an HR Manager and that makes no sense to me. I then left the store and went to the other Harveys location in Waycross GA on Plant ave. Which released my money transfer without any problems. I also asked to see this policy that Rhonda got so nasty about with me. Which, as I thought, didn’t exist! Rhonda at the Tebeau street location is always rude when I come into the store. She needs to be re trained in Customer Service. This is actually the third incident in horrible customer service that I have received from her over the last year. Not sure how she still has a job with such poor customer service skills. Also, to add insult to injury, she was training another employee, which is only going to continue this cycle of ignorance and poor customer service skills. I may not remember all of the great customer service I had received over the years, but I will never forget the 3 horrible experiences with Rhonda at Harvey’s on Tebeau Street in Waycross GA.
